  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis G70 Lexicon Sound System

Thanx but I’ve already tried that. No joy.
you need to go to your audio settings or System settings. Scroll all the way down until you see "factory reset" or something along those lines...it will reset your audio settings but you can just adjust it back. This made a pretty big difference in my car.

I'm curious if the Clari-Fi feature does what it says it should... seems like a good idea in theory.

I enjoy quality audio, though I've never customized a system in a car. Glad that the Lexicon system will be in the 2.0T Sport 6MT.

I know it isn't a high-end system per se, but I really liked the "Fender" (Panasonic) audio in newer VWs I've test-driven. The subwoofer really gave fullness to the sound.

My 2007 Volvo S60 T5 has the factory surround-sound upgrade, but no dedicated sub. The "surround" effect is cool, but not much bass.
My wife's 2019 GTI w the Fender impresses me every time I drive it.

96/24 or 192/24? I don’t believe so it will be down sampled to CD/Redbook quality. I haven’t found a mention of hires audio anywhere.
According to the manual for my 2022 no high resolution. It did say that you can connect a mp3 player ( funny ) via USB but maybe a Astell Kern kind of player might work. I plan to try it someday and will post back.

I’m about to pull the trigger on a Kicker Key 500.1 amplifier. It has a built in DSP, auto gain matching, “auto EQ”, high level input (up to 40V) and a bunch of other features. It was designed to be used with factory systems without the need for a line output converter or DSP. They also make a Key 200.4 for your component mids and highs. I plan on pairing this with a JL Audio W3v3 10” sub in their “High output” wedge box. I’ll report back here on how it sounds after it’s all put together.
I’m in the same boat as far as Clari-fi off and soundstage off. With anyone one of those advanced options turned on, everything gets messy and weird. Like Kusa said...you wanna like it and use those settings. But eventually you just realize it just sounds better with them off.
A 15 band EQ would be wonderful 😁
Kirk, is your plan to add that amp using the underseat speaker input than ad that sub in the trunk?

i have a 22 gv80 with the 21 speaker system & it sounds like junk i had the amp replaced under warranty & it didnt help . just yesterday i had the regional rep listen to it & compair it to a 2021 gv80 & the 21 model sounded great much more bass and better seperation. he said they changed the scale on the volume from 2021 to 2022. i have to turn our stereo up to 40 to listen to it & in the 21 model its loud at 15. not sure why all the bass is gone in the 22 model but they def changed something in the programing. he said for everyone to complain to genesis corp & they may write a update to fix

Hi owners! I am a soon-to-be G70 owner. I'm wondering if somebody could comment in a bit more detail on the quality of the G70 Lexicon sound system? Every review seems to entirely gloss over this point. I have no experience with Lexicon (and little with Harman Kardon, its parent company).

I am a bit of an audiophile and I listen to a lot of music in the car, so I'd appreciate a nitpicky response. Any highlights / criticisms of the sound system?

I'm coming from a Mercedes C300 with a Burmeister sound system, which has been EXCELLENT. When I test drove the G70, I was not thrilled at first blush with the sound, but I think some of the setting were whacky and I didn't have time to fiddle or customize?

Thoughts? Grateful for any feedback!
My 2022 G70 is a week old and I'm underwhelmed seems flat and lacking detail. Vanguard audio in Stoney Point NY do amazing work but it's not cheap on this car.

The Lexicon in this car really comes alive at vol 35+ it’s like night and day. Anything under that and I agree it’s a bit flat

I just swapped from a 2019 to a 2022 G70. Saved all my sound settings from the old one to apply to the new one since I was pretty happy with how I had it tuned and it's the same system. But there's a lot less bass in the new one, like the subs aren't even working. Searching around, I found the thread about some glitch causing the subs not to be active and resetting the system would fix it. Tried that today multiple times to no avail, both the tiny reset button by the volume knob and the factory reset of the whole system from the touchscreen. Any other ideas I can try before taking it to a dealer? The nearest one is like 120 miles...

we have the same complaint on our 22 gv80 we had a regional rep come listen to ours & compair it to other cars on the lot. he said it does have less bass than last years model & yes genesis made some changes to the volume scale but it is working as designed tough luck

I've noticed a big difference in bass level depending on the source material. The songs on the Sirius/XM hip-hop channels have more than enough bass, but classic rock on the radio is rather flat unless volume is 35+.

If you aren't happy with the bass, have you tried adjusting the EQ? Set bass at +7 or so?

I have a similar issue, though I don't have the lexicon system (2022 G70), the bass is alright for SXM but there's barely any bass if I use Spotify or my own music through USB. Really sucks that SXM has a higher quality than mp3 songs.

Yeah I noticed on my 2019 that the bass was a lot stronger on XM than other sources. For the first 2 years I had it, I mainly used USB with high quality files and had the bass at +5. The last year I had it, I had an XM subscription and noticed the stronger bass there. But the majority was definitely coming from the subs, since the doors weren't vibrating like crazy. If I up the bass to +7 or higher on my new 2022, you can tell it's coming from the doors since they're vibrating much more and those speakers are working much harder.

Some recent findings First I faded mostly to the front since I drive alone 90% of the time. And this surround mode in Reference has a dullness to it but a wider sound stage vs. the Audience which sounds more natural and brighter but the sound stage sounds to me like much too strong from the center speaker. My remedy was too add treble + 4 and bass +2 with a - 2 on the midrange while in Reference. All in all I find the surround settings to be have a very strong center and ill thought out, why would anyone ask to be on stage? Imo Lexicon missed the mark.

Yep. My post says no high resolution audio. My system sounds fine you just got to turn it up. XM radio has +10 dynamic compression engaged to make it automatically sound better/louder.

A lot of music on XM is live so that’s why. DMB Channel, Grateful Dead Channel and Phish Channel.

I have 2022 3.3 Sport - with Lexicon (15 speakers)..
1) can someone confirm there are subs under seats - I don’t seem to have any bass from there
2) if I do the “reset” people talk about do I have to re-enter the XM radio code
3) anyone with this model/yr put a sub in?

This has been discussed in the forum several places. One owner pulled his seat and speaker cover and discovered the speaker is face down into the chassis and frame for resonance, apparently. The crossover frequency is low which limits the sound output to fewer sources than other similar speakers. For deep booming bass additional adjustments or equipment are necessary. There are some here who are audio proficient and added amps and output to suit their taste.

Where did you find the reset in the 2022?

I have a 2022 launch edition. Had a local shop install an AudioControl amp and Audio Dynamics sub. Left the factory subs in the car too. Sounds great.

Has anyone installed a DSP in the lexicon system? I mainly use bluetooth but I feel the system is being limited prolly as to not blow out the speakers. I want to add a high quality 10 inch sub to the trunk as well.

It just kinda feels like the specs don't add up to real world performance.

Frankly, using Bluetooth and expecting anything beyond mediocre sound is pointless. If you’re going to go to the trouble of even attempting at upgrade, take two seconds when you get in the car and plug in your cable. That will be the biggest improvement you can get.
