  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

Response to my inquiry which is below the Genesis response. IMO, it is somewhat generic and not does not respond accurately to my specific quires.

Dear Larry

Thank you for contacting Genesis Motor America. We appreciate your interest in our forthcoming G70.

Excitement is building for the G70, however, the release date and specifications for the G70 have not yet been announced. We encourage you to continue to visit our website at
genesis-updates, where you can subscribe to receive updates, news, and special offers via email. We realize this may not be the answer you were hoping for and apologize for any disappointment that this may cause as your satisfaction is our number one priority. We are confident that once this model is released to the US market, you will become a proud Genesis G70 owner.

We apologize for the inconvenience of there not being enough stand-alone Genesis Retailers as of yet. When the G70 does come out there will be more standalone Genesis Retailers but as of now, there isn't any information that we can provide you as to a release date.

If we can provide any additional information or assistance, you can reach us by calling our toll-free customer service number, 844-340-9741. Our hours of operation are 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Pacific Time Monday through Friday and 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Pacific Time Saturday and Sunday, or simply reply to this email.

We have documented your inquiry under case number
xxxxxxxx which can be referenced if we can provide further assistance.

Thank you again for contacting Genesis Motor America, and we hope to welcome you to our growing Genesis family in the near future.

Respectfully,
Genesis Customer Care

Message: I am the proud owner of my second Genesis (2015 3.8 Ultimate & 2018 G80 Sport). I have grown more and more alarmed daily over the lack of information and direction from Genesis concerning the dealer network and the subsequent roll-out of the long overdue G70 and the 2019 G80 & G90. Additionally, I am very concerned that I don't know what the status of an available "Genesis", not Hyundai, dealership will be in my area.

Here are recent comments from the GM of my local dealer. Not very promising

"As for standalone Genesis brand, this direction has stalled due to the state legislature. To be specific, Genesis/Hyundai has stalled in making or requesting dealers across the state and most states to create a stand-alone building for just Genesis product. As for the product, dealers are having a tough time acquiring Genesis product from the factory. It looks to me as if the factory has stalled shipment of vehicles until these relationship issues are resolved. As for the G70, it was supposed to debut this fall but now I'm being told by our factory rep that it more than likely won't debut till the first of the year. I hope this helps with your questions and please let's keep the dialogue open to ensure your ware when the product reopens."

IMO, if Genesis is to make an impact in the US market this confusion, uncertainty has to be rectified rapidly.

I want to continue to enjoy my experience with what I believe is an exceptional brand. However, the last 9 months or so have brought that into question.

Regards,

Larry
Two things:

1) that's the most generic, beat-around-the-bush, politically correct, cookie cutter response I've ever seen LOL
2) I find it alarming how he said "When the G70 does come out there will be more standalone Genesis Retailers..." --- does this mean they are going to wait until standalone dealers are established before releasing this thing? That's HORRIBLE news if that's the case...

I'm still waiting for a response to my Facebook message... not exactly the most official channel of communication. but it's different than an email like you guys have done. Hopefully it'll be some different type of response; not expecting it though

Thanks for your post @larrymg1
This is a very "generic" answer written by somebody that was so unprofessional to make a mistake of welcoming you in a near future to Genesis family even though you are telling her you own two Genesis cars. Looks to me they really don't know how they are going to solve the Genesis dealers problem. This is getting more frustrating every day.

Not alarming, but reassuring as that is the overall goal. I don't think they are waiting for buildings to be ready, just contracts to be signed.

I'd not expect anything more than a generic response at this point. I'm sure they have a target date but it may have moved so better to say nothing rather than miss a date.

If you are waiting to buy one, yes, it is frustrating. Some here though, are not ready to buy but are getting upset over it. Why? Won't change my life even though they seem to be hiding when Christmas is coming this year.

My patience is running out...I test drove a Q50 RS and the 19's are coming out next month. I will be asking for the incentives this month on the 18's as I know they are most likely going to be aggressively selling to make room for the 19s. I know people who got the RS for 400 with 0 down earlier this year and I couldn't take advantage of it because of my current lease. Now I know its lacking in the Q50's such as no ventilated(sucks as I live in Dallas), wireless charging, no AA or Apple car play and bunch of features that the G70 has... but if they offer me a killer deal, I'm out.

