4) G70 was the scapegoat for the dealer cluster F. Still not fixed...but it will get there.

Except that the G70 couldn't even make it into dealer lots on time, effectively delaying its arrival and killing off the hype generated by the media in 2018.When G70 came out, Genesis was also using the same strategy as the new G80 - lower price, more standard options/features, good chassis/suspension, more value than its competitors. Almost all media reviews raved over it, and it got multiple this or that prizes.
what is "Ergo Motion Driver’s Seat "?
Absolutely agree. I thought I got a reasonable deal (especially considering first year of G80 SPORT/3.3T ) on my 2018 G80 Sport AWD Feb 2018 purchase. The 2021 prices make me feel like I robbed my dealer when purchasing my 2018.PS: Buying my G90 in March feels like buying Apple stock just before the MacIntosh hit. (No, not that I think it will appreciate in value, hehe). It feels like I simply recognized/discovered an amazing vehicle at an amazing price before everybody else caught on.... (and the prices jump madly).
(and the looks I get in Montreal..., might be the only one in town.) That's fun too!
At this moment I will be conservative about how the new G80 will perform in US market.

Now almost 2 years passed, look at its sales figure - among all its major competitors, it even cannot beat the "weakest" one (Lexus IS). Only some "small" players such as the Jaguar XE, Cadillac ATS fall behind it.
The people in this forum are smarter/wiser than other brand owners. That's what I feel too. So how come "The car of the year" didn't shine in sales. The Cova thing would affect all cars equally. I drove it and felt it is preferable to a BMW 3 or 4

1) Winning Press and media awards has no correlation with a new car’s sales. It simply means that the car itself is great.
2) G70 effectively went on sale in 2019...that’s barely a year ago.
3) Pre-COVID-19 G70 sales we’re trending up and by mid year were right there with the IS.
Hmm, I think a lot of people are massively underestimating how difficult it is to build a new brand and get consumer mindshare in this space. It is a very crowded space with enormous marketing dollars invested by all the competition. It takes years of repeating the messaging to build.
At the moment most consumers in North America still don't even know the Genesis brand, much less what a G70 is. They will need to up their add spending considerably. And they should...., they invested all that R&D on these new platforms - they better get the word out.
That's awfully presumptuous of you to assume that most consumers actually look up physical sales numbers online to judge whether or not to buy a vehicle. And no, the G70 is the definition of a niche product- it's a compact sports sedan sold at a time when everyone wants a large crossover.I understand there are always excuses for something that is "not so successful", but it is quite a hard sell to most consumers that something is great, but sales are bad. Especially for something which is not targeting at niche market, but claimed to be competing with rivals with vast acceptance in the market.
From my observation Genesis has spent enormous money in marketing and advertisement last year. Especially starting at the beginning of 2019 Q2, there are extensive bombardment of Genesis ads everywhere - TV, magazines, online websites etc.
At the 2019 LA auto show, Genesis even bought out almost all the possible ad spots, the whole convention center's exterior (front and side) are physically covered with huge Genesis advertisements which is ~30 ft X 30 ft in measurement. The 1st exhibition immediately following the entrance is Genesis. It is impossible to not seeing/knowing Genesis if someone wants to shop for new cars in the US market, unless he does not use internet, not watching TV, not reading news papers/magazines, not talk to anyone at all.
Also let's not forget back in 1989, the immediate success of the Lexus LS400 once it hits the market. I think back at that time, it is a more difficult and even impossible case than what Genesis is dealing with right now.

Moreover, you can't brush aside what others have said about the dealership situation to fit your false personal narrative about Genesis making a supposedly unappealing vehicle.
You're not on the same page as everyone else. We aren't talking about the "dealership experience". We are talking about how the car literally could not make it onto dealer lots on time to be sold and how the dealer network was scrambled to the extent that every other existing Genesis vehicle from 2018-2019 got halved in sales. These are reasons that have nothing to do with the car itself.I would not blame the dealership issue to be the sole factor - I even do not think it is one of the top reasons. Obviously if one really like the car, dealership is not the deal breaker. Like almost all forum members here who have already purchased a Genesis, we all know Genesis dealership experience is far away from other brands but we still buy their cars.

Whatever subjective complaints you have about the vehicle mean nothing if people weren't even able to see it on lots when it was supposed to be seen.
First off, when you make statistical claims that, I expect an actual citation. Please provide it.Out of the G70's whole US inventory:
- More than 1/3 of them have been sitting in dealership for more than half year;
- More than 3/4 of them have been sitting in dealership for more than 3 months
When the car you advertised and hyped up and promised to launch in 2018 gets delayed almost a year to 2019 with a smaller confused dealer network, those who were waiting would no longer be interested. Welcome to Advertising 101.Obviously no issue in "the car literally could not make it onto dealer lots on time to be sold", so no such excuse now.

For reference, the Kia Stinger, which sits in a far less popular segment than the G70 (the 4-door coupes of the A5 and 4-Series), outsold the G70 every year. And Kia as a brand has a much harder case to make to be selling $50k+ sedan than Genesis. Go look at the K900 sales for reference. With all that taken into consideration, you want to give me an explanation for how the Stinger managed to beat the G70?
