  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis G70 Reviews

Motor Trend...on the 2.0T...

JD Power noted that a lot of initial problems are infotainment related and the Koreans differentiate themselves by doing well in reducing those issues. That makes sense since Korea is really good with screens and "mobile" electronics with phones nowadays.

They also don't include the same amount of content in the infotainment system. They keep it simple compared to a bmw, audi or mb who have many more options in the menus and types of interfaces. More inclusions increase the chance of troubles to report.

On one hand, it's good to see Genesis/Kia/Hyundai at the top but when I see Ford, Lincoln, Chevy, Nissan, Dodge making up the next 5 spots and Lexus, Toyota, Honda, Acura lower down it really makes me wonder how legit this survey really is...

Acura/Honda are far from what they used to be. They don’t even hold their value anymore like they used to.

I owned 3 Lexus and had more trouble with each of them then I did with any Ford I owned--and one of my Ford's was a 64 Mustang (owned in the 90s).

I concur. My TL had so many little issues that were taken care off only cause I had the Acura Plus extended warranty.
Drive shaft, all 4 TPMS, both headlight housing, transmission filter, and etc. Apparently that engine also burned oil but luckily I wasn't affected!

There's a button on the left that says Auto. Uncheck that and zoom in to desired level!
My nav screen every so often keeps reverting back to 75ft. I have the auto button OFF and like to keep the zoom level at 300ft. What am I missing? Why is it doing this?

The 911 was the least problematic model overall, followed by the Rio and then the G70 (not bad for a new model).

The Germans generally get pretty good marks for the intuitiveness of their respective UI.

In contrast, Lexus' UI is among the worst and Toyota's is about as bad.

Genesis is developing its own distinct UI.

As stated above, Lexus and Toyota have among the worst UI (FCA is among the best, so can explain Dodge being ranked higher, as all their models are well into their life-cycles w/ problem areas having been sorted out).

Honda and Acura have been having issues w/ their latest powertrain components which is why their VDS rankings have also tumbled.

Like I said, the auto button is in the OFF or deselected mode. Why is it still changing back to 75ft every so often with the auto turned off?

No need to repeat yourself...and post in the correct thread.

Not repeating myself, was replying to someone that responded. Not sure why it didn't show up that way? And I did do a search on this and it came up in the review section thread. It was in fact a question you had asked because you were having the same issue... ☺

Thanks for this post. I'm glad to see the 2.0 get some love, since that's what I have 😎

While I'm here I'll mention two things:

1) Yeah, the infotainment has issues. Like the writers of this review, in my experience owning the car for two months now, occasionally (meaning 3 or 4 times over that time period) I've had to turn the audio system off and back on to get undistorted sound; not a big deal to me compared to the system in my previous car, a 2016 Mercedes GLC300, which sometimes didn't recognize my phone at all until stopped and restarted the following day) . It hiccups now and then; album art doesn't show if the following song is from the same album (ie, if I choose to play a song on my iPhone, the Genesis infotainment shows the cover art, but if the following song is from the same album and has the same cover art, then the cover art for *that* 2nd song will change to a generic musical note... that's weird. I'd love to hear from owners of earlier generations [G80 and G90] whether infotainment software gets updated when you go in for scheduled maintenance.)

My system also sounds good generally but still has a harsh treble/high end that is definitely a design flaw in the audio system. I have treble turned down to -10 and midrange set at -5 but these settings make very little difference. Something is funky with the sound system and I'm very curious to know if Mark Levinson Audio Inc. has actually sat in the car and listened to the system and has any thoughts about it.

2) On my last gas fill up I decided to try 89 octane fuel (the cheap stuff) versus 93 (since the manual says premium fuel is only "recommended", not "required") and my impression is... my car changes gears much more smoothly on the cheaper fuel. Hooray! Especially at the low speeds (5-30 mph) that one is usually driving in the big city traffic of Los Angeles, gear changes seem to be smoother and the engine seems to *lumber* much less in the all important 10-20 mph range. After two months I have about 950 miles on my car (yep, I don't drive that much). I also have the impression that on the cheaper fuel the car is slightly, and I emphasize slightly, less quick at the higher speeds you use when getting on the highway. But that issue is easily ameliorated by putting the car in sport mode. In sport mode (which I generally only use when getting on the highway in heavy traffic) my G70 has plenty of acceleration.

Aussie reviews starting to pop up.

Seems to be some grumbling about the pricing; closer to the Euros there than for here or Canada.

But what's likely going to be more of a hindrance to sales is the direct-from-manufacturers sales distribution network w/ only one showroom boutique in place (Sydney) and only 2 more planned.

Plus, a couple more from Yankees.

Brian is from BC I believe. I had a chat with him at the event.
