  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis GV70 Reviews

I’ve just ordered a GV70 Sport for my wife, due to arrive July 11. I’ll put a little review up after that if the embargo hasn’t lifted by then. I used to review professionally (Porsches mostly) and I think it’s an interesting option vs the competition. Great interior and spec but we’ll see if it can live with the Germans dynamically (my benchmark is the Cayenne GTS, a very high bar I doubt it will clear but perhaps approach). I’m not expecting it to be “fun” from my own perspective (last three fun cars- BMW 1M, Porsche GT4 GT3 Touring for reference) but the Cayenne GTS comes close on some roads, so we’ll see…
Why would you compare it to the Cayenne? Should be the Macan.

Even the Macan is sportier than the GV70, I’m expecting the BMW X3 M40i to be more direct competition. I just benchmark off the Cayenne GTS because it’s my favorite to drive (better than the Cayenne Turbo/ Turbo S IMHO, especially when sliding around).

I see that Motormouth_auto (Canada) posted on Instagram that they are expecting to receive the car today from Genesis At Home Service and will have it for 2 days to review and release review on July 5th (when embargo is lifted for reviews).

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Bummer that they will be first as all there reviews are Canadian spec and not that applicable here.
Oh well.. It's start. What's his name from Red Line must be having a cow by now ... On second thought what does he care. He's getting rich just driving new cars everyday. What a great gig.

So there's no 40/20/40 rear slipt folding seats. Quite disappointing when the Mazda CX-5 offer it...
Geez the shit people care about. I'm not saying there aren't people who need it, but if that's a key thing for a customer then a lot of the other stuff clearly doesn't matter.

Cayenne GTS is awesome, but its twice the price comparably specced, my gv70 3.5 in sport+ mode is plenty fun, limiting factor being the tires IMO, can get a lot of tires for the price difference though.
Cross shopped the usual suspects: Macan, GLC 43 and SQ5, ignored BMW
Of the 3, only Macan has comparable quality interior to my taste.

Macan is a great driving car, but the interior doesn’t come close to that of the GV70.

Completely agree, was specifically saying quality (such as nappa leather and build), the rest is preference and I do really prefer gv70

Hi Guys, apologies if I have missed this as I am trying to read a lot. There is no 0-60 times yet for the 2.5T version, right?

Went on line to the local Porsche dealer to see what Macan's were selling for. They had a couple for 75k that were lightly optioned. 150 watt stereo with10 speakers? That's it? . I don't even think it had heated seats let alone vented seats. I'd say it had about half the options as a fully loaded GV70. I've had a couple 911's. Great cars but in this case the GV70 is a far better value.

Can be a bit odd that diff regions/markets end up choosing widely different equipment.

The G70 Shooting Brake (Europe/Australia) gets a 40/20/40, but no 3.3TT.

In terms of subscribers/views Redline has nothing on Throttle House and The Straight Pipes and those 2 are well behind Doug (can't understand that at all as he's annoying as heck).

Korean Car Review site... test done with proper gps timing gear.
Imagine the official Genesis number would be lower when all variables are taken out, just doesn’t make sense otherwise, especially since the 3.5T GV70 is faster than the GV80.

Cross shopped (new):
  • Mazda CX-5 Turbo: Doesn’t have the solid feel or autobahn bred highway competance of the Germans, but Mazda’s chassis dynamics go toe to toe with anyone in my book. Lower rent but a deal.
  • BMW X3 xdrive30i: Decent chassis, somewhat lower rent interior, limited by the boosted 4 cylinder.
  • BMW X3 xdrive M40i: As above with a better engine.
  • Audi SQ5: Limited by Audi chassis tuning (for a driving fun perspective), less practical trunk, getting a little long of tooth.
  • Porsche Macan S/ GTS: best driving dynamics, nickel and dimed on options (which I’m ok with because I like strippers but my wife’s not), too small trunk ruled it out. Questionable value if you care about the options, decent value if you don’t.
Lots of other options, especially used. Personally I think anything automatic is spawn of the devil and I’d take a quick wagon over an SUV 9 times out of 10… But this is my wife’s car, and I’m happy where we ended up (so far).

Savageese is by far the best with a lot of tech and audio breakdowns. Alex on Auto's follows. Can't stand the Throttle house duo and the Straight Pipe guys need to get a room.

Like SG but he can get a bit snarky at times.

AoA is the Consumer Reports of the YTers and I'm not saying that as a bad thing.

Like the Throttle House duo because they give in depth insight with regards to handling/driving dynamics and how said vehicle compares to others in its class.

Motoman and Everyday Driver are also good in that regard.

SG has been letting his Honda/Acura bias creep out more recently. Probably why he was invited to the new Civic press debut.
