  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

Okay, heard back from Genesis of Atlanta. They are not adding a premium but rather a lot of extras to all of their cars. "Thanks again for your interest. All of our G70s come with all weather floor mats ($295), tint ($395), and paint and fabric protection treatment ($495). They are not available to view today but should be soon. Please let me know if you have any other questions."

I would pay for the tint, but the selling price still has to be below sticker. The paint and fabric treatment does cost the dealer something. probably $25 in chemicals and a half hour labor. I've had it done but for about $150. I'm not interested in all weather mats. That said, I've never paid sticker and don't like any car enough to do so.

Dealers may not mark-up...but they sure have a right to sell at MSRP. Wonder how long it will take for them to start going under MSRP.

We have been waiting for this car forever. Now that it is becoming available...do we wait even longer for the price drop? Could be another 6 months. This is quite stressful...dear lord.

He did get back to me. He said they probably will not be discounting for awhile so may have to pay for those add-ons. He did also say that they are not putting anything on the leather seats.

Cars.com search results for G70 up to 49 at the moment!

Three dealers:
Burns Buick-GMC-Hyundai (NJ)
Genesis of Atlanta
Jim Ellis Hyundai (Atlanta)
Sorry, my bad; not sure how this got pulled into my search results... then I didn't look closely enough when I copy/pasted.
Now there's a Chicago G70: McGrath City Hyundai

2018 Genesis G80 3.3T Sport AWD

Dealer Price
$55,659
MSRP
$58,925

Another thing he mentioned in his email and I don't know if it is accurate or not, but he said there will only be a 100 or so made available nationwide. I don't know, and don't think he does, how long a period that may be. I guess he could have been talking about some special editions or something also.

Give it few months, I think the stinger took like 4-6 months for the hype to calm a bit and is now selling for at least 8K under MSRP, so you you wait a bit you could saved thousands. I am sure your A4 will be able to last that long.

^ This.

While I agree that Genesis dealers should not be marking their cars up especially given their situation, their greed is real. I'm not sure that the G70 and other Genesis models will see the full sting (pun intended) of the Stinger since it is marketed as a Genesis and more upmarket, but I feel there will be discounts to be had, especially in the Midwest/snow belt states with RWD versions.

To add...if the cars just arrived...and you claim one...you can tell them immediately not to do any of that. I doubt any of that has been done yet !!!
Many of these add-ons are installed at the port. There are pre-dealer prep services that add these items.

I forgot to mention that the infotainment does look dated. I wasn’t impressed at all. Hopefully they update that for new model years.

It's pretty much the same one (at least looks wise) they use in all hyundai models dating back to mid 2010s including my car. Using android auto on it negates any issues though, and it's very responsive. Still not as fancy as audi/new 3 series/c class ones but that's one of the reasons why its msrp is lower.

I can't imagine the G70 selling more than the stinger, period, given the shortage of dealers and the slowing sedan market in general. At least the stinger is a liftback which is a sporty compromise for a crossover with the only comparable competiton being the a5 sportback. The G70 will definitely need incentives to sell when bmw and mb are offering huge lease deals and with every luxury automaker fighting tooth and nail for market share in the luxury compact sedan segment

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
At this rate, I might just wait for a 2020 G70. It's a brand new car with potential problems. Might as well wait for some minor fixes and a much better deal.

Genesis of Cherry Hill just called. They received another shipment and have new trims in stock. I couldn't ask which trims though

I’m thinking the same thing. We would probably have to wait 6 months for the hype and prices to die down. That puts us into next year. Then what’s another few months to wait. That of course if you have a car to drive in the mean time. I’d like the infotainment to improve. I know that they are the same as the Hyundai and it’s very very dated.

The Stinger dealers near me don't seem to have received the message about Stinger prices. They still have $5k of "market adjustment" on their stickers, at least on the GT2. Kia leases add insult to injury with high MF. I doubt they sell many. It wouldn't surprise me if the Genesis dealer near me copies them and doesn't sell anything either.

Per the Stinger being a Lift Back.
That is the main reason I don't like it. I test drove one. Very poor rear view out that slanted rear window.
I like to see what is behind me when I'm driving.

Wait for the 2021. I am sure it will be even better. 😊

Actually it probably will be. I remember reading some articles that said historically vehicles in their second year of release have more problems than any other year. The first year of release would be in second.

Yes I agree it probably will be. Just keep waiting.
