Maybe an obvious question but did you search the Genesis inventory for one that is on a dealers lot with this feature?

Well my mind isn’t made up yet. I guess there is part of me hoping when the car gets here it will have slipped through without the downgrade and the email I received was a mistake. Highly unlikely from what I have learned. I am sending Genesis Customer Service an email as a follow up to my call earlier this week. I can probably live without the convenience features for sure - not a big deal. The safety features suck more and I worry about this waiver they make you sign acknowledging that you know the safety features are not in your vehicle. Will this make the value of my vehicle less than others in years to come? Not sure. Used vehicles usually come as they are and even if it had the feature… it might not even work for all you know. For me it is just the feeling I was left with after receiving the unapologetic email from Genesis. For 6 months I have spent pretty well everyday watching every YouTube video and reading every online review I could find on the GV70. I probably know the car as well as someone who has already been driving it every day. My excitement and anticipation only kept building. I think I may have even sold the Genesis brand to some other friends over this time. When the news of this downgrade first hit, I asked my dealer and they said my car was not impacted. A week later when it turned out it was… well it really hurt. And maybe more so because of the email and how it felt like a let down on the Customer Experience that Genesis promised. Having come over from BMW, this was one of the key things for me. And the GV70 itself was just so damn awesome. Heck, I even was given a test drive where they let me keep the car overnight. I went all in and chose the top level trim. The email just hurt man. It still hurts. It’s the thought that I somehow have a lesser car. And how the email was positioned as only a “lane change” loss when it was actually more. It just felt like smoke and mirrors from a company that I really believed was going to teach the other manufacturers how they should treat their customers. I haven’t said no to the car. Heck I’ve waited this long. But I really hope something happens or is said to re-establish the feelings and faith in Genesis that I had before that email.

I have two things to say. Firstly, your description of watching every video and reading about the car was what I had been doing since the launch video came out. My dealer said mine was their first deposit taken for a GV70, so I totally understand your excitement and anticipation. In fact, I could’ve purchased a silver 3.5 Advanced with blue interior one month prior to my first choice red/red Advanced, but my Amazing wife asked how I’d feel every time I saw a red GV70 drive by? Smart, so I waited (Who would've guessed that as of today I still have only seen one other GV70, EVER, out in the wild!).

Thing two would be just a recommendation on your writing, and that would be to utilize paragraphs. It’s just WAY easier to read.

Nothing local unfortunately. I believe the dealer also took a look across country for me. Apparently they are having to field quite a few calls from customers with orders right now on the downgrade notice.

There is a white GV80 on the lot right now that a customer refused because of the missing features. Apparently she left a deposit for a future year model in hopes all the features will be there. There is no guarantee and the price could go up too.

On the bright side, you can very likely sell it for more than you purchased it for after a week of driving to see if you really do like it or not.

LOL that’s what I was thinking too. I’m guessing after taking the car it would be unlikely that I would want to sell it. But it would be an option for sure.

A couple days ago at the dealership I sat in a GV70 on the lot and it felt like I was coming home. I guess it goes to show what months of watching every new GV70 YouTube video will do to you.

I would be most concerned about losing:

• Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist enhancements:
  • Junction Crossing: Applies the brakes if a collision is likely to occur between you and a vehicle crossing your forward path.
  • Lane-Change Oncoming and Side: Can steer the vehicle back into its lane when drifting over a lane into oncoming traffic, or when changing into a lane with a vehicle ahead that is moving too slowly.
  • Evasive Steering Assist: Reduces the amount of steering input required to avoid a collision with an object ahead of you.

Maybe snag a used one that pops up in the future?

It is one of the options I have thought about, but I really wanted that new car feel and smell with this one.

Well, I got the call and my GV70 is now at the port here in Vancouver. The six month wait is nearly over. I guess there are quite a few GV70s on this ship so I would imagine there will be a number of others getting calls very soon.

Ask your salesman for the window sticker, it will indicate if HDA2 is installed. My salesman emailed me my window sticker when it reached the port and mine still has HDA2. Picking it up next week.

I'm sure HDA2 is on my GV70 and it saved my butt. I was backing out of a parking spot and it stopped me from hitting a car that was suddenly behind me. It took over and stopped me. Whew!

FYI: All GV70's including the 2.5T Select have Rear cross traffic Collision Avoidance Assist.

Apparently this uses the same motor setup as the GV60 Sport Performance, so it makes 430 HP in normal mode and 480HP in boost mode. Goes from 0-100km in 4.2 seconds according to Genesis, which is probably a conservative estimate like the other Hyundai/Kia EV's (Ioniq 5 and EV6 are both manufacturer claimed 0-60 in 5.1 seconds but instrumented tests from C&D and Motor Trend put them at 4.4-4.5 seconds).

Some reviewers pointed out that it would have greatly benefited from the E-LSD from the GV60 (though it does have torque vectoring by brakes). And I hope Genesis offers better performance tires here in the States because those 20-inch Michelin All-Seasons do not look like they are designed to handle this much power.

Korean pricetag is around 20% higher than the most expensive GV70 trim there, so expect it to be in-line here with other high-performance sub-4 second compacts like X3M or GLC63, and more than the GV60 Sport Performance.
