  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

I have to tell you, I was seriously considering the G70 but, this past Friday changed my mind.
I was sitting in a Starbucks parking lot here on Long Island, and the car was totaled in a freak accident. Woman in a Land Rover jumped the curb on the main road, lost total control, took out 4 signs and a 50 foot light pole, went airborne, turned on its side, and slammed into me. I was sitting in the car, talking to my brother.
The “bigness” of that car, saved me.
That is insane man. Good you’re good!

Was the dumbass bitch texting while driving?

I was told she was putting on makeup

Wow @david2u that is crazy! Glad you are okay. It is actually kind of funny because my most recent BMW (535) was written off in an accident as well. And the size definitely was an asset. I still ended up with the smaller car, but I did spend a lot of time thinking about it.

Got my first dealer phone call.

Alexandria, VA is the FIRST Genesis dealer in the USA. Their dealer code is even #1.

Anyhoo...they got their allocation email and he called me. I am declining all of them at this point...not one single 3.3T AWD Sport !!! Wow.

Here is the breakdown of what he is getting...

  • 11 cars...
  • 2 AWD 2.0T (Ibis White and Malorca Blue)
  • 5 RWD 3.3T (1 is Design edition in green and 1 Dynamic in red)
  • 4 RWD 2.0T
NOTE...IMPORTANT: He does NOT have a delivery date. He said they could show up this week...or in several weeks. So do NOT show up (if you live near there) expecting to see cars. Also...don't call bombarding them with questions. If you are serious about one of the above cars...feel free to call and ask about specific colors and trim...and potentially claim one. He does not know other States, other dealers...or any other details that we discuss here.

Cheers...B.

So this is weird because I have been in touch with the sales manager at this dealership and about an hour before your post he gave me a call as well. He told me he wanted to know which color and trim I wanted so he could push hard for them, not that he already had an allotment.

Btw in the brochure I saw Casablanca white, is that the same as ibis white if not what is the difference?

It's Casablanca White. I am cross shopping with Audi...their plain white is called Ibis. Sorry about that.

So...I got a call from a Genesis Rep. He was sent my way from one of the execs I was hounding. Man they must hate me....LOL.

Anyway...he confirmed that 4 dealers in VA were getting cars this week. One of them being Alexandria, VA...which I already posted about.

So I called the other 3 dealers...and talked to the GM's. None of them see allocation...and none of them got any emails like Alexandria did.

So either they are really just showing up with cars at these dealers...or this rep that called me is full of it. But I could hear the guy using the computer and looking stuff up.

What a nightmare. I asked about NC...and he said none. But he did say SC was getting them as well. I did not inquire further since that is too far for me.

With cars apparently landing soon in at least one state - any idea when the "Build Your Own" will be up and running on the Genesis USA website? It would sure be nice to get an idea of how stripped the 6MT really is.

No idea. Starting to give up on asking questions...since I get different replies even from top execs. Last I heard is that it would be ready close to when pricing was released. Well pricing was almost a week ago.

With all this disorganization on their highest anticipated volume car, I'm leary now and getting in patient. I contemplated the Alpha Romeo after seeing one up close today. What are people's thoughts on that vehicle?

I tried to lease one earlier this year, wary of long term reliability. The terms were unfavorable so I gave up. I definitely was a fan of the Guilia Ti model with the red interior and all the sport trimmings.

Saw a Guilia today parked near Santa Ana civic center. Nice from the back and side. Great interior. Front grill just ruins it for me, though...
