  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

It doesn't look really legit.

Maybe it will prove us wrong. It says four dealers will be open by tomorrow. I have seen nothing regarding CA dealers getting a dealer code but guess it could happen very, very quickly although I think choosing the Rams to win straight up would be a much better bet.

I sent the forum administrator a message advising of the truncation and redirection to an unopenable page.
I am taking the Rams to win straight up.

We are just speculating given past history with sites named like that, it could fool us all and be correct.
I have been to that site before -- several months ago; it did not seem like it was regularly updated and did not have many posters. I wound up here because it is active--with brilliant posters.

I think $1200 off MSRP is a perfectly reasonable offer. Of course this car is in a special place at the moment. It's a brand new model, has won a ton of awards, is the kind of car that a certain group of people fall in love with, and is currently in very short supply. All of those points argue for the dealer to ask a higher price. On the other hand, the car is entering a very crowded segment with well established competition that has more "brand prestige" (which is something that a certain group of people also fall in love with), and is also a sedan at a time when sales of sedans are falling fast; in addition, the manufacturer has an incentive to get the car out on the road fast so more people see it. Those points all argue for a lower price.

I took a quick look at the latest TrueCar stats... photo attached. I'm not sure how useful this information is because there are so few sales and thus data may be too thin to draw conclusions (for instance, they don't have enough data to tell us anything about the price on cars with option packages), but it makes some sense that early sales (as noted here) were a bit over MSRP as the earliest buyers should be people focused on this particular car, perhaps impressed by the awards, and willing to pay more to get their hands on it. But if this is correct and invoice is about $1500 below MSRP (base model), then the dealer should do perfectly well selling the car at $1200 below MSRP. (I'm assuming there's probably some dealer incentive -- a bonus paid to the dealer by the manufacturer -- of at least a few hundred dollars.) But you may have to wait a few weeks/a month or two, before they are willing to sell at that price.

Switching topics... re the sound system, I am curious to hear it -- for me it will be a big factor in whether I want to buy the car. I know from car shopping experience that some sound systems get "bad" reviews because the system doesn't have booming bass -- that's something a lot of people want these days. I myself prefer a more balanced system. I listen mostly to acoustic music and to me the most difficult thing to reproduce realistically is a solo piano. But... I have discovered if you have a quiet car (to me, this is the key reason to spend more for a "luxury" car) and a good sound system, then what you have is a rolling pair of good headphones. 😎 When I "upgraded" from my old Toyota to a Mercedes GLC a couple of years ago, I couldn't believe the difference it made in my attitude about sitting in traffic. I now almost look forward to traffic jams... emphasis on almost... 🤓

Yes, listen to the sound system for yourself with the type of music you like and let your ears be the judge. I have already made my opinions clear in prior posts. I said that my old premium Bose system sounds better than he Genesis Lexicon system with some music such as rock and disco which it most definitely does—to my ears. The bass is much more crisp and less boomy and the electric guitars are more powerful and penetrating. Bose does make some good high end auto sound systems—google Bose Panaray, 2017 audio system of the year etc. Some of you seem to be very touchy (millennials?) whenever someone is not a 100% Genesis homer to as if I were insulting your wife or questioning your manhood. Get over it—Bose does make some good high end systems. “Google” Bose Panaray, 2017 audio system of the year etc. A couple of weeks ago I wrote a summary of the pros (which I emphasized dramatically outweighed the cons) and cons of the G70 based on my experience AS AN OWNER and some of you seemed offended with some of my cons. For example, I mentioned that the back seat was too small compared to its peers and some of you actually said it was not. Come on, man! Every review written (it seems) talks about the tiny back seat with one such review even calling it a “fatal flaw.”
So all I’m asking for in these forums is for all of us to be is respectful and HONEST. If you don’t like something about the G70, say it—how else are the people at Genesis going to get the feedback they need to make their great car even better.
Go Rams!

Been talking with Genesis of Bend for a while now, and today I was told that they are going to be able to order my car exactly as I want it - Santiago Silver, Sport, AWD, 3.3 w/grey interior stitching!

I'm so pumped!

I am happy for you, man. I just purchased my Silver w gray stitching yesterday (the one you saw in Illinois earlier this month). The waiting is definitely the hard part. I hope your wait is shorter than my 6 weeks.

:hangloose:

Congrats! Now to wait...
I am in the same boat, it's been two weeks now and the wait is killing me. How long they did say it would until delivery?

Unsure... This is all new to them and they've been very open to me about how little they know about everything, haha.

They told me they will place the order on Monday (the 4th). I'll see if I can get more details at that time.

Well when I placed my order at Mississauga Genesis and they said it would be 12 weeks IIRC, but he also said that it usually takes closer to 9. May be different in Canada and being on the East Coast.

Hopefully it will be shorter since the cars are being held in Portland. (At least that's what I was told.)

Got my fingers crossed because of this possibility!

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Great news Todda. It seems that Genesis ordering and delivery has made it into the 20th century. (My last two bimmers have made it from Munich to the SF Bay area in 9 weeks, but of course those were delivered in the 21st century.)

That forum says:

“Smith confirmed that Genesis Motors expect to have approximately 4 Genesis dealers open for business in California this week, with more joining over the next two weeks. Shortly he expects to have over 30 dealers selling the new G70 (and the rest of the brand's lineup) in California.”

https://www.g70forum.com/#/search/1802?page=1&q=California&showposts=0

Four days ago was Wednesday. “This week” is now over. No G70s in California.

So, was Kevin Smith wrong or this other forum?

No surprise, because I received an email from National Genesis Consumer Affairs on 01/29/19 that said:

“We are still in the process of authorizing Genesis retailers in California. No dealership has been designated an authorized Genesis retailer in California or received 2019 model year vehicles. The latest update I have received is late February/ early March before vehicle arrive at retailers.”

I didn’t think to post it earlier, because there was nothing to contradict it, but given the posting from this “other” forum, I though I better chime in.

I will go post to that other forum and ask them, why they said there will be Genesis “this week” and there are none.
