If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

Genesis appears to yet again be changing their mind on how they are developing their network. They have stopped importing G80s and G90s a few months ago. See this article:
Genesis Sales Drop, But the Company States That's Part of a Larger Plan [News] - The Fast Lane Car

I can’t see the mothership in Korea being very happy about all of this confusion here in the US. Too bad we can’t just order direct from overseas, and drive our new Genesis right off the ship and forget this mess?

I don't think it has to be finished, just agreed to in a certain time period.

Do you think that will allow for an existing Hyundai dealer to run a Genesis dealer in the same building?

Well that explains why most of the dealers near me that sold Genesis have nearly no inventory or only white cars left. Most of them I've visited don't plan on selling Genesis in the future due to this mess. Hopefully, I can find a dealer close by, but the way it is sounding it is clearly going to be Sept/Oct before I see one of these mythical G70s. At least the car will include all the features that were missing from the Stinger and it might just be worth the wait! Wonder if the press reviews will all be positive when the 16th gets here?

I think reviews for the car will be great, but for Genesis USA...maybe not so much?

OHHHH... Now it's becoming clear why the dealers I encountered were less than enthusiastic about the G70. From what I read in the article, they won't be allowed to sell them unless it's a new standalone dealer. Interesting.

If they can only sell cars through a finished Genesis showroom, and there aren't any yet, how are they supposed to sell cars? One in the whole country completed by August? No wonder they aren't announcing G70 pricing yet.

Suspected something along these lines as had noted the decline in supply of G80's in another thread.

Makes sense for Genesis wanting minimal # of 2018MY on the lots when the 2019MY (including the G70) start hitting the designated Genesis dealerships.

However, think the TFLC article is incorrect, as what they had described was basically the prior plan - 100 separate Genesis dealerships; which was basically unfeasible when it came to the 2019MY (the plan being that only Genesis stores will get the 2019MY).

Unless things have changed (again), pretty sure that Hyundai dealerships/dealer groups which end up getting a Genesis franchise (by meeting the build-out requirement) will be able to continue selling the Genesis lineup.

There's no way most of them would have separate Genesis dealership or even a separate building/showroom up and running adjacent to the Hyundai store (some dealerships already have this), but suspect that they will at least be required to have a separated showroom (as what was required to sell the Equus and then the G90).

But all dealerships/dealer groups which are awarded a Genesis franchise will have to build-out a separate Genesis dealership (meeting the fairly stringent and costly requirements) by a certain date.

Think corporate should be flexible in allowing dealerships in smaller markets to have a separate Genesis store within the confines of the Hyundai dealership (as the cost of building out a totally separate Genesis dealership may be prohibitive for the market), but then again, doing so may run into the problem of too many Hyundai dealerships wanting a Genesis store within said market.

I'm going to guess June. I have no official or unofficial information to support that; just a guess.

There used to be a guy here on the forums who worked in the docks in Los Angeles, and about a month before vehicles would start arriving at the dealerships, he would start posting pictures before a model was released. He did this with the R-Spec release as well as the DH sedan release. I haven't see anything of the sort yet (which again isn't conclusive of anything).

The link here shows G70 included in recent shipments from Ulsan. Can’t tell how many are G70. Interesting that some have G90, but none have G80:

Some more info folks. I communicated with yet another person that was at this week's release event.

They said that the embargo is on driving impressions, etc. So they stated that...
- intended on-sale date is early August
- pricing is set to range between $35k and $50k USD

So...I am starting to think that the top spec 3.3T AWD will be less than a loaded Stinger...is that even possible? Perhaps those are base prices...then you stack on packages/options.

Anyhoo...they said that come Monday...there will be an onslaught of reviews, videos...and potentially more info.

Cheers.

A god among men you are, Beefer.

Maybe they are following the "smaller" model should cost less though process?

There really shouldn't be any options/packages beyond "HTRAC + Heated Steering wheel" for the 3.3T Sport based on the "Equipped to Compete" press release. So if the 3.3T AWD Sport is $50k, that is likely the price for every single option (excluding accessories).

Looking forward to my "Prime Day" G70 news.

So much for the embargo! First video review of G70 at New Hampshire track!
Or... maybe this one is not violating the embargo because they don't really get into "driving impressions". But estimated pricing range of $35K to 50K is mentioned, so the rumors from Beefer seem to be corroborated here!

Most informative video we've seen for a US-spec G70, although a lot still not discussed. Monday should open things up substantially.

Pleasant video, but not a lot of detail. Almost no video of interior...

Some info regarding release and dealers...

Genesis G70 debut nears while retail network sorts itself out – TechCurrentNews

The brand wouldn’t say how many dealers will sell the initial batch of G70s, but General Manager Erwin Raphael said he expects announcements to begin in the next few weeks. He hopes to have all of the Genesis franchises identified by the first quarter of next year. About half of Hyundai dealers accepted a compensation package that releases them from the Genesis network and reimburses them for investments in Genesis inventory, training and tools.

Some Hyundai dealers want to move forward with Genesis even though they didn’t sell any units in their markets in 2017.

Interesting quote: “The Nashville dealer said he wasn’t a fan of the decision to open the Genesis franchise offer to everyone. If everyone in his market continues with Genesis, he said, there would be three stores within a 50-mile radius. That prospect concerns him, but he hasn’t closed the door on the brand just yet.”

I searched within 50 miles of where I live in California and found 25 Genesis dealers.

Same, Im in SoCal, I guess they expect to be the only one around, so there would be no competition.

So it sounds like the only news on pricing today was top end model will be "less then 50k" MSRP

No...consensus seems to say $50k or a few grand higher...which makes sense and in line with what we’ve been saying.

Most every review and article I've read has said something along the lines of "up to $50k"... maybe one said a little over $50k and one said mid-$50s

Only a matter of time until Genesis releases official information... Hopefully an online builder with a pre-order option will be coming soon

After reading the articles and watching the reviews that came out today, I think I've finally made a color choice for my G70 when the time comes to make a decision. I had originally wanted either Siberian Ice or Black, but I could not find a picture of the Black with the Sport wheels on it so I couldn't fully make up my mind (also was considering the Dynamic Edition, but red isn't my forte and I don't want to spend more on a package when I could put that money towards a set of winter tires)... Alas, Car and Driver posted a picture of a Black Sport trim G70 and I fell in love with it!
