I confirmed that a year agoalso to add to this: they tested the G70 sport trim and got 4.4 0-60 so thats def confirmed
Didn’t you run your numbers using the JB4 app? I trust C&Ds VBOX moreI confirmed that a year ago![]()

gotcha, must have missed your post from last year about it. youre in the best place to get some of the ideal times out of the car too with your low elevation and whatnotDragy

...It's that SOFT launch again!!!
They have an insurance pricing reasons for the power numbers they report. Supposedly some European countries hike insurance rates based on how powerful the cars are.yeah, BMW must be continuing to under-rate their engines. an old trick of theirs, and MB. amazing inline-6 they have there along with the slushbox. can't argue that point. but for ~$16k more and harder to live with suspension tuning? tough call. or not.
the G70's 13s 1/4 mile time is plenty quick. that was corvette territory not too long ago...
Yeah, as a 63 year old who's been a car fanatic since day 1, I can't believe we have main stream sedans that are turning 12 and 13 second quarter miles!! That 340i is faster than ANY stock muscle car back in the day, and the G70 would also beat most of them. Then consider the increased safety, added features, better gas mileage and much, much lower emissions. Truly incredible what time and technology have done. Love it. (Although an old school V8 still sounds betterMan that 340i is quick! Wow.
But as everyone says, the G70 is the better value. Add $500 for a JB4 and you get the same performance.
Interesting if you look at the performance numbers, the rolling start and top gear 30-50 mph and 50-70 mph are much closer.

Completely circumstantial observation on my part with no "official" corroborating data to back it up, I've always felt that Genesis was trying to protect that 8-speed transmission by limiting initial torque.
Totally agree.Yeah, as a 63 year old who's been a car fanatic since day 1, I can't believe we have main stream sedans that are turning 12 and 13 second quarter miles!! I think that's a pretty good theory. Genesis seems to be one of the few automakers (I'm struggling to think of another) where AWD application in a performance vehicle didn't result in faster 0-60 times. BMW's x-drive and Audi's quattro certainly have better 0-60 times than their RWD/FWD counterparts. My guess is there's likely some sort of torque limit software strategy based off what the engine flywheel, torque converter output, and transmission output speed sensors are seeing. During launch you want engine RPM's to be high (to build boost) while you want the transmission outspeed speed to be 0 (so you're not prematurely sending torque out to wheels) so the torque converter is taking that load until the car starts moving forward (stall torque). Once that happens the appropriate clutches get energized propelling the car forward. I believe the ideal launch has the vehicle build enough torque at stall that you're almost overcoming the traction of the tires (too little and you bog at launch, too much and you spin the tires until you finally hook up)
So to your point I think one of two things is the limiting factor
1. The torque converter cannot handle stall torque past a certain value
2. The transmission does not have enough capacity in the first gear clutch to handle a hard launch
And at least one screwed up his trans doing itThe Stinger people are doing a brake snip mod to get the big launch. 60ft times of 1.5. same as a McLaren 720s !
