  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis GV70 Reviews

Really hoping we see the review embargo lifted tomorrow morning.

Imagine the reviews will be highly positive on par with the GV80. Greatly enjoying the 3.5T, feel like it’s a direct competitior to the Germans with drive and build quality that shattered my expectations.

SG has been letting his Honda/Acura bias creep out more recently. Probably why he was invited to the new Civic press debut.

He never seems to mention the weight at the front of Honda's/Acura's.

AoA is not as enthusiast-driven a reviewer, but he mentions how the FWD/transverse set-up feels different.

All Canadian, unfortunately. Still waiting for the U.S. embargoes to be lifted.

Yep.The Canadian reviews just don't really apply here.

Alex loves the Honda/Acura SH-AWD set up. I had a Honda Ridgeline with that and it is a very good set up with rear torque vectoring that you can feel in the corners but it is still a front drive set up with a transverse engine. Not the same.

Why don’t the Canadian reviews apply? It’s the same car, just slight variations on the trim levels. Majority of the major YouTube car reviewers are Canadian anyway.

Someone explain to me why these reviews are important to you guys. You already know everything you care to know about the car.

The only thing I can come up with, honestly, is you all just want external confirmation of what discerning car buyers you are. But that is pretty easy to come by from folks who fluff new car introductions for a living.

What's even funnier some of them already bought the car and now waiting on reviews. I thought you were supposed to read the reviews first, then purchase or decide to buy the car.

Interesting perspective.

The difference between a great review and ok one impacts what others think when they see you in the car. They can have a huge impact on depreciation and hence cost to own (as we see in the Telluride’s case), and depreciation is a Genesis Achilles heal. I also don’t personally know everything I want to know about the car, particularly how the final US spec version drives. The comments of the ability of the e-diff to step the rear, etc… And I still have questions: how does the car perform over the limit without the e-diff? How do the 19s impact body roll and turn-in?

I guess that kind of thing isn’t interesting to some, particularly after they’re committed?

I personally really enjoy video car reviews and the cinematography of some channels and seeing the utility people get (or don’t get) from certain features. It was fairly predictable the reviews would be quite positive given the glowing GV80 reviews and that the GV70 uses the same engines but has a little less weight. Also worth noting that there have been Korean reviews and driving impressions out for a while, so it shouldn’t be a total blind buy for anyone in the US if they did basic research.

Trim names and levels are completely different as well as pricing. The husband and wife tag team are burying it because according to them it is "far more expensive than the Germans". That is not the case in America. I don't find the Canadian You Tubers as informative as the top American reviews like SG and Alex on Auto's. They screw around too much and are trying to be funny which they are not.

The Canadian reviews still give a pretty good impression of the ride/handling balance as any difference (if any) with the USDM would be minimal.

According to TH, better steering than the Germans, good/compliant ride, a little more fun than the S5, but not as fun as the X3 M40i.

So, as the early buyers have stated, more like a mini-GV80 than a CUV version of the G70.

Here's another one.

A8 really likes the seats.

Yes he does, esp. the latest iteration, but all those things are still band aids for being FWD based and having more weight fore of the front axle.

He still notes the difference in feel with a RWD set-up.

The camera work for this review is incredible. Shows off the blue interior well.

Why would the Canadian embargo be lifted before the US? Again 36 million as opposed to 360 million. Weird.

US holiday maybe? Kinda like Cyber Monday they might want people to be arriving at their computers and checking feeds when the news drops rather than out playing and then having the stories buried at the bottom of the page.

Except it's not Leather all around.
"Leatherette Upper Instrument and Door Panels" on higher trims, 2.5t Prestige & 3.5t Advanced and Prestige

I feel like specific review timing is not that important for manufacturers since most people do research when they're ready to purchase, which will be months or years from now for most people. It also seems like Canada started getting GV70s before the U.S., so imagine American reviews are not too far behind. Possible they could also want the 2.5T to be reviewed since it will be the engine most people go with.
