G70 US Availability?

I keep waiting for this thread to explode when we finally have specifics about when the car will be available and what it'll cost. Shouldn't be long now. We've all speculated until we're blue in the face. It'll be nice when we have confirmed, specific information.

Like being a kid a few days before Christmas.

From what I've been told, Genesis still hasn't filed with the Secretary of State here in IN to legally be able to sell the cars here. Until that happens, we can't apply for a license to sell the cars either. There are no allocations, we can't order them, we have no pricing, nothing.

GREAT. So now our precious new G70s are just sitting in a port car yard somewhere collecting dust... I might have to make a trip down to Georgia where East Coast ones were delivered and take one for myself!

Surprisingly, the import site didn't have any going to Baltimore; we are a huge port for car imports. There are dozens of lots right outside Baltimore with thousands of cars chilling in giant, vast lots for who knows what reasons: waiting to be shipped, unsold inventory there to rust, who the hell knows....

That's very true... but the Dodge Ram was already a very well established, well respected brand with a large following... so when they separated people may no thave understand that RAM was now the make, but they still recognized the truck itself... Genesis is an entirely new brand with all new vehicles (basically; there was the Genny coupe that didn't have huge recognition, and the Hyundai Genesis and Equus which were relatively unknown)

So Genesis is literally starting from scratching, whereas RAM was just rebranding an already well-known vehicle

Coulda been because it is an American Company. Maybe not. Could be that Genesis doesn't have their sh*t together and sold the car before they figured out what they needed.

Used to be. Built in Saltillo Truck Assembly, Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico by a company owned by Fiat. I think they still build them in Warren Michigan too.

I am very persistent...and have a slow afternoon.

I managed to get through and actually speak with Marty Focht.

I could not get any pricing out of him. I asked him to play over/under...nope.

But...car is not being released in August !!! Perhaps...tiny chance...very end of Aug. But he said cars should be landing in Sept...so probably early Sept.

I am in VA...and he did say that VA has a license to sell...have had it for a while actually. So he said VA will be one of the first to start seeing the cars. They are trying to rollout as evenly as they can across States...but there will be differences.

So...I am looking forward to the first couple of weeks of Sept. Perhaps last week of Aug.

Now I can chill and stop refreshing stuff every 23.1 seconds. Fme.

I did ask about the 2 special editions. He said they will be priced just a bit more...nothing crazy. In regards to the green...if it gets good feedback...it will become available as a standard color later on.

I managed to get through and actually speak with Marty Focht.

I could not get any pricing out of him. I asked him to play over/under...nope.

But...car is not being released in August !!! Perhaps...tiny chance...very end of Aug. But he said cars should be landing in Sept...so probably early Sept.

Thank you, Beefer, for your excellent detective work. It is also a credit to Genesis that their executives are available to the public and that while the answer wasn’t what you (and we) wanted he didn’t try to dance around and make you think the car would be available sooner. As the owner of three Hyundais (two currently) I’ve always found them ethical and up front. And again, thank you for reaching out to Genesis. When you finally drive that G70 off the lot, it will all be worth it.

And ah the golden question comes out:

1. Would you rather know it is at least 5 weeks out, OR
2. Would you rather not know when it will be out and be frustrated and then be surprised and have it released on August 1?

Sometimes not knowing turns into a nice little treat... LOL

I'm not sure if more time between now and availability is good for me or not. Likely going to wait and see what incentives pop up on the car, and also currently trying to sell my BRZ and not completely lose my shorts on the deal. We'll see...

Doubtful any incentives will come up on the G70 for a while..... you could pick up a solid G80 Sport right now for roughly close to what the G70 will run you.

Or sell your BRZ now and do a month-long rental of a cheapo Nissan Versa!!
