1-----SINCE THE NEXT GENESIS COUPE WILL BE HEAVILY BASED ON THE UPCOMING HND9 CONCEPT, WILL THIS DESIGN WITH THE NEW BI-TURBO V6 BE THE CORRECT DIRECTION FOR HYUNDAI TO BRING IT TO THE UPMARKET LEVEL OF THE GENESIS SEDAN?

2-----ALSO DO YOU GUYS THINK THAT CHEIF DESIGNER "PETER SHRYER" CAN PULL IT OFF.

3-----LASTLY, WHICH MAIN LUXURY FEATURE FROM THE SEDAN SHOULD BE DEFINITLY CARRIED INTO THE THE NEXT GENERATION GENESIS COUPE? (EX. POWER SEAT BOLSTERS, CDC SUSPENSION, HEATED STEERING WHEEL, FULL LED LIGHTING, ETC.)

2. I thought Peter Schreyer was Kia? (though there is a credit to him on Wikipedia for the 2016 Hyundai Tucson).
3. CDC suspension, full LED lighting

1. No. Keep sputtering wheezing UPS truck sounding loud blown factory TT V6 for those who want that choice.

Without a improved TAU V8 as a choice, just another greenie trend follower. Add a TAU V8 with variable displacement, large base displacement, 35 mpg hwy capability. Add dealer low labor cost installed (and covered by factory warranty) factory part options to "enhance" the TAU to 600+ HP.. Outside the clutches of Tyrant EPA "corp EPA fleet fuel and emissions standards" (tilted to force on the public wheezing sputtering UPS and Trabant sounding engines with piped in electronic "sounds" into the cabin). Do this with customer created designs (like the Viper just started to do), and this will leap over the traditional world beaters. Then, Hyundai will brand themselves as leaders, not oriental followers as they are branded by too many today.

Maybe a all electric non uber priced customer created version with 500 mile hwy range, licensed to plug into Tesla Super Chargers, 700/700 hp/torque electric version. That way a 95-115e mpg helps CAFE. And the sound of a Dual motor AWD electric is not sputtering truck like. Cool collected and whoosh.

This platform would be a world beater with many options, choices and always great sounding high performance in its electric or V8 versions. People will buy this and collect more than one because as a platform it stands above the rest.

2.) no.. If he ends up saying "geez I could have had a V8".

3.) full self driving and connected experience with its owner. Factory customization online to create a one of a kind for a customer.

The second generation Genesis Coupe should be just as much an upgrade to the first as it was for the Genesis Sedan.

The Coupe DOES need to come upmarket. This is important because "Genesis", whether Hyundai wants it to be or not, is a BRAND. There's no reason to have a more Hyundai-like "Genesis Coupe" than a Genesis-like "Genesis Coupe".

ALL the features from the Genesis Sedan should be found in the Coupe besides a V8. I don't feel it's necessary for the smaller car. UNLESS they're going head to head with cars like the M3, S4, ATS-V and C-AMG, RC-F, etcetera. If they ARE, then a V8 is important unless they have a VERY powerful twin turbo V6 ready to go. BMW's M3 is going to kick ass and take names with it's V6 and everybody who owns one is going to love it.

In any event, I wholeheartedly expect "Genesis" to become a sub brand at one point or another. I feel this is important to continue selling these cars as they become more technologically advanced and better designed - and as prices go up as a result. Since you cannot have a "brand" with two cars - then the survival and continuity of the Genesis Coupe is essential - along with the development of a Crossover SUV.

If some other car comes along to REPLACE the Genesis Coupe - then that's fine. But there needs to be something available to cover the segment...

I love the idea of the coupe taking the same upmarket direction as the sedan!! Like another poster said, "Genesis" is becoming a brand. What's good for the coupe is good for the brand.

I hope that the coupe will benefit from Albert Biermann's (BMW M chief engineer, now @ Hyundai) influence and these benefits will make their way into a performance version of the sedan. Oh my joy, if they make a legitimate competitor for M cars.

Am I the only person giddy with joy at the thought of a Genesis M5 fighter??? :D :D

If they make it look like 80% of those pics and it has the 3.3L V6 Turbo, i will try to trade in my lease very early LOL

I have a feeling Hyundai will have a legitimate M5 fighter before Lexus does...

2. I thought Peter Schreyer was Kia? (though there is a credit to him on Wikipedia for the 2016 Hyundai Tucson).

Schreyer got a promotion as head of design for both Hyundai and Kia, tho too early for any Hyundai production model totally overseen by Schreyer (thinking that Schreyer might have had some say in some minor touches on the new Tucson).

I think Hyundai is going to scrap the genesis coupe and rightfully so.

Might ditch the Genesis moniker for the new RWD coupe (see below).

Since the new RWD coup really pairs up w/ the upcoming compact sedan, might see it w/ a new moniker.

And agree that a V8 isn't necessary - according to those rumors, the N-performance line of the coupe will get a 3.3TT V6 w/ around 480HP - which would be more than the RC-F w/ its V8 (as I stated before, think will come in more around 350-360HP).

Don't think Hyundai has to beat the ATS-V or the next M3 in performance; just needs to be competitive.

Think reliability will be a bigger issue and would rather see Hyundai do things to increase reliability w/ high FI engines than go all out.

A V8 (FI V8) coupe would be better served w/ a higher end model down the road (something more along the $50-55k range to start).

If Hyundai can keep the production version close to the HND-9 concept and Kia the production version of the GT close to concept form - those 2 should make some waves in their respective segments.

Biermann's probably the man when it comes to performance-line powertrains, but Hyundai and Kia already have good suspension/steering tuners down under.

There are a couple of Aussie publications which think the Aussie-spec Sonata has a better suspension tuning than the Genesis (notwithstanding the input from Lotus).

Just wish H/K USA (and Canada) would ditch their own tuning and just use the Aussie-spec tuning (the UK market has done that for Hyundai on some models).

I agree; I think the last thing Hyundai can afford to do is go backwards on reliability in the name of sheer performance. BMW may be able to get away with a bunch of engine failures, but Hyundai certainly cannot. This actually concerns me about Biermann; BMW has an alarming number of failures on its engines that were designed on his watch (just Google BMW rod bearing failure).

hcd-9 video looks amazing probably starting in the mid 40's
if they keep the lambo doors

I have a feeling a new name might come about as well. Especially since I feel "Genesis" is going to become a brand. So you can't have a "Genesis Coupe" if there's potential to have more than one coupe model. Same goes for "Genesis Sedan". These cars are probably going to get new names.

Hyundai definitely doesn't need to beat any of the "fast" cars in the segment. Being competitive is enough considering the price break. Plus, reliability is paramount because you don't have bad experiences being discussed all around the internet. This is probably why Lexus plays it safe - like with the GS-F...

I agree about the name. I've noticed since I bought my car that, whenever I say the name Genesis, most of the younger ones (in their 20s) assume coupe (even though the model names are Genesis and Genesis Coupe). If the new Coupe is anything like that concept, then I think it's way too different to share a model name with the Genesis sedan.

Since it's a sporty coupe, maybe they could bring back the Scoupe.;)

Yeah, of course all the kids are going to thing "Genesis Coupe", right? As far as they're concerned - that's the only Genesis that exists. But we know better. :p

I'm not quite sure "Scoupe" is the name Hyundai should use. :p

I think most people would probably say the same thing about the Tiburon but I thought that was a cool, unique little car...