Yeah, they're a very appealing car. Not perfect but still, very nice.

The dealer I went to also tricks em out. The RS I test drove was all black on black(murdered out) grille, door handles, the back chrome piece that goes tail light to tail light, tinted windows(30%) and wheels were black. Very sexy...

I, also, posted a PM on the Genesis FB page. No response as of yet. Additionally, I sent specific, individual emails to all 4 of the top executives with no response.

If you do get a response it will probably be the same from all four.
Thank you for your interest in the Genesis G70, coming soon yadda yadda, yadda.

I imagine they are under pressure and want to get it out too.

OK! Everyone can offer up their speculation on this response from the Assistant to Mr. Rapheal to the same message I have previously posted.

Good Morning Larry,

May I ask for your personal mailing address?

That actually sounds encouraging. The request for a physical address well may be to make sure your letter wasn't automated but actually sent by a human. That seems to suggest a "real" reply may follow. Whether it's actually informative remains to be seen, of course. But it's nice to know that somebody with a pulse actually is taking the effort to acknowledge that you've requested information.

He wants to send you a pen with Genesis logo
He likes you and wants to stop by for a beer
He wants to mail you an offer for life insurance
Genesis will send you a new car
You will hear from his lawyer
You're getting a pizza for lunch
You will get an autographed brochure

:whistling::hookah: I will gladly accept all of the above. Correction. Pass on the lawyer.

Definitely encouraging!!! I'd bet all my life savings that they show up tomorrow morning at 9 AM with the first G70 in the US with a giant bow on the roof, helicoptered in, with champagne on ice and a big press event showing the giant success of the Genesis brand!

Womp, womp, womp....

They're asking for his physical address to send him the automated message. (:

I actually talked to a Hyundai dealer in my area that's also qualified to sell Genesis, and according to them, only Genesis-only dealerships will be given G70s to sell. I knew they were buying out Hyundai dealership licenses to sell Genesis, but I didn't think they'd try to accomplish that before selling the G70. Genesis dealerships haven't even started construction in my city so that could be a lengthy delay...

It seems like the dealers don't really know what is going on either...

A new chapter of information from a Genesis representative.

Received a phone call at 13:00 EDT from a Brian Springer, National Consumer Affairs Specialist, Genesis USA.
Recap of our conversation:
Calling on behalf of Genesis senior management.
He provided the following details:
1. The approval of various licensing requirements for all 50 states to allow for the sale of 2019 models to approved Genesis dealerships is a work in progress. Numerous states (He would not identify a number) have not approved the licensing process. The various states each have issues with Genesis that they, Genesis, are attempting to work through. He would not specify what those issues are and to what end they would be resolved.
2. Until a given state issue the various approvals there will be NO notifications from Genesis USA to prospective dealers in that given state to accept or decline the offer from Genesis to become a Genesis dealer. (Build out of a standalone dealership store will occur over prescribed timeline) Dealers have 60 days from issuance of the invitation to accept or decline the offer. Dealers in states where licensing approval has been granted have or are receiving their invitation to be a new Genesis dealer with the requisite 60-day response from the dealer.
3. States that significantly delay approval will push back the availability of any (2019 G70, G80, G90) in that given state and the subsequent invitation for dealers to join the dealership program. He would not speculate on how many states are presenting issues and how long this process could take.
4. His best estimate on the availability of the G70 is mid to late September or October. This would only occur where the above-described approval process has been completed. (He gave me an example of California where the process is not resolved and dealers have not been notified.)
5 He responded to my concern on a given market not being granted a Genesis dealership with: That all 2017-18 models will be serviced by local Hyundai dealers. As previously known all 2019 models will only be sold and serviced through approved Genesis dealerships.
He expressed his appreciation of my concerns on both the dealership situation and the availability of any or all 2019 models. Genesis is aware of the concerns and the potential negatives of this rollout process and is doing everything possible to resolve the introduction of dealers and 2019 models as fast as possible. He committed to passing on my concerns on behalf of existing owners and potential new owners.

We chatted for 20+ minutes. If I recall any other salient information I will append this post.
