  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis G70 Reviews

The pre-FL G70 has slipped down to 3rd (2nd for ICE) behind the A4 in MT's rankings.

Let's see if the FL model can retake the #2 spot from Audi.

Still #2 in C/D's rankings behind the 3er.
I can see that A4/G70 battle continuing. Hell, I had the same dilemma when I bought mine. Since I had an Audi, the fact that I wanted something different pushed me over the line. And FWIW, I have NO regrets. At times I do wonder what kind of deal I would have been able to get on an A4, if any. But I'm pretty sure I'm in for thousands less. Not saying that's not a factor, but for me, price wasn't a huge criteria.

However, although I enjoy Motor Trend, I can't accept that Tesla being the top ride. It was easy for me to scratch them from my list. Just not a fan of the the interior... and I LOVE gadgets!

I test drove a Model 3 this past weekend. Impressive and smooth power. Amazing autopilot. I did not like looking to the side to check my speed. Really don't care for the spartan interior style and not crazy about the front end styling. It is not yet something I woud buy. Still think we have another 5 years of battery development, charger station installation and product development until it will interest me. At this point, the Tesla is still a lot of virtue signaling versus being a smart buy.

Yeah, I don't like the spartan interior at all, with every control on one giant screen. It seems like it would be very distracting.
And the Daffy Duck beak for a nose..... 😝😝😝

Those of you who are interested in large SUVs should look into the Rivian R1S (it's an EV). It's going to be pretty amazing, should be available by mid to late summer. I think they are also going to come out with a smaller in another year or two.

I wish I could give this post 100 thumbs-ups.

Haha. It's such a shame, because I think the model 3 looks pretty good from the side and rear, but that nose is hideous. It looks so unfinished. It's like the designers stopped working and walked out before it was done, and they just went with it.
I get that they don't need a grille for cooling, but it needs something.

It reminds me of a Dodge Neon.

I would imagine it'll cost a far bit?

Thanks for the video, I hadn't seen that. Wow, I think they made great improvements. The nose of the car looks so much better. I'm a little surprised he didn't discuss the cosmetic changes. Or the cost of the mods, haha.

Australian Drive Review. I found it very milquetoast and annoyingly contradictive. At one point one of the reviewers criticizes the presence of buttons in one of the vehicles (doesn't even matter which one), while in his same segment he (correctly) criticizes the touchscreen in the A5 as distracting and requiring too much effort when driving (they do). Overall, I'd rate this review a 3 out of 10, and that's only because it has a decent production quality.

(Edit)
One notable point is they distinctly mention no brake fade with the G70, and relatedly, no mention of brake pad issues. It's probably safe to say that the Austrailian car doesn't have the same brake pads that the US model uses.

Audi A5 vs BMW 3 vs G70

Yes, unfortunately I think Genesis feels that US drivers care more about dust than brake performance. Sadly, in many cases they're probably right.

I don't worry about dust so much; too much squeal on the other hand (something not uncommon on high-performance brakes, especially when cold) would not be pleasant to my being.

I agree, brake squeal is bad and I wouldn't want to live with it. But I've owned about a dozen "sporty" cars with semi metallic brake pads and have never had a problem with squealing.

that review did a poor job comparing as-tested pricing for each car. giving the MSRP ranges is only a start. as we know, the germans have infinite package add-ons. good luck finding a base unit on any lot.

not saying the M340i isn't the best overall car in that test, price not being an issue, but not clearly stating how each as-tested car stacked up price-wise is not giving a clear picture of the comparo. nevermind any of the other objective test data - of which this review offered next to none.
