  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Every car I have bought is after reading review, talking to people, followed by a short test drive. Generally it has worked out ok. However, this time we want a good road trip car. We are average weight but tall. I had an 2001 Avalon that was comfortable, but Toyota has shrunk the legroom, and stiffened the ride. Do any of you know a car rental company in the Los Angeles area that would have 2015 Genesis available? This way we could try it out for a couple of days and see if it meets our needs. Thanks

Enterprise Rental Car had earlier model years, but don't know about 2015.

Or National which is a sister company to Enterprise. The trick is getting one as they normally don't specify which model you can get, you just pick from the aisle. I used to ask at the smaller locations for them to hold one for me.

Also I am 99% sure Avis had them as well. I never rented from them as I use National but in airports in Montreal and Toronto at least I am pretty sure they had earlier Genesis in their premium car inventory.

Great idea, I had the same one and tried to do EXACTLY that with Genesis as well as several others I was considering, but none of those companies had contracts with rental companies to make them available as fleet cars. A LOT of research resulted in the discovery you could find medium-low priced cars and EXOTIC cars to rent but nothing like the Genesis or Mercedes or Audi etc.

Well I can guarantee you that Genesis are used as rentals. I have rented them a couple of times when travelling. It is a part of the strategy of some car companies to get people to try the car.

Why don't you do an extended test drive from the dealer? I did 2 test drives, each about 3 hours and 70 miles prior to purchasing. That way you can terst drive the model with the options you want.

Many dealers frown upon those extended drives as they lower the value and can make the car harder to sell. Most buyers wants a new car with hundreds of miles, driven by people seeing what she can do. Several dealers I have visited have too little V8 stock to allow test drives and other test drives would not normally be so extended.

Thanks for all your comments. Here is another question to get an idea on driving a 2015. I notice that Enterprise is selling 2013 rentals. While I realize there are many differences between 2013 and 2015 would I get an idea legroom, console, seat comfort, headroom and driving checking one of these out? BTW probably would end up going with Ultimate. And I do realize Enterprise probably just has base car. Any idea how much heardroom is gobbled up by sunroof? Thanks

The 2013 and 2015 models are two totally different car platforms that share only a common nameplate and engine (which was retuned).

I asked 2 dealers for an extended test drive of about 3 hours. One said no (the closer dealer to my house) and the other said yes. The dealer that said yes made a sale even though they were farther away. The price was the same from both dealers.
