  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

"Conquest" question:

My bimmer 340 lease is ending shortly. I realize that I'm asking for thoughts or opinions, not official Genesis answerers.

I may extend the lease for a few months, or I may just let it expire and drive another car. If my "last car" was a bimmer, would I still be eligible for the Conquest discount, or does the lease have to be active?

My understanding is that you have to show a current registration under your name with a qualifying vehicle on it.

You MUST provide current proof of active registration. Photocopy is fine.

Your lease doesn’t have to be active because they won’t know if it is active. If your car registration expires after your lease, show that. My lease was up in December but my registration ran through June. I bought the same day my lease was up, so this wasn’t a problem for me. But, as long as your registration has your name and the date goes past the purchase date, you’ll get the discount.

Mallorca Blue is pretty damn good, though. Have you had a chance to see it in person yet? It's tempting for me, even though I normally couldn't care less about blue cars.

That’s been one of the main colors making the rounds at the local auto shows. If anyone has Genesis appearing at their local car show, Mallorca Blue will likely be on one of the G70 models on display.

Ok, but as I said, that means they've got a car that won a lot of awards *last* year finally becoming available several months after it was hot. Ho hum.

My point is this is a pretty classic B school challenge. How do you make the most money in this situation? Discount heavily to get the cars out there and figure that cars on the road create more sales (and more dollars) in the long run? Or squeeze current customers for a few thousand more per sale because your inventory is low, at the cost of making the car a rarity on the road, and thus an oddball in comparison to zillions of BMWs and Audis out there?

I'm guessing in this internet-charged age where number of users counts for more than actual profit that there's going to be deals to had on this car. I can say for myself since I have an eye on a model with MSRP of $41k that I'll be offering no more than $35k and seeing what happens. Maybe I won't get the car I want, or maybe I'll get a great deal. 🤓

My experience with the local Hyundai (want to be Genesis) dealers in California is a difference between the “haves” and “have nots.”

What I mean is that certain dealers (like the one I bought 3 Hyundais from) sell a lot and continue to have big inventories. I’m not in that business, but I get the impression that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts, in that those high volume dealers don’t make a huge markup on each car, but get some kind of volume incentives.

Other dealers (like the one I take my Hyundais to for maintenance) rake in the money on their service departments, but their inventory is terrible.

Your assumptions may work better if it was an Elantra, not so much with a Genesis. There is a limited supply and probably will be for a while. There is a limited market for products in the 50k range. Many of us would like to have a Lamborghini, but it I saw 10 in one day the likelihood of me buying one remains the same.

Genesis had a lot of publicity, but there is still limited supply. No reason for big discounts yet. Try back in a few more years.

True. The $149 month lease on my 2011 Elantra was nice. Won’t see those kind of specials on G70s.

All good..
Just got pumped when I saw that Ohio was on the board and wanted to share my experience..
In the large scope of things...we’re a very small group of motorists that have sought out this specific car..
Didn’t expect so much hate..
Seems to be the norm for forums these days..
Lame..

Hello Natas.

There are quite a few posters here that are respectful and are not so quick to jump all over someone with whom they disagree or think are posting in the wrong thread.

I try to just avoid getting into it with the posters who are, shall we say, lacking a bit in hospitality. The info about Genesis on this forum seems very reliable and informed, but there’s certainly some lack of civility on the part of a few, but overall I find them to be welcoming. 😊

Is there a way to find out where Genesis of Cleveland is located? Just an FYI--river may be frozen soon

Sorry, I missed this post and happened to stumble on it now. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find out which dealer will be Genesis of Cleveland. If I run across it I will hopefully remember to post the info.

According to Genesis' website:
GENESIS OF CLEVELAND
Located at Genesis Of Cleveland Hyundai
19991 Villaview Road
Cleveland , OH 44119

Which, from what info I could gather, is Rick Case

Evidently Genesis hasn't fixed the bug on the Dealer finder. When I did that yesterday and again just now, it shows no dealer in Cleveland. From my previous tests their website only recognizes dealers when using certain zip codes for the city, in this case I used 44144.

You're awesome, many thanks!

It is just poor programming and quality testing on Genesis' part. I just tried it again using the zip code for the dealer and now no Ohio dealers show even though this morning when I tried it using 44119 it did. Oh well, at least the car does not seem to have these problems. ;)

Use 44101...I get Genesis of Cleveland every time.

Whatever algorithm they are using for the radius search has a huge hole in it. I would imagine they didn't develop it but rather are using a third party function. Could be their implementation or even dataset is causing the problems though rather than the coding itself.

@TurtleBoy
I may have missed this... but I dont think I've seen anything about which G70 you're looking for or already picked up... Or are you just here for the people? lol
If so, then many thanks and hats off to you again sir!

I actually wasn't going to say anything about this until next week but back in December my wife and I decided to take a different path for our next vehicle. I had been looking closely at the G80 Sport and that is what brought me to this site. While waiting for Genesis to become available in Colorado I continued my research and we decided to try out the crossover/SAV market and ordered a BMW X5. It completed the build last week and it should be at my dealer today or tomorrow. :)

I thought that a Genesis would be my next vehicle but it just wasn't in the cards this time. I plan on sticking around here though and continuing with the tracking of the dealers since hopefully it is helping people out and I enjoy doing it.

You're a rare bird. We all thank you for your continued effort.
