  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

Just heard from my local dealer in Indiana that they’re getting a couple of G70s next week, so Indiana’s licensing must have finally gone through.

Must have been us.

According to the video below, Erwin Raphael, the Executive Director and General Manager for Genesis Motor America, said this at the LA Auto Show:

“We are licensed in every state and Washington, D.C. We’re going through the process of appointing our first dealers. We currently have 78 dealers in 19 states and we’re getting more every day. It’ll probably be by the end of Q1 before we plateau at somewhere in the mid-300 dealers...”

We actually hit 20 states on Saturday as Mississippi is now listed with inventory. We only hit 78 dealers with inventory this morning as a few more showed up but I now have 46 more that appear to be close to getting inventory. Things are moving along.

That is correct! Glad to hear they watch what their customers want as well. Now just make sure you guys order a 3.3T Prestige AWD in Mallorca Blue :)
I think the only Mallorca Blue we have coming in is a Sport, and it's due in early Jan. We'll be seeing a lot more in the coming months. If you are looking to buy right now, we can always dealer trade.

Does a dealer request what trims and colors they want, or does Genesis simply send an allocation to each dealer based on some formula or algorithm?

As I observed before, the configerator will create over well over 200 combos between engines, drivetrains, wxterior color and interior color. It would seem that getting everyone’s exact match would require a huge amount of inventory.

For now...dealers get random stock. If you push the system...you can get an existing stock item from port...but that’s a nightmare (trust me).

But you can do dealer exchanges at this point.

If there is a crazy trim that doesn’t exist at any port...or any dealer...I guess you order it. But I don’t know of anyone ordering from S.Korea at this point. I would imagine a custom order would be ~2 months out.

We were able to pick out a majority of our allocation. An employee's boyfriend wanted a specific trim and color, and we were able to get it.

it seems that you might be the best person to answer this question that I have had for the longest time:
I understand that many Genesis dealers are not up and running yet, for whatever reason. but for those states and few dealerships that are up and running (Got their first inventory since October at least) why does those dealers do not have a good inventory? for example the dealer close to me got 5 cars in october and they have sold 4 early on and they have only 1 in stock for sometime now! These cars are made in April/May of 2018, aren't these cars already in the port? why do they keep them to rust in the port versus sending more inventory to the dealers that are up and running already?

and my other question is: can a dealer get a specific trim/color to be shipped from the port/main-inventory? or they get what they get

thanks.

I ran the a few VINs on the one's we have allocated to us, and they all seem to be built early June. Only reason I can think of as to why those dealers aren't getting any more is a supply issue. Genesis might be holding onto them so that as dealers go live, they have cars that they can actually send to them. Don't want to send them all out then run out of cars to send new dealers. I'm not sure how long it takes for them to get here from Korea, but doubt it's quick. My G90 was built 3/31/17. It was allocated to us May 10th from the port in Seattle. It arrived at our dealership June 1st. I took delivery June 2nd. They have holding lots all over the country. The closest one I know of to Indy is in the Chicago area, which is where my G90 came through. Seeing as it took 3 weeks to get to our dealership from Seattle, I imagine the G70's we have coming in within a week of our allocation are coming from a holding lot somewhere. That's my guess, and it's only a guess. I've only talked to our Genesis sales rep once, so I don't get to ask him questions when he's here. He stays up front, and I'm so busy back here, I don't have time to wander around.

Can we order a New G70 from an established Genesis Dealer with available colors and options? Get it exactly the way I would want it?? Assuming it would take about 3 months, if available? Thank-you..

As long as the dealer has points available (cars sold) they should be able to request a specific vehicle in their allocation. That is how @Beefer got his.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Thank-you Mr. Turtle. Now if we could get some approved Dealers in So Cal, I could check out the G70 and make a decision. I always prefer to order my cars when possible. Come in, PDI, add any accessories needed, Detail, take home. Usually a couple of days. Get the car in my garage...

Just got an email from David at Genesis of Springfield Va. They are getting a shipment in of a dozen more G70s. I figured since he has treated a few of our members right, I would post the details. May want to contact him if there is anything you are looking for.

Just they know how much will be able to discount or even to markup. Calling them and asking is the only way to know.
