Genesis vs CTS coming from MB

I've had four caddys (three CTS and one SRX) and am picking up a Genesis Ultimate 3.8 AWD next week. Would have loved a 5.0 but AWD makes too much sense in snow belt.
I was evaluating against CTS 3.6 Luxury which was still about 5,000 greater MSRP.
I know you were looking at turbo six but I would offer the following concerns I had:
-run flats on Caddy
-is subjective but the Caddy CUE and interior is just too busy
-is subjective but like the Genesis styling- the longer wheelbase proportions the car better and the CTS rear end just seems too big and long for the car
-in my case 8 speed vs CTS 6 speed
-Genesis better rear leg room
-Genesis better warranty
- a laundry list of other options not on the CTS
At the end of the day my Genesis lease is 100 mo. less than the V6 Luxury CTS. My company is paying so price isn't the issue - I just like the car better.
I have read all the reviews- some call Genesis the pretender I like to call it the upstart.
I think this model could change the way we perceive mid luxury car buying in the future.

Those who bash all over TTV6 must have not spent much time in one. I love forced induction. When I was younger, I used to say (and believe) there "is no replacement for displacement". But I was wrong. Forced induction is the future. TTV6 would be my preference to V8 nearly any day. More power, more torque, wider power band, improved MPG (while not using all of that power), lighter weight front end. It is the future and I welcome it. They don't sound like a V8, but I have driven many TTV6 that sound nothing like a UPS truck.

I'm with ya but the statement should actually be "There's no replacement for displacement with technology". Because technically - technology (forced induction) IS, indeed, a replacement for displacement. However, on a level playing field (both v6 and v8 playing with forced induction) - there's still no "replacement". :D

Yes - you are correct. My S550 was TTV8 and it was a beast.

Still, the V6 of 3 to 4 liters with TT are very nice packages because of weight. The V8 with TT is heavy. Meaning V6 of about 3 liters or so with TT is going to have ton of power and it will help handling because it keeps the nose relatively light.

As someone else brought up.. And I agree. The TT 3.0 V6 announced is 40lbs or so lighter than the current non refreshed TAU (actual net weight with all the wheezing inter-cooling plumbing). So much for the idea of large weight reduction. If I lived in Snowmass Colorado, the TT would have its advantages of keeping the power up no matter what the ground altitude is. Then, would get used to the semi muted UPS truck sound, in order to keep up the power compared to a non boosted V8 as those altitudes.

In the end, keep coming back to the frustration point. .Gov is forcing this issue with their faux dyno "street test" run to measure the fake "pollutant" CO2... and have the dyno "street cycles" skewed for faux "real world" mileage which put configurations like a TT (or single T in a 4) at a faux advantage. These cupcake wonks want the "manly" "old" white male created V8 made extinct. Except for a few made for their oligarch handlers placed out of price reach of the common red blooded male.

I have owned many Mercedes in my life, from the 190, 190 injection, E230, E270, E320, ML 350, S320 and SL350 and if is logic, Bmw, Peugeot, Citroen..and more and more..

I am now a happy owner of a wonderful Hyundai Genesis 3.8 full equip

I'm enjoying how long ago did not, my previous car was an Infiniti G37 Convertible, and the Genesis has everything desired, with a fully adjusted impressive reliability a totally interesting and convenient warranty and of course without paying a price by Name

He had already bought two Hyundai I20 for my daughters and totally satifect with, which made up my mind by Genesis

In my long life and traveling a lot, I've been consuming more than 110 cars of all makes, at this time Hyundai is breaking the rules, unfortunately many other brands live on their old names, when the reality is that almost all sold "name only "

Greetings to all and excuse my bad English

Wow, that's a lot of cars! Congratulations and welcome!

As for the English issue, your English is fine. I once knew a lady who's mother was a Romanian immigrant, and her mother would tell people, "I don't think with an accent." I've tried to remember that wisdom in my life. I also think it's good for anyone to visit a country where they don't speak the language; it opens one's eyes for a lot of reasons.

to be honest I didn't read every post in this thread, knowing that...here is my post.

