  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Yay for becoming a supporting member. It's the least I can do for spending so much time and money on this car.

Yes, they used to trigger as you describe. Nowadays, however, they pop up without even going near the double-underlined text. After the ad window opens it stays open and moves around, obscuring the view of any message you are trying to read. Maybe there is another control setting that you are not aware of? Ad Choice can hardly be called advertising. It's just an annoyance.

That's definitely not supposed to happen. Is anyone else experiencing this where even without hovering over the double-underlined links - they open?

Thank you very much. I greatly appreciate the assistance.

To everyone promoting AdBlock - you do realize that if everybody used AdBlock this site would not exist. Right? If you want to use AdBlock, it would be REALLY NICE if you could just keep that to yourself instead of telling everyone they should use it instead of supporting the site and taking away from me what little I get from the ads. I'm sorry if this site isn't worth $3 per month to you...

What's one good piece of advice worth to you?

Having been around a number of conglomerate-owned forum structures over the last 15-20yrs, I appreciate both ends of the spectrum; owner and contributor. You'll still have people that contribute, and if Madison-Ross is all yours, that'll be spread out across multiple avenues with varying user bases.

Don't imply that people aren't unappreciative, then be unappreciative of people. Ask DSMTalk how that worked out when they sold out, while DSMTuners is still privately owned and active.

;)

Is Paypal the only option for the automatic subscription? I have a Paypal account, but I don't normally leave any money if it, or an active credit card attached. I usually use it for one-time purchases that can't take a Visa, like when I purchased the Rigid Collars from Canada.

I'm not unappreciative of people. People simply contributing by participating in discussions is wonderful. What I don't appreciate is people promoting ideas that negatively impact my ability to generate revenue for a service that costs me money every month.

I've been running forums since 1985 on a Commodore 64 so I'm very familiar with what you're saying about DSMTalk and DSMTuners.

PayPal can be used as a payment gateway for a regular credit card or debit card. You can go through the motions and opt to pay with a credit card rather than your PayPal balance if you wish. If you need help with that please let me know.

Thank you!

That's exactly what happens to me on my iPhone - makes the site unusable as ads keep popping up and blocking your view. Even if you "x" out the ad pops right back as soon as you scroll if there is any double-underlined text anywhere on the screen. Also, this is new behavior that only started recently - maybe last month or so?

The entire "mobile interface" changed so on the mobile end, yes, that's different. We'll be moving to better forum software in the not too distant future and the mobile experience will be much, much improved at that time - including the ad experience.

EXACTLY! It's not even advertising; it's just harassment. Bad site image. Hopefully, the described changes will happen soon before too many people get turned off by this problem. Nobody minds advertising, but this is a bridge too far.

It's strange that the underlined text links are opening without being scrolled over. That's definitely not supposed to happen on either mobile or desktop. Who else is having that happen to them? Ernie, what operating system and browser are you using?

It's happening to me too and I mostly use my iPad with Safari. You start scrolling down a thread and poof, it pops up on you and obscures whatever you were reading until you X out.

I'm guessing this is an iOS only issue. I'll contact the advertising company and see what's going on. In the meantime, I just made some changes. Please let me know if it had any positive affect on the issue.

Thank you...

It's still happening and it is quite persistent! You close it, it comes back. You close again and it keeps coming back.

Are the links blue or green?

Thank you. Okay. That should do it. I closed down some revenue and I hope you all appreciate it.

I'm on iPhone 6. Much appreciated if this has been fixed!

Get your revenue back as that did not fix it - I still see the same behavior on my iPhone.

Do me a favor. Log out of the site on your iPhone and then log back in. Tell me if you still see the links.

I see the trash pop ups too. iPad Air iOS and Safari. New login at 5:30pm est. Double green underline, no action anywhere near the underlined word. Scrolling pops them up again.
