If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Genesis GV70 Reviews

Del Rosso was there for the test drive at a track back in June when I got mine. I think it was a Car and Driver or Motortrend video. "Personal reasons" in executive nomenclature is that he got his walking papers. Ask me how I know LOLOL..

Whatever the reason the press roll out of this important vehicle was HORRIBLE...

And now because of the China/chip/supply chain mess there are very few being sold. Total mess. At least I got to see my Saville Silver on display at the Genesis PGA event last week ! Now good luck finding one..

Del Rosso took personal leave on July 1, the first full month the GV70 went on sale in the U.S. So no, he wasn't the one responsible for the launch or rather the lack of a launch.

In fact it wasn't announced that he had permanently left the company until 3 months after he had taken his personal leave.

He took "personal leave" because the car launch had already been botched. I got mine on June 11th and the dealership was surprised they got five of them on a truck June 8th. There should have already been on-line reviews and some marketing hype. You must be a relative to defend him because he was responsible for the lead up to this all important vehicle launch. "Personal leave" at that level is commonly the disguised statement for "your fired". Whether it was him directly or someone below him the launch was weak. His departure at that time is highly suspect.

"Alex on auto's" who is one of the top 10 on-line reviewers did not have a car to review until November 1st a full 5 months after mine was in my garage. That's a big miss.

LOL. Pointing out a serious flaw in your logic does not constitute "defending" him. I care about facts, not baseless conspiracy theories centered around a made-up scapegoat.

The matter of fact is that Del Rosso left before the GV70 hit U.S. retail. So to say "Del Rosso was fired for a botched launch of the GV70" when he took leave before the car was even launched makes zero sense.

It's quite hilarious how you're trying to convince me that the GV70 had a poor launch when I'm the one who brought up that very fact. Pay attention, please.

Either way the launch was still-born, he lost his prime gig , and the halo SUV got short changed from a marketing standpoint..

Here’s another review for the 2.5 GV70:

It‘s a good review actually. Interestingly, the reviewer didn’t miss the larger brakes from the 3.5, but he did lament the missing adaptive suspension.

Well that’s not what I thought it was. Sorry…

Losing my love for Genesis hurts. This whole HDA downgrade from HDA II thing has me so disappointed with only days until delivery of my GV70 3.5 Sport Plus. And I learn I have to sign a waiver upon delivery acknowledging I know the safety features the GV70 no longer has. A big let down after all the assurances of customer excellence with Genesis. I can only imagine the back lash as more customers learn they are not getting the full spec car they were expecting. Just sad. 😥

So you’re gonna pass on the coolest, most beautiful, lovingly engineered and designed stop light rocket just ‘cause it won’t steer for you? What about that amazing drivers seat or the kick ass sound system? Sounds silly to me. Highly recommend the GV70, even without HDA2.

It is very hard. The problem is they are distracting people with the lane change thing from the real issue which is the loss of some safety features. Remember the video with the kid crossing in the sidewalk and the GV70 brakes when the driver started forward? It was a promo video for Genesis early on. Well that safety feature is gone. As they are still selling cars with this HDA II chip elsewhere, it appears to be more of a cost saving move here. Having to sign a waiver when picking up the downgraded GV70 concerns me too. I guess if an accident happens where one of those safety features could have helped worries them. It worries me for future resale value too. And if they cut costs there, is there anything else they may have done quality wise to save costs? I have heard the build of this vehicle was amazing and the attention to detail was like no other. This was from someone in the industry that looked inside the door panel and saw how well the put it all together. Aside from all that I’m just gutted. Literally feel sick to my stomach. I have been a brand ambassador even for Genesis even before I received my car as I talked it up and shared my excitement of its arrivals with others. I have educated many on what this car has. But now, days before it arrives they hit me with notice I am receiving a downgraded vehicle. Not what I expected from a new brand trying to win customers with their supposed pillar of excellence in customer service. So sad right now. But I am happy for you that you got what I wanted.

Yeah, I am with you. I have so much of this tech on my 2017 F150 Limited, and all of it is turned off except for adaptive cruise, which I use occasionally. I finally got around to test driving a 2.5T Prestige yesterday, and loved it! While I normally would go for the top line, I really don't need that extra power...will rarely use it, and the 2.5T has plenty for me. And, while a small difference, I appreciate the better gas mileage, especially as prices go through the roof. The loss of HDAII...I really could not care any less. It would be turned off in my GV70 anyway. All this tech stuff is making people forget how to drive.

I wish it was only the convenience features. The loss of safety features with FCA Advanced is the tougher pill to swallow. Anyone who has yet to receive their car will have this downgrade apparently. Here is the difference with the downgrade as handed out at a dealership (attached). As they are still selling cars elsewhere with this as a paid option, it makes this look like more of a cost cutting measure as opposed to chips not being available. The email that affected customers receive adds salt in the wound and probably makes it worse. Especially when one has believed in the customer service excellence that Genesis has promised.

Well, it sounds like your minds made up. No GV70 for you. What’re you going to purchase instead?

Well my mind isn’t made up yet. I guess there is part of me hoping when the car gets here it will have slipped through without the downgrade and the email I received was a mistake. Highly unlikely from what I have learned. I am sending Genesis Customer Service an email as a follow up to my call earlier this week. I can probably live without the convenience features for sure - not a big deal. The safety features suck more and I worry about this waiver they make you sign acknowledging that you know the safety features are not in your vehicle. Will this make the value of my vehicle less than others in years to come? Not sure. Used vehicles usually come as they are and even if it had the feature… it might not even work for all you know. For me it is just the feeling I was left with after receiving the unapologetic email from Genesis. For 6 months I have spent pretty well everyday watching every YouTube video and reading every online review I could find on the GV70. I probably know the car as well as someone who has already been driving it every day. My excitement and anticipation only kept building. I think I may have even sold the Genesis brand to some other friends over this time. When the news of this downgrade first hit, I asked my dealer and they said my car was not impacted. A week later when it turned out it was… well it really hurt. And maybe more so because of the email and how it felt like a let down on the Customer Experience that Genesis promised. Having come over from BMW, this was one of the key things for me. And the GV70 itself was just so damn awesome. Heck, I even was given a test drive where they let me keep the car overnight. I went all in and chose the top level trim. The email just hurt man. It still hurts. It’s the thought that I somehow have a lesser car. And how the email was positioned as only a “lane change” loss when it was actually more. It just felt like smoke and mirrors from a company that I really believed was going to teach the other manufacturers how they should treat their customers. I haven’t said no to the car. Heck I’ve waited this long. But I really hope something happens or is said to re-establish the feelings and faith in Genesis that I had before that email.

I also wanted to mention I have kept all my communication respectful and I haven’t been angry at any time either on a call to Genesis or with my dealer. The only emotion they could say I displayed was sadness. Even the Genesis Customer Service centre guy totally agreed with me and I will say he was first class. Corporate needs to step up fast. I hope they do and the brand thrives in this market. I just hope they don’t lose sight of what has set them apart.

Maybe an obvious question but did you search the Genesis inventory for one that is on a dealers lot with this feature?

On the bright side, you can very likely sell it for more than you purchased it for after a week of driving to see if you really do like it or not.

Genesis is not the only manufacturer that is forced to eliminate certain features die to the chip shortage. I poke around on the BMW forum and guys are getting several items deleted from passenger lumbar to touch screen. It's just part of our messed up world..