CTS and CTS-V is crap. Super badass looking if your single and want to get tons of VJJ (mostly with the regular coupe or the V in coupe/sedan, but minus the wagon).

The wife and I looked at the 2014 wagon. interior room was horrible and there is no spare tire. The safety rating isn't as good as the Genesis either.

the new CTS and CTS-V....overpriced and marginally upgraded. still crappy interior...imho. for the price of the new V, I could almost buy 2 new Genesis.

Genesis.....minus the little teething issues.....perfection.

that's my mid 30s family man take on it. were I a mid 30s single man hunting VJJ....Cadillac all the way.

Yes, congratulations, Javier! The Genesis is really something. Isn't it? And wow - you've had a LOT of cars. That's awesome!

I wouldn't exactly call the new CTS crap. I like it quite a bit. But you're certainly right about interior volume. And I do like the interior of the Genesis better. But the Cadillac isn't a bad car. And the CTS-V - well I've always liked that car. Especially the second generation...

I love the styling of the second gen CTS-V.

Yeah, the first was a little too sharp-edged for me. I love the third generation but, from the sides, the car is as boring as a glass of water...

NOT directed at you Aqui.... but it seems many on this forum think that a VSport is the same vehicle as the V. For the guys who did'nt know.. these are 2 different cars. CTS-V is the top end deal.. CTS-VSport is the "2nd tier" top end deal.. then comes the regular CTS 3.6 and 2.0.

Gaggan, if you just drive around point a to b and like to look around your interior.. I would get a Genesis or a CTS 2.0 over a VSport or 550i etc..

If you like to REALLY DRIVE.. then the Genesis, 3.8 or 5.0, is just not really in the same category as the VSport IMO. The VSport is better than almost anything out there except the new V and top end competitors. I think you can get a really GOOD DEAL if you carefully plan it out since the CTS are not selling well.

Do an experiment and register in the Caddy forums.. go into the VSport section and ask those guys.. "Why don't you guys trade your VSport for a Genesis ?? "

Please watch this vid below and listen to what Carlitos is trying to say where this car is positioned. There is just much more to the story than these little feature things people nitpick about.

CTS-V is all-out power and competes with the Audi RS6, BMW M5 and Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG. The CTS V-Sport is something that CTS owners have been asking for - for a long time. Before the V-Sport there was a weakish 3.6 liter V6, a freakish 6.2 liter supercharged V8 - and NOTHING in between. That's where the V-Sport comes in. It gives people who aren't necessarily looking for a VERY fast car - but want something with a decent amount of power - an option.

The CTS V-Sport does 0-60 in 4.4 seconds. The outgoing CTS-V does it in 3.9 seconds and the upcoming third generation will probably do it in 3.5...

When the '14 CTS V-Sports were still available for lease, I gave them a serious look. The '15s came along however and the rebates dried up completely. You could get a new V-Sport for just under $50k, which was a LOT of car for the money. The '15s are nowhere near that in terms of price now so I am no longer interested. That's not to say that it isn't a heck of a car. Just very different than the Genesis.

I wonder what these guys are getting after a year of updates to this tune on this dedicated thread below. You can also see the type of guys buying this car. The beginning of the thread is a year old so it has been tweaked even more as of current. HERE : VSport Trifecta Tune Thread

Yeah, I'm not paying that much for a CTS either. They should have named it STS/STS-V and added more features at that price. The "CTS" was the entry level car before. Stupid move...

Yeah, they're fast when tuned. And they're so easy to tune with twin turbo...

I still think they're cheap in comparison to a similarly loaded up 550i or E400, especially the base V-Sport and not the Premium. The lease payments are just more than I would like to pay. In my mind, the V-Sport isn't ~$200/month better than the Genesis.

Yeah, I hear ya. Not worth the extra money...

Wow, look at that. The E550 is gone. I'm sure BMW will follow suit with the 550i...
