  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis G70 Pricing

I never trust what the dealer says. I trust the written laws. Dealers fee in Florida ARE MANDATORY AND NON NEGOTIABLE. They drop the price but NEVER the dealer fee. They even have it pre printed on their papers.

Eliminating Dealer Service Fees

Here is a little more detail about Florida.
Virtually every dealer in Florida adds a dealer fee to the price he quotes you on the car. In fact, when questioned, many dealers’ justification is that “all dealers in Florida charge a dealer fee”. Strange as it may seem, Florida law prohibits a dealer from removing the dealer fee from the price he gives a customer. If he charges one person a dealer fee, he must charge all people. This is also the rationale you might hear if you object which, is “Florida law will not allow me to remove the fee”. The way to counter this objection, when haggling about the dealer fee, is to tell the salesman to reduce the overall price by the amount of the dealer fee and leave the dealer fee alone.

The only control placed on dealer fees by Florida law is for advertised prices. This law says that an advertised price must include the dealer fee. Dealers get around this by advertising just one vehicle at an advertised price with “many more at similar savings”. If the one car that is advertised is already sold, the dealer can sell you one just like it and add back the dealer fee.

It’s really quite a shame that manual transmission lovers get penalized on content. 3 series here I come

Not even individual dealers in the US. I would be that the high fees in Florida are attributable to the dealers lobby. They win, residents loose.
Pennsylvania limits dealer doc fee to $141. A "meddling bureaucracy" can be a good thing for consumers.

Believe what you want. Your dealer can and will you anything but DEALER FEES ARE NOT MANDITORY.

I live in Florid. I buy cars in Florida. I've been buying cars in Florida since 1995.

If you think it is manditory, ask. Who makes it manditory? Not the state! If you think it is manditory, come to my area of Central Florida and they will remove it.

FWIW, I live in Lake Cointy and I always tell people that "You can't buy a car in Lake County". (Well, you can, if you want to pay their price). I've never been able to buy a car in Lake County. Ive purchased in Daytona, Arcadia, Ocala, Winter Garden Winter Park, Orlando and my present two cars in Melbourne. Well under MSRP and NO "Bump Up Sticker-Dealer Fee". Sure, many have the Bump Up Sticker-Dealer Fee on the window, but I don't play it. Never in Lake County as they just won't deal.

Just look at your buy/ lease contracts. I bet you that you have a dealer fee printed on all of them (a big one between $599- $999) Its MANDATORY. If you got the price you haggle for your car I have no doubt of it but that price was the result of lowering the car price NOT the dealer fee. Just look at your contract and you will see. As explained before "Florida law prohibits a dealer from removing the dealer fee from the price he gives a customer. If he charges one person a dealer fee, he must charge all people"

What do you mean?
The manual Sport 2.0 is not equipped like the A/T Sport 2.0. Opting for the manual will delete way too many features. I don’t understand why they can’t keep the content the same on the MT sport as the AT Sport. They don’t do this at BMW or Audi (although Audi deleted the MT option all together this year)

Even Consumer Reports has a hard time negotiating them way.

Laws aside, you can get a pre-printed contract with anything printed on it, even a line for beer for the guys in the shop. Looks official that way and less likely to be questioned.

Florida seems confusing though

As CR says, you have to negotiate a lower price. The total is what counts.

I did not know that Kia was altering its infotainment systems starting with the 2019 Optima. So it looks like UVO Link and UVO Link with Navigation now offer smartphone remote start, locking/unlocking, etc. So that makes this even worse. Its available but again something that is left off the Stinger.

I would like to drive the G70 first. Check out the complaints in person (backseat fitment, etc.). But it is on my short list for sure.
Yep. I was thinking about test driving a 2019 Stinger and comparing it to the G70, but at this point I'm done with that car. They can't get themselves together to save their lives.

I can see wanting to drive it first. I think I'm pretty set on it. The drive would have to be awful for me not to get it.

