  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

Well, at least you got a well-written (non-committal) response from Genesis. For me....I think it's time to lease a Honda Accord an see what happens to Genesis as a brand.

Side note - I think I read somewhere they barely sold over 700 cars last quarter. This dealer network issue is a shame.

I have no idea of your needs, but to me, there is no comparison between the two cars. I'd not commit to a mediocre Honda for a couple of years when the car of my dreams is so close. Good luck with whatever you choose though.

I don't think the issue is the lack of information so much as the sheer unorganized feeling this entire mess gives off.

I'm a fairly patient person with cars and really want to wait until March so the timing of this doesn't affect me, but I can't help but feel like they have absolutely no idea what they're doing right now.

I'm not a Business Specialist or a Market Guru by any means but you don't have to be a College graduate to see that Genesis USA is in BIG problems. Current car sales are 1/3 of what they used to be one year ago and on top of this they are unable to put their new car on the market for months? That for sure is horrible for any company nowadays.

I am also disappointed in the way Genesis is going. I sold a Mercedes S550 and bought G90 Ultimate after thoroughly researching the car. I love the car and it has not disappointed me but my fear is that it is going the VW Phaeton route. Appears to be a mass F Up in their marketing and promotion group

You have to remember though, the G80 and G90 are in relatively low sale segments to begin with. The introduction of an entry-level near-luxury sports sedan and Genesis' SUVs will tell us a lot better how well the company will fair because they are higher sales segments to begin with.

I recognize Hyundai's commitment to Genesis and do believe that they wil not drop the brand so quickly. They have damn good products and they knowit, support them, and stand by them for the long term. That to me speaks wonders that they will figure this dealer thing out soon. Sure it's frustrating right now, but @EdP is correct: it IS still summer and the car was promised to be on sale in summer (so August or September). So they technically haven't done anything wrong; we are just getting antsy because they aren't telling us anything....

Correct, they're not the same apples. :) But the Honda has a dealer network, great incentives, reliability and will be a way cheaper lease than the other 40K cars like the Alfa, C Class and Stinger. Maybe in 2 years Genesis and the G70 will have worked out their issues.

I feel bad for you guys in the US, I hope they get the dealer thing figured out quickly. In Canada they don't actually have dealers, we deal with a distributor who brings the car to you ... other than a few shopping center pop-ups, and displays in airports, there's limited places to actually go see the cars. I know that, for now, when they take my car for service they're going to bring it to a Hyundai dealer - and honestly I really don't care. Had to be one of the easiest car buying purchases I've ever done ... they brought the car to me for a test-drive, I built and configured the car online, and put down a deposit on my credit card. I know you have different laws in the US due to the dealer lobby, but I'm surprised they couldn't piggyback on the Hyundai dealers but keep it opaque to the end customer ...

My lease isn't up until late September but I'm going over my miles now. Doesn't make sense for me to do that without knowing if the car will even ship by then and I'm itching to get a new car. As of today Genesis lost me. Question is what to get instead. Was thinking 2019 Volvo S60 but they won't ship until Q4 so now I know I don't want to wait for the G70 anymore but I don't know what to get instead. I think the Stinger is overpriced considering it's a Kia.

I'm getting close. I am heading to Toronto in a week...so I will be seeing the car, etc...so that will make things better for me. By the time I get back...it might be available, etc.

My A4 warranty ends beginning of Sep...so things need to happen.

If they delay to end of Sep or Oct...getting an S5 Sportback.

What do you think? ;););)

Don't want to say too much on here.

There is a showroom somewhat downtown Toronto: Genesis Downtown, 630 Queen Street East. They do have a few models in stock, and that's where they pull the cars for to deliver the test drives. Two main reps in there, Chris (who's actually recently from Korea, although I think he worked for Audi when he was there) and Ken. Both really great guys, if you ask them nicely they might be ok with letting you take one for a spin! DM me if you wanted me to put you in contact via email ...

I'm going to Square One.

I'm going to Square One.

Square One is a shopping mall, they have a 'store' in there with a few models - I think they have the 3.3T Sport in the light blue on display. So you can totally touch, feel and sit in one. But I don't know that they have any other cars there, or do test drives from that location. When I dropped in there was just one employee on duty, and it didn't strike me that she was a regular "Genesis Experience Manager" based on her knowledge.

Pffffft, so why don't you just buy one while you're here and drive it back?? ;)

Many moons ago it was easy to do that. Not any more. Ends up being too expensive and a PITA. Plus warranty. But you probably knew all that.

Response to my inquiry which is below the Genesis response. IMO, it is somewhat generic and does not respond accurately to my specific quires.

Dear Larry

Thank you for contacting Genesis Motor America. We appreciate your interest in our forthcoming G70.

Excitement is building for the G70, however, the release date and specifications for the G70 have not yet been announced. We encourage you to continue to visit our website at
genesis-updates, where you can subscribe to receive updates, news, and special offers via email. We realize this may not be the answer you were hoping for and apologize for any disappointment that this may cause as your satisfaction is our number one priority. We are confident that once this model is released to the US market, you will become a proud Genesis G70 owner.

We apologize for the inconvenience of there not being enough stand-alone Genesis Retailers as of yet. When the G70 does come out there will be more standalone Genesis Retailers but as of now, there isn't any information that we can provide you as to a release date.

If we can provide any additional information or assistance, you can reach us by calling our toll-free customer service number, 844-340-9741. Our hours of operation are 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Pacific Time Monday through Friday and 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Pacific Time Saturday and Sunday, or simply reply to this email.

We have documented your inquiry under case number
xxxxxxxx which can be referenced if we can provide further assistance.

Thank you again for contacting Genesis Motor America, and we hope to welcome you to our growing Genesis family in the near future.

Respectfully,
Genesis Customer Care

Message: I am the proud owner of my second Genesis (2015 3.8 Ultimate & 2018 G80 Sport). I have grown more and more alarmed daily over the lack of information and direction from Genesis concerning the dealer network and the subsequent roll-out of the long overdue G70 and the 2019 G80 & G90. Additionally, I am very concerned that I don't know what the status of an available "Genesis", not Hyundai, dealership will be in my area.

Here are recent comments from the GM of my local dealer. Not very promising

"As for standalone Genesis brand, this direction has stalled due to the state legislature. To be specific, Genesis/Hyundai has stalled in making or requesting dealers across the state and most states to create a stand-alone building for just Genesis product. As for the product, dealers are having a tough time acquiring Genesis product from the factory. It looks to me as if the factory has stalled shipment of vehicles until these relationship issues are resolved. As for the G70, it was supposed to debut this fall but now I'm being told by our factory rep that it more than likely won't debut till the first of the year. I hope this helps with your questions and please let's keep the dialogue open to ensure your ware when the product reopens."

IMO, if Genesis is to make an impact in the US market this confusion, uncertainty has to be rectified rapidly.

I want to continue to enjoy my experience with what I believe is an exceptional brand. However, the last 9 months or so have brought that into question.

Regards,

Larry
