  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis GV70 Reviews

I'm eagerly awaiting the launch of the electric GV70 here in the states. I'm ready to make the switch to electric but have gotten spoiled by the quiet cabin and supple ride of the GV70. I'm gonna go take a look at the EV6 but I doubt it will compare in luxury to the GV70.

Since the GV70 is an ICE vehicle, the E-GV70 will be at a disadvantage to the EV6, mainly in weight, weight distribution and aerodynamics. The EV6 is built on the dedicated electric E-GMP platform, netting you in the real world less range anxiety then if you were in the E-GV70.

That is good to know. I do a lot of driving (70-100 miles a day) with the AC on and often above 75mph so having a good range will definitely be important.

The lack of range is mainly why I did not pull the trigger on EV6 and instead decided to go ICE with the GV70 for 3-4 more yrs.

Many are reporting real world range of EV6 up to 40% less that the WLPT 328 mile projected range. Of course many factors affect range but still nowhere near my needs.

Hoping range improves significantly over next 3 yrs, and at that point, I will switch, perhaps to GV70e. By then expect a plethora of EV options being available.

I am currently swapping from a Model 3 to a GV70 for similar reasons. Real world range and charging infrastructure (especially in my area/climate) is just too poor to use as a sole vehicle. One day I will go back to EV, perhaps a GV70e :).

Nice review of GV70 3.5 Sport from New South Wales Australia with a bent on family needs:

There's something really weird with the panel tolerance on the hood. In the Motorgraph video it's much more apparent; the tiny edge that goes on the side of the grill is blatantly overlapping the front bumper. And in most if not all pictures/videos of the GV70 so far, it looks like there's a gap between the top headlight and the hood. Maybe it's by design, but it bothers me every time since none of the other Genesis vehicles have the gap.
Funny I thought the same thing when I took delivery of my GV70 a couple of days ago..It is almost like an overlay to the fender edge... and of course, the front overlap is kinda weird as well. Kinda like clamshell..It will grow on me because I am so impressed with the SUV. Enjoy yours!

My 2017 F150 has the same "overbite" of the hood over the trim next to the headlight, by a good 1/4". Really only noticeable if you look at it from the side. Never really bothered me, so doubt I will have an issue with it when I get my GV70.

Trying to adult...

These guys are up there with Throttle House when it comes to handling/driving dynamics impressions.
They gushed on so much in obvious admiration that they actually forgot to mention the adaptive suspension and the brakes! Lol

Good review and nice find YEH!

Holy crap! Genesis should be paying these guys!!! Great review. Caught the comment about the doors wrapping at the bottom. Love this design. Had this same design on my 2013 Santa Fe XL and what a difference it made on keeping my dress pants and overcoat clean in the winter while getting in and out of the vehicle. I also found it easier to get in and out because the width of the rocker is reduced. Darnit though, this is the exact configuration I ordered...Red, blue interior, except 2.5T Sport Prestige... and it makes me realize that I have another 4.5 months to wait....ugh!

Agree with their dismissive about the Sport package being a marketing tool/appearance package.

Genesis really needs to do a true Sport (maybe using a different moniker) with the supercharged version of the 3.5TT and suspension/steering/brake upgrades.

We did the same thing. Sold our Model 3 to a neighbor and bought a GV70 for the missus. Two weeks later, I sold my Dodge Ram and bought a GV80. We love them both! Have had a Cybertruck under reservation from day one, probably keep the GV80 until they start being delivered in late '23.

The Sport package is just the same as Lexus F-Sport or BMW M-Sport, which all tend to be nothing more than an appearance package with maybe some suspension tweaks. Genesis has no equivalent to M or AMG and I don't know if they even remotely care for it.

Actually that was a miss on their part. The 3.5 is referred as Sport. In summation, we have the base model which is the Sport, the mid range is the Sport Advanced, and the top trim with the sometimes problematic E-diff is the Sport Prestige.

Nice runners up review from Wheels Down Under on their COTY and the GV70, and they point out in print that it’s not based on the G70!:

Yeah, I realize that, but disagree with them doing that.

BMW and the others can get away with that by having true M, AMG, etc. variants, but even those come in different power outputs.

Sport is the highest level (right now) for Genesis when it comes to performance/handling, so at the very least, should have some suspension upgrades.

Look at what Hyundai is doing with the N-Line; at the very least gets suspension upgrades if not both in the case with the Sonata N-Line.

Pretty confident that the supercharged MHEV 3.5TT will find its way into other Genesis models and while Genesis may come up with a new moniker, that should have been the Sport variant (at least for the G90, GV80 and G80); for something smaller like the GV70, will probably need something hotter than Sport.

Unfortunately, that's just the reality of Genesis being a brand that primarily caters to South Korean tastes. The Koreans don't care at all for power, and the fact that we get the SWB version of the G90 with the supercharged V6 before they do says it all. Even the "performance" GV60 has less power than the EV6 GT and Ioniq 5 N.

As Genesis expands globally and transitions to EV's, there will be more incentive to make high performance versions. Right now, that supercharged V6 is effectively the last ICE we'll see in a Genesis.
