If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello All,

My first post on this forum. I just bought my Black on Black Genesis 4.6 Tech 5 Yesterday, what I great car I love it.

I am having a problem with the head lights though. My old car when you pulled up at your house in the evening and turned off the engine, the headlights would remain on for 30 seconds or so to light up your drive way and allow you to see well. Like wise if you de-activate the alarm in the evening the car turns the headlights on to illuminate the drive way again for 30 seconds or until you open the drivers door.

No matter what I do I can not get the Genesis to do this, each and every time I turn off the car at night all the lights go out and I can't see the steps up to my front door, like wise when turning the alarm off in the evening to get into the car, everything remains dark. How do I get it to work like my old cars have always done ?

When the car is running of course everything functions perfectly, I don't believe theres anything wrong with it, its just a programming issue, but I can't find out how to program it to do anything else ?

Anyone know how to fix this ?

Also is there a cheaper Video In Motion fix for watching DVD's while not in 'P' other than that $400 module I've seen listed in this forum?

Thanks in advance for the help everyone.

I love this car, I am waiting on the custom badging to be completed, I love how it looks all bentley like with those badges on it. God this is a truly wonderful car.

Regarding the headlights....as you said they shut off when the car is turned off etc. Must like my old Subaru's and every other car I've had has done. My dad did have a 1995 Eagle Vision that did what you are explaining, but I don't know how many cars, if any do this anymore. Guess I have good vision in the dark:D

Really? The Genesis is the only car I've had in recent memory that doesn't leave the lights on for ~30 seconds... my 2008 Silverado has delayed headlights, my wife's Camry does, my Expedition does and even my 1998 Lincoln Mark VIII Collector's Edition does.

Most high-end luxury cars have this as an option. You can set whether or not you want the headlights to come on - and how long before they automatically shut off. I'm kinda surprising to hear that the Genesis doesn't have this feature at all. Not a deal-breaker but unusual to me...

Well, seeing as how nobody else has answered his question, I will.

The Genesis does not have this feature!

(That being said, although my Continental has it, and my previous Lincolns and Mercurys had it, I have no need for it, and it does not bother me at all, that the Genesis does not have it - I UNDERSTAND THAT IT IS IMPORTANT TO OTHERS).

That was the first question I had for my dealer was about the headlight delay. My three previous Toyotas were programmable at the dealer. For example you could have them go off immediately, various delay times, or (my preference) go off when you lock the doors with the remote.

My previous Ford products had a little dial you could adjust the delay yourself. However, even Ford cut cost here and did away with that.

I had never noticed since I garage mine and the overhead light is always on when I shut down. This is not a feature I will miss, although there are certainly times when it would be handy.

If I would have to choose, I would much rather have the radio, windows, etc. work for a useful period after shutdown.

I agree, although I don't like how the moonroof won't open or close after cars shut off like the other windows will.
