  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I don't think the inside lock button works to lock the door when exiting. I do that when driving my wife's Outback, but the G70 door always seems to unlock when I close it after getting out...
Enjoy,

That actually sounds like a massive problem! Regardless of how you lock the car, it should definitely remain locked

I'll doublecheck the interior lock button function when I go out today.

I just went out and checked and the interior lock button does work, but only if you press it twice (the first push doesn't "take" on my car). Also, there is no confirmation "beep" or lamp flash after using the double interior button push, but the door stayed locked when tried w/o the fob in pocket. I suppose the car rejects the first push to avoid an accidental lock out?

Genesis solved the problem of locking your keys in the car by not allowing them to lock if the fob is inside. Over the years, thousands of people have pushed the button, closed the door, ans saw their keys inside. I used to carry a spare key in my wallet. I know I've personally helped a few people over the years who did that. Last one being my boss's wife. She used his car and locked it using the inside door button. He had the other fob in his pocket, but he was in Austria at the time. I had to jump through hoops to get a dealer 60 miles away to give the key code to a local locksmith.

My previous vehicle would allow the door to be locked using the inside button but the security system was not armed using this technique. I "THINK" the same is true with Genesis. I think I read that in the manual but not going out there just now.

I just confirmed that using my outside door handle button to lock my G70 had no ill affect on remote starts. Guess the connection services rep I talked to the other day was incorrect, or just going thru a script of what to do for successful remote starts since that was my reason for calling them. Now the next test will be if I don’t use the remote system for a period of time, 4 days is what they claimed, will the cell modem really go to sleep so you temporarily loose remote ability?

IIRC, it is not four days of not using the remote. I often go much longer. It is the car not started in the four days time that affects it. It has not worked for people when it was sitting in the airport parking lot for a week or so.

Does not say it won't but:

The Theft Alarm System automatically
sets 30 seconds after you lock
the doors and the trunk. For the system
to activate, you must lock the
doors and the trunk from outside the
vehicle with the smart key or by
pressing the button on the outside of
the door handles with the smart key
in your possession.
The hazard warning lights will blink
and the chime will sound once to indicate
the system is armed.

Probably my screw up with the Genesis rep. He did mention the airport scenario you mentioned. Probably conserving our battery at that point so the cell modem is turned off. Thanks for the clarification.

Guessing this is US app since Cdn App Store has no Intelligent Assistant.
Cdn version Genesis Connected Services app seems unchanged (version 1.14.0, “General bug fixes and improvements”).

It is a bit faster if you use the app. For starting now I use the widget and that is still a bit faster. That said, if the doors are not locked, this is a nice feature when I want to lock the doors for a start. Nice they are improving the app though, every little bit helps.

You know...I really like this app (CDN version) but it is frustratingly slow.

It's winter, I like a warm car. I pull out my phone, select the Genesis app, hit lock doors because I don't know if I locked them as the car is in the garage.. enter code... wait.....wait...wait....wait... Finally, I get the message the doors are locked. Hit start engine, enter code again, wait...wait...wait...wait.... Finally engine starts. Whole process takes a couple minutes and several interactions. Ugh.

...meanwhile my wife takes out her phone and starts her Chevy Cruze in LESS than 10 seconds.

That's just wrong, no matter how you look at it.

Genesis, this needs fixing. If Chevy can do it that quick with their low end car.. you need to up your game big time.

It seems that this is the direction of the industry. My MB has, what I take, a similar app. It's also slow to remotely start the vehicle. AND to make it worse, it won't allow a remote start if you don't have enough gas in the tank.. like at least 5 gallons I think! Maybe the app is a plus is that one can be further away from ones vehicle with these apps, but then ability to send/receive signal can be an issue. Oh well.

I've had cars with aftermarket remotes. Advantage is they would in one step lock the doors and start the car. Disadvantage was distance, especially in some buildings.

I've had BlueLink in 3 cars for about 7 years. Advantage is distance, ability to turn on defrost. Reliability has improved over the years. Using the widget on the phone saves a lot of time. The negatives though, if doors are not locked you need two steps with time in between. Yearly cost. If you live in a place with poor cell service you are SOL.

Having had both, I've been happy with both but I've also cursed at both at times.

Since I work from home...I do not use the remote start at all.

The only times I use it is when I get off a plane and I want the car hot/cold. Doors are already locked...so as I leave the plane (no checked bags) I start the car. If I have checked bags...I start the car while waiting for my luggage to come out.

I have done this probably about 20 times now...every time flawless. The only issue is my replacement LED lights go nuts since they blink for so long. Doesn't ruin them though.
