  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis G70 Lexicon Sound System

So, on the DSP + power amp topic - in the new Crutchfield catalog that came in the mail today, page 24 highlights a woman doing exactly this to get great sound out of her new VW Atlas - she likes the HU and wants to keep it, but she'd like to change everything else so the article details choices and process.

Is there a way to get my radio to display the song titles when listening to FM radio?

So I recently hopped in my 2022 G70 Sport Advanced with the Lexicon system and I'm enjoying it, sounds clear and is leaps and bounds over compared to my 2020 base model G70 that I was previously in that had just the regular speaker system. However, I don't have the option to turn off the surround sound of the Audience, Stage, Reference. These are my settings.... any thoughts or suggestions would be fantastic. My only gripe is that I'm not getting that subwoofer hit like I was hoping for, maybe it's the way I have it set up?

Also, at what volume would you say would cause damage to the tweeters/components? I currently went as high as 34 and it felt solid.

What does it look like just on the main radio screen?
Also, the subs located under the seats won't provide too much bass, I believe they are crossed over pretty low. Overall, I think it's enough for me though as I don't need chest pounding bass like I did in the younger days. Now it's just about overall sound quality.

That’s what it looks like on main radio screen. Also, at what volume can you raise it to until it damages the tweeters/components? I set it as High as 34 for a few songs and it was SOLID.
I agree with you! I don’t need heart pumping bass like in my old youngin days lol, but I don’t mind it either. It seems when I raised it to the 30+ I got the punch I needed and that was at Bass set at “3”

Just realized after my latest update, it looks just like yours except you have the newer better looking screen lol. I think they removed the option to turn it off, I have mine set to reference.

And I agree with you, it's pretty solid at high volume. 👍

There were numerous discussions here a year and more ago and the under seat speakers are rarely activated due to low crossover. Only a few people said they had music that met the standard, IIRC.

I think at that SPL, you should be more worried about your hearing than the speakers, lololol.

Reference is the least setting with the least affect.

Correct, OP needs to search this thread and others about the subs, lots and lots of discussion. And then some more.

Of the 15 speakers in this Lexicon system, I've heard there are only 2 subwoofers under the front seats? So that makes 13 mids and tweets in other spots; some may be coaxial. Has anyone felt the need to add a good subwoofer in the trunk or elsewhere? My buddy has an Audi A5 Sportback with B&O and that sound system also gets good reviews, but he felt bass was lacking, so he added a sub in the back and was very happy with the result. Yeah, bass is a subjective thing, but I like a good kicker!
I plan on adding a subwoofer in the trunk, a single 12 with a custom box that doesn't lose a lot of space but also gives a good thump. It needs more deep in your chest bass. If you care about the bass as much as I do that's the one thing it's missing. The 8's under the seat are adequate but they don't thump.

Hi owners! I am a soon-to-be G70 owner. I'm wondering if somebody could comment in a bit more detail on the quality of the G70 Lexicon sound system? Every review seems to entirely gloss over this point. I have no experience with Lexicon (and little with Harman Kardon, its parent company).

I am a bit of an audiophile and I listen to a lot of music in the car, so I'd appreciate a nitpicky response. Any highlights / criticisms of the sound system?

I'm coming from a Mercedes C300 with a Burmeister sound system, which has been EXCELLENT. When I test drove the G70, I was not thrilled at first blush with the sound, but I think some of the setting were whacky and I didn't have time to fiddle or customize?

Thoughts? Grateful for any feedback!
The only single thing I have to say about the system in mine (2022 Launch Edition) is that the subwoofers are merely adequate and don't provide a thump that you get from a larger sub with a large box. That's it though.

Reset your system in the Sound settings and the subwoofers that are under the seat will work. It’s a glitch in the G70s where the subwoofers don’t work but once you reset it you’ll realize what you where missing out on.

How? I see no “Reset” In sound settings. I agree, no (or very little) low end.

You can reset it by the disconnecting the negative terminal on the battery for a few minutes….or the easier way by pushing the round tiny button to the left of the volume knob. You’ll need to use a thumb tack or small pick tool to get in there. Hold it down for a few seconds and the screen will reset. I had to do this a couple of times due to no sound issues.

Thanx but I’ve already tried that. No joy.

I just checked again and I think everything is working as intended. It’s very dependent on the quality of the source and the playback level, but sounds very good when fed optimum sources.

Coming from the excellent 2016 Golf R with their fender audio and their spare tire subwoofer, to the CX-5 Bose system with the spare tire subwoofer, I think I'm pretty satisfied with the sound of the spare tire sub. The dual sub's under the seat... doesn't even come close to those subs. I don't need heart pounding bass, but just something that you can feel a little bit more like my CX-5 or my Golf R would be nice. Golf R hits harder than the CX-5, but I don't crank up the bass, but I like something that's more than the G70's offering.

So I'm planning on getting some JBL Basspro 11" spare tire sub installed to give it a factory look! That should hopefully get me the extra ooomph I'm looking for!

BTW just got a 2022 G70 SP!

Well?

Was the factory audio sufficient or did you need an upgrade?

I'd grade it with an A for genres that stay high (classical, jazz, country),A- for rock, B for anything bass-heavy.
