  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello everyone, I am new to the genesis owners forum and had a quick question for everyone. I test drove a 4.6 with Tech Package today and could not find an option to switch the map to a 3D view. Does anyone know if this is even possible? I have an aftermarket Kenwood nav system in my Sonata and it has it and I know Infiniti has that option as well. Thanks in advance!

As far as I know this is not possible, but I could be wrong. There are so many features that many of us are still learning them......:D

I have the 3D in my portables and like it, but I find that with the big screen in Gennie, I reeally don't miss it. In fact, until this thread, I hadn't even thought about it.

No 3D View.

I always use the "North Up" Screen, because that is the way I read a map. Map always pointing North, and car arrow revolves to the different directions.

It it my understanding that for the 3D View, you must use the view whereas it always shows the direction your car is going as up, and the map revolves around the car arrow.

I have just purchased a 2010 Genesis 4.60 with the tech package, Unfortunately the dealer did not have a Manual for the navigation system, does anyone know were one could be purchase, downloaded etc...........

You should have got a DIS manual in the black user manual kit that contains info on the NAV system. If you didn't get one, you can download the 2009 version from the top of the logon page called "Sticky - 2009 Documentation". I don't think there is any change in the manual from 2009 to 2010 on DIS.

/agree that there should be no changes to the DIS from 2009

If it was a new car sale, then the dealer should make good on the manuals. There's a part number for the manual bundle, so they could easily order a set.

Portion of Nav directions are displayed in 3D(merging into highways, etc.), but no real time 3D display.
It would be nice to have that kind of display though.

I've been used to the Birdseye view (3D) with the Infiniti Navigation.
I never liked Birdseye View, to me it's misleading when you're trying to judge distances to upcoming intersections. The flat/2D perspective is more useful, even if doesn't look quite as neat.

The Infinity nav system is really great though (I just finished leasing an 07 G35 sedan). Touchscreen is great for entering destinations, and the general layout and UI/design is very good. IMHO they pretty much set the benchmark for a well thought-out Nav system. The Genesis Tech pkg Nav has some strong points of its own (love the huge screen), but I'll have to live with it for a while to fully form an opinion.

I agree that the Infiniti's UI design is very good.
Drove an '08(?) Inifiniti G37 Sedan and thought the screen looked awesome.
Genesis on the other hand, has a very understated, clean look to it.
Some might think I'm funny, but I like the font of the display(Century Gothic-like font). :D
