  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Car Dealerships (Freestanding)

Im sitting in N. Cal and have been hoping for years for Genesis to open a standalone within 100 miles of me (Sacramento). Id have to believe between the demographics (income and age), sales numbers the numbers would warrant at least one dealership/service center between the Bay Area and Sacramento. I shall continue to wait or hold off until I retire.
Wow. When I was working my firm had its Sacramento area office in Roseville. The Sacramento area has a population of around 2.4 million people. It is incredible that there is no Genesis dealership there.

Sac was supposed to get one on Fulton. It was cancelled and now Rocklin is getting one at the old Camping World location. If you didn't know Roseville Hyundai just lost the ability to service Genesis. You can see my post in the GV60 forum.

Edit: I see someone else mentioned Roseville losing Genesis.

I’m a little confused, When you say ”it was cancelled” , who cancelled it?

Also how could Genesis of Roseville lose the ability to service Genesis cars? Are the closing?

What am I missing here?

Genesis customer care responded to my case. They contacted Dublin Hyundai/Genesis and they have no problem providing valet service to my house 120 miles away. I even got a email confirmation from both Genesis Corp and Dublin. A+++ Genesis & Dublin!!!

I drove by the future Genesis Rocklin dealer today. Strange they have signs up, one visible from I-80. No construction work and 100 Mercedes in mechanical bays and parking lots.

Genesis Rocklin now has a website landing page, phone number, and shows up on the Genesis website. I called the local number and spoke to someone who said they are taking Roseville Hyundai's Genesis inventory, expect sales and maintenance to open in a week. I find it hard to believe they could be performing maintenance anytime soon. They took my info and committed to excellent service and will have Genesis loaners. Great news SAC!

I would agree as to Infinity as Infinity sales are on a downward spiral but Genesis sales are on an upward spiral. In my market (Scottsdale Arizona) Infinity is almost entirely invisible; on the other hand, I see lots of Genesis cars, especially GV80s and GV70s. My dealer did choose to open its showroom in an upscale outdoor mall rather than a standalone building so it probably is saving some capital costs that way and it built its service building on the site of and alongside the Hyundai building, again probably saving some capital costs.

But current sales can't support the present dealership count and wouldn't even be able to fully support the original plan of having 100 standalone dealerships.

And as I have stated in other threads, the prospect for significant growth in the near-term is limited.

The GV80 coupe is a niche seller and the upcoming GV90 will be even more so.

Right now, the only new model that may be in the works is a production version of one of the X concepts, which also wouldn't add any significant volume.

And it looks like the G70 will be discontinued; and while sales have been disappointing, it still is the 3rd best seller in the lineup.

A bigger issue is not having a Genesis dealership in the North bay; have to go down to SJ or across the bay (part of the problem was that the 2 Hyundai dealerships that had been in the North bay had closed, being before the arrival of the Palisade which started printing $ for Hyundai dealerships, as well as the hybrid versions of the Tucson and SF).

First service visit to Genesis of Round Rock. Have to say I’m impressed with the facility. Tasteful, comfortable, well-appointed waiting area with h a large glass wall that overlooks the shop. Nicely done and it feels way more in line with a customer experience you would expect at a higher-end dealer. I’d post pictures but the server says images too big. Oh well.

Now if we could only get a stand alone dealer a little further North in DFW area that would be great. I’ve heard one was supposed to be coming here somewhere? The Genesis dealer in Irving just recently changed names but it’s still a just Hyundai dealer to my knowledge.

Glad to hear. I am considering purchasing a new Genesis from them.

May interest some. These are the states that, as of yet, have no stand alone dealerships

Alabama
Alaska
Colorado
Delaware
Hawaii
Idaho
Indiana
Iowa
Maine
Mass
Michigan
Minnesota
Mississippi
Montana
Nebraska
New Hampshire
New Mexico
North Dakota
South Dakota
Vermont
West Virginia
Wyoming

Anyone know if there are any being built in these states?

And yes, I'm bored.
Apparently La Fontaine is building one in Commerce Township, MI next year.

Take it with a grain of salt, but I was told the Genesis of Mesquite (Texas) will be complete and operational by June 2025 with it's own service center, no longer shared with Hyundai next door.

anyone in the louisville kentucky area aware of the time frame for east louisville genesis to build their stand alone store. I heard about 2 years ago it was going near the MB dealership. However, I have not seen anything.

Lexington I believe has a stand alone.

When you spend this money to purchase a car, and it’s a luxury vehicle, you would hope that the dealership would stand behind your purchase.
My car was recalled in the spring and it took five or six months before they could get to my car. When I finally was able to get my car to the dealership on the date, they gave me I picked it up and the car smelled like gasoline and cigarettes., they treated me like my car was a 20-year-old junker.
Today the electrical system did something weird so I went to a local mechanic and they couldn’t figure anything out so I called the only dealership that I could find. There’s a Hyundai dealership 20 minutes from my house, there’s a Hyundai dealership 15 minutes from my house and there’s a Hyundai Genesis dealership 15 minutes from my house.. the Hyundai Genesis dealership is the only place that will work on a car as new as mine yet you cannot get in and they will not return a phone call and when you actually get there, they treat you horribly.
I love this car. It’s fun to drive because of the problem I had once again today with the dealership and lack of them wanting to service a car that’s brand new., I may have to trade it in on a Mercedes. That’s a comparable vehicle and that dealership treats you like royalty.
Do any of you have this problem with your car?

Times are hard at Infiniti dealerships (now selling, on average, 24 vehicles a month) whereby there are dealerships losing well into the 6 figures, with some losing millions each year.

Due to those realities, parent company, Nissan, is now allowing Infiniti franchises to share facilities with their affiliated Nissan store on a case by case basis.

This is exactly why Genesis franchises have been slow to open standalone stores (simply wasn't enough supply/sales to support the 250+ dealer network, especially prior to the launches of the GV80 and GV70).

Even now, it's a tough case (aside from certain high volume franchises) and there really isn't anything on the horizon that will significantly increase sales.

That's why I've been saying Genesis another CUV, priced/slotted btwn the GV70 and GV80 (and a better/more affordable entry-level product than the GV60 which has flopped); the upcoming GV90 is priced too high (and is electric), so will remain a niche seller.

Genesis of Minneapolis is run by arguably one of the worst auto conglomerate groups, Luther. They were previously based in the city Bloomington, but recently opened in a city on the other side of Minneapolis. Granted not as challenging as some ppls experience here, but city traffic combined with moving completely to the opposite side of the cities makes it super frustrating. I made an appointment for a recall, soonest they could get me in was in 3 months (normal for their previous location too).
I called Genesis, their map was still indicating the dealership was at the old Bloomington location, so she didn't understand my question about getting service elsewhere, but where we landed at the end of the call was that some Hyundai dealerships may service my vehicle but they can't guarantee the warranty will be honored.
My question, has anyone had luck contacting former Genesis dealers to get work performed under warranty?

I asked the Hyundai dealer close where I live and asked them. They said what year is the Genesis, 2024 model, NO we don't service that model at all. You are very much stuck with the dealers in your vicinity. Fortunately in the Washington DC area we have 5, but they are a distant apart.

I have not heard of anyone getting their Genesis serviced at a non-Genesis dealer. In most cases when they asked the dealer would say no because Genesis will not pay for the service because they are not an authorized Genesis service center. I think one individual got work done because they were traveling and had issues. They got authorization from Genesis to repair their vehicle.