Right there with ya.

Though, I'm open to my OCD being set off by something stupid, like that early shifting before redline bullshit on the Stinger. ...You put the redline on the guage cluster for a reason, let me hit it, even though it's arbitrary (ie fuel cut-off is what matters). And yes, I'm aware that some reviews have said it's there on the G70 as well. It all just depends on how it all feels while driving it.

I figure if I don't completely fall in love with the G70, I'm gonna spend a bit more time saving up and go for the Giula Quadrifolio. Maybe. Hah.

I really need to see the chart with the dots so I can figure out exactly what is in the M/T Sport trim. The article doesn't say it builds off of any of the other trims so if you read the article literally, the M/T Sport model has no passenger or rear seat and as far as driver seat is concerned, only has a seat cushion extension.

I mean is the manual sport really just the base trim with those few extra options tagged on? I guess that makes sense since it is only $3000 more than the base trim and less than every other trim.

How do you figure that?
G70 2.0T Sport 6MT comes standard with a 6-speed manual gearbox and even more performance-oriented equipment.

· Multi-plate type limited-slip differential
· Sport exhaust system
· Brembo braking system with
performance brake pads
· Manual parking brake
· 19-inch alloy wheels with Michelin PS4 summer tires (F P225/40R19, R P255/35R19)
· Aluminum door & console trim

· Full LED headlights
· Heated and ventilated front seats

Because I'm blind apparently. But my point still stands. Each of the other trims lists everything in it (in the case of advanced) or says it builds off another trim. The manual transmission trim doesn't say it builds off of any other trim so a literal reading can say anything not listed isn't included. Now this obviously isn't true so my assumption is (and I hate making assumptions), the manual transmission builds off the advanced trim, which disappoints me because I was hoping for a manual with a HUD.

The difference in content between the Sport 6MT and Sport AT:
AT gets Nappa leather with sport quilting (MT does not)
AT gets copper headlight treatment (MT does not)
AT gets dark tint taillight covers (MT does not)
AT gets dark chrome grille (MT does not)
AT gets heated rear sear seats (MT does not)
AT gets Qi wireless charging pad (MT does not)
AT gets Heads-up display (MT does not)
AT gets Dinamica microfiber headliner (MT does not)
AT gets low beam assist (MT does not)
AT gets surround view monitor (MT does not)
AT gets front and rear parking sensors (MT does not)
AT gets Genesis logo approach lights (MT does not)
AT gets integrated navigation system (MT does not)
AT gets rain-sensing windshield wipers (MT does not)
AT gets a sunroof (MT does not)
AT gets power folding, auto dimming exterior mirrors (MT does not)

This is all according to their press release. It's a difference of 7,000.00. They should not penalize manual transmission buyers with stripped down models. Because of all the deleted content I am no longer interested. It is interesting they reversed course on this. The Elantra Sport sedan and GT hatchback 6MT are available fully loaded. It's quite a shame Genesis has done this.

I can see your point, but I mean at least they offered a manual. Most manufacturers don't even do that nowadays right?

Sure, at least it's offered. But this is a "luxury brand" and they took all of the luxury away. BMW and Audi do not practice this. This isn't 1990. People these days don't buy a MT to save money.

I don't see that in this release
Genesis Newsroom
Makes me wonder if there are two models of MT. If you are looking for a high performance track car, you don't want all the fluff and weight. It you want it as an everyday driver, you want the goodies. Just as I see the occasional street sedan with NASCAR decals but never see competition.

If all they sell is a striped down model I would think it a poor decision.

I'd like to believe you are right, but where do you see in the release that it has all the goodies. As I mentioned before there is no line stating that the manual transmission is built off a different trim. They also refer to the manual as a separate trim instead of an option to an existing trim.

Like I said, I wish/hope the manual has all the same features as the automatic sport but at $7000 less and the way its written I'm doubtful.
