Here’s my very detailed review of the 2019 Genesis G70 Dynamic Havana Red
Overview:
I went from a 2009 BMW 135i Convertible to this, so some is very new to me...esp. infotainment. Consider my perspective in my review.
I really love this car. It’s exhilarating to drive. The ride is wonderful, seats are comfortable, even as a passenger. As a 5’4” female, the car fits me perfectly. Not too big, not too small. Husband is 6’3” and driving he’s got plenty of space. However, as a passenger, there’s not a ton of foot room...meaning the tops of his feet hit the upper part of the passenger foot space.
Given that I’ve never had any type of infotainment, some of this pertains to all the toys I get to play with that I’ve never had the pleasure of enjoying...Alot of these are super nit picky. I wanted to give a very detailed review so that you understand the nuances of the car.
Bottom line, I feel fantastic in this car, I feel it’s a head-turner, and the creature comforts are top notch...
Loves:
- Drives to perfection. Everything about how this car handles is perfect. I test drove Audi, BMW,
Cadillac, Mercedes, Lexus,
Lincoln...no comparison even in their “sport modes”. I will admit not all of the cars I tested were 6 bangers. I did drive some 4 bangers...don’t waste your time IMHO
- Styling is a head turner. The car is really sharp...beefy, aggressive, pretty damn hot! But we all know that

- Sport mode acceleration is really fast! I switch between Sport and comfort...but mainly keep it in Sport
- No turbo lag in my opinion. U press the pedal and the car goes! I had a BMW 135i convertible and there was definitely turbo lag.
- AWD makes a YUGE difference. It’s been raining a-lot and I have punched that gas pedal and the rear tires don’t spin. Very nice!
- Mirrors automagically fold when you lock the car
- When you put it in reverse, your music turns down...ya know, cuz lower music makes you see better

- When using native Navi, turn by turn is in the Headup display! If they would only have cop alerts too.
- Top view camera...I can finally park straight in a parking space!
- Adaptive cruise control...really great in rush hour. Hubs kept asking “did you do that or the car?”...or at times he was asking if I was gonna break...I said “Lucy got this”
- Seat adjustment buttons on the left side of the passenger seat...so u can move it up or down very easily for your passengers or peeps in the back seat. Genius!
- Napa diamond leather with the red stitching. Super comfortable, beautiful, stunning
- Many seat adjustment options, even side bolsters!
- When you put it in Sport mode, the side bolsters tighten up
- Remote start from your App...Set your temp from your phone. Starts up and is awaiting for you.
- When the navi gives oral instructions, the speakers in the front mute...but the back speakers stay on. Totally cool!
- Wireless charging is neat, but if you want to do Android or Apple, it has to be wired. You should probably turn off the Qi charger because the phone gets really hot...
- Touchscreen is within reaching distance, even for me with T-rex arms. I don’t find that not having a knob to control the infotainment is a bad thing at all.
- No autoshut off at stop lights! Yay!
- All the other cool features like heated mirrors, smart trunk, safety features.
- Car really feels like a luxury car.
- Parked next to an M4, my Lucy looked way hotter. Dunno what year it was, but Lucy beat it by a mile. And at a fraction of the price. I know, superficial...
MEH:
- The fake engine noise they push thru the speakers. U can turn it off. I leave it on tho

- Some things are intuitive and others aren’t. I find myself constantly looking for the clock.
Dislikes:
- If using native navi, u can’t enter an address if you are moving. Really dumb.
- Native navi is not intuitive at all. I still can’t find my presets...I need to read the manual to learn more about it.
- Cabin noise, it’s not a quiet car. I think the G80’s are much quieter. You can hear the road, and rain and stuff. But it’s ok, just turn up your tunes.
- Cannot run WAZE (so u can see where the cops are) and the native navi at same time when phone is plugged in. Best of both worlds would be to run both and see your cops and also see the turn-by-turn on the Headup display.
-
Apple Carplay is buggy. Has crashed my iPhone X a couple times...it just freezes. I know this is probably not Genesis’ fault, but it’s annoying as shit.
- Comfort mode is the default so you have to switch it every time u start (I don’t think I can change that but haven’t really looked yet)
- Seat settings don’t change with different keys. So if my husband has been driving it, and then I drive it, the key isn’t paired to our individual settings. Maybe this is a setting?
- You have to press the “brake hold” button on every start...the feature that lets u long press the brake at a light and take foot off
Nice to have in next upgraded Model:
- LED lighting...anywhere!
- A lighted entry that says Genesis under the door
- Automagic trunk (for convenience...like if u need to close it from the inside)
- Updated Infotainment (although it’s really not bad, just needs updated UI)
