    If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. Genesis Lounge

Not that I'm a snob or think that I deserve the best at all times, but I feel that if you worked hard to achieve a certain status, then I should be treated as such.

Hyundai is far from a status symbol to the general public. That is a long road not yet completed. Your status achievement by working hard is that you elected not be a status symbol and buy a car which has a huge value proposition and most if not all of the features and engineering of cars costing significantly more. What it lacks is visible status outside of a Hyundai dealership.

Within the dealership, I'm not even sure it yet commands a heightened level of status internally. In a BMW dealership, the 3-series owner and 7-series owner are treated the same even though there may be as much as a $70K gap between cars. I think the price of ownership of the Genesis is to be treated at most dealers the same as an Accent owner. Best value is probably finding a dealer that treats them well and enjoy the status in owning a car that allows you to drive a killer sedan and instead upgrade your TV and lounge at home.

Perhaps I'm being too direct, but I think you miss the point.

The value proposition doesn't necessarily only mean the most hardware for the money.

A large part of the ownership experience (contributing to the perceived value) are things like cleanliness and comfort of the showroom and service waiting areas. Also, how knowledgeable and helpful are the sales and service people. When you make an appointment for service, do they need to search their computers and make 3 phone calls before they find your appointment?

Are things fixed right the first time? When promised a loaner car is it ready when you get there or do they need to find one and get it ready?

When you tell the service writer you think the power point isn't working do they know what a "power point" is?

While you may not put a value on these amenities, others do. When I buy a new car I'm buying into the whole dealer experience and I would like it to be an all around good experience.
 
Personally, I don't give a rat a$$ how their lounge look like, I'm there to fix my car asap by trained professional mechanics, not some rookies. ;)
 
I started out making fun of the comment in the article about HDTV in the waiting room. Everyone has HDTV these days (except maybe dirt poor freelance journalists). I don't think you can even buy a TV that is not HDTV unless it is very small. Then I was told by Nikgen that because I did not own a 2015 Genesis, I had no business posting in this thread, even though this thread has nothing specific to do with a 2015 Genesis, and applies to a waiting room for all Genesis/Equus owners.

Later, it became a little obvious to me that it is not just a matter of having a nice waiting room, but for some people to have a better waiting room than the schmuks who don't own a 2015 Genesis. In other words, if a Hyundai dealer had an incredibly nice waiting room (beyond what any car dealer has regardless of brand), that is not good enough for some people unless they can feel superior by have a better waiting room than the non-Genesis/Equus owners. I don't think I am imagining this or putting words in other people's mouth. I am all for nice waiting rooms, but don't really care that much about using them to make me feel superior to non-Genesis/Equus owners.

The article also points out the little treatments like hand-written notes and Godiva cookies (things I've witnessed at Lexus dealerships) and complementary hand washes for every visit (not just HDTV's). It's about the 'customer experience' for those that would otherwise be treated as such at true premium car dealerships.

I did not slam the idea of treating customers well or having nice waiting rooms, and I only specifically mentioned the HDTV as being a bit ridiculous from a journalism point of view (HDTV is not a luxury item anymore). I don't have a problem with dealers having a nice waiting room for Genesis owners or all their customers. I have personally only spent about 10 minutes total in a Hyundai waiting room, so it is not a big deal to me.

Regarding the car wash, many Hyundai dealers offer that to Genesis/Equus owners, but I have declined because I don't trust their employees to wash my car without scratching it, or without using ammonia glass cleaner on the inside (I have tinted windows). I had enough trouble with the one and only oil change I asked them to do (they did not use the synthetic oil I supplied for the oil change even though it was noted on the work order, and I attached a note to oil filler cap), and don't really want them near my car unless necessary.

Meh I've noticed a huge downgrade from lexus/BMW after visiting a few dealerships.

Wheres the coffee shop, Ipad handouts, Putting green, etc?

I didn't buy the Genesis for the dealer pampering.. I bought it to avoid the dealership.
 
I'm only interested in the new Genesis Lounge when they start offering free mani/pedi's, coffee, popcorn, free dry cleaning and a hooker. I might find more reasons to bring my car in for service. Lol
