  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Domestic coupe:
Chevy Camaro
Dodge Challenger
Ford Mustang
Pontiac Solstice hardtop

Import coupe:
Mazda RX8
Nissan 370Z

Import 4WD sudan:
Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart/EVO
Subaru WRX/STI

Domestic Sudan:
Pontiac G8

These cars are direct competition to genesis coupe, please share your view with regard to which car in your experience pose the most threat to genesis coupe. Which car has the most aftermarket performance parts for tuner etc.

Convertable, luxury sport sedan and FWD cars are left out because they indirecty compete with the genesis coupe, it would also make this thread too comprehensive.

First off Anyone think the genesis coupe with establish a cult like following like Ford mustang or Chevy Camero.

Or do you think it will end up like Tiberon yesturdays news.

The 2.0T in the Coupe is shared with dodge calibre and Lancer evo correct?

Therefore its possible to tune it to 300 HP.
The question is which Aftermarket parts from the evo and calibre fit to produce the most HP.

I am interested in the 2.0T due to the fact the fueleconomy.gov rate this vehicle at 23 mpg average therefore it qualify for cash for clunkers.
Anyone else thinking about trading in their old beater for 3500 credit on a genesis coupe or a camero v6?

I had a Saturn Sky Redline. It was equipped with the same 2.0 turbo Ecotec engine as the Solstice GXP(and Chevy Colbolt SS).They are a ton of mods and tunes out there. The stock engine has 260hp and 260pft of torque. When I traded mine in for my Genesis 3.8 coupe,I was at 317hp and 292pft of torque. And trust me there are people that much more then that.I hope that was the type of info you where looking for.

This list of competitors is 90% off as far as competitive examples. To me a list of competitors would be 2+2 rwd coupes. So the only FEW real comp is the RX-8. The genesis has the rx8 beat hands down. The other main competitor would be v6 versions of the muscle cars but the genny beats them too hands down. Another is the 1 and 3 series but the genny isn't ready to tackle that yet. Then there's the car it tried to benchmark. The g37, Its close but no cigar. G37 wins but there is a value factor that makes them very close. The 370z... WOW. The 2 shouldn't even be mentioned together. Talk about a major ass spankin. @ .99g, 13.1sec quarter, 156mph top speed, 4.6sec 0-60. A porsche cayman S can only boast a more refined ride. Not better performance. And the genny doesn't come close to a cayman. So u gotta give the Z its respect.
If american cars weren't always skimping and cutting corners. The solstice could have beat the gen. But its sloppy suspension and artificial boost steering kill it. The solstice gets spanked by genny. In the real world tho. The solstice is only an extremely weak competior to the Z and mazda mx-5 miata. The pontiac G8, that's a competitor to the sedan not the coupe.

The AWD 4door tuners. I mean, that's a whole other sport and they will always out handle rwd due to much better grip which leads to better track time and better bad weather traction and handling. Them things can spank porsche on the track.
The future comps will be the toyota ft-86 & mazda rx7. It beats any of the 2+2 fwd coupes. I don't care if they say the civic has more torque or the eclipse has a better whatever? No fwd will be competitor and no fwd coupe is worthy. And yes that means altima coupe guys too, that have dillusions that somehow the altima coupe is better than a genny. When the altima gets power to the back or all wheels. Then I will consider it better.

In the end hyundai beats most of em as being a better value but some of them, mainly the 370z and V8 muscle is too much of a powerhouse to compare. But I will give genny one thing over the muscle cars. Better driving characteristics.
