  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Wing Emblem Installation Process

I placed an order for 2 Emblems..received them yesterday and noticed that one of the packages says for the Hood and one says for the rear....IS the consensus now that the tabls for the will will fit in the holes and dont have to be cut off?

I wonder if I call Korean Auto Imports they will ship me a rear emblem at no charge (since they shipped me 2 front emblems to begin with).

I would def call them. My guess is that they would try to make amends with you (based on my own experience with them).

Do you have any pics of the rear emblem once it's installed?
I took one picture, but it turned out poorly. It looks basically the same as yours does. I didn't get any detail shots of it.

Calling them is worth a shot. I checked their site and saw that you are supposed so select from a drop-down menu which emblems you want. I am not sure if they offered that when you purchased yours.

Njohnson, some dealers will install your parts, some won't. We are lucky here in that we have a large number of car guys here so we are often willing to tackle a random installation when most dealers would show you the door. As for the chrome strips at the bottom of the doors, I am sure that is something that we could look at. The thing to do would be to see how the new part attaches and then you can determine if it is something you want to try and do or not. The hardest part about trim work like that is getting the old part off without damaging it. Once the old part is off (its probably just several plastic clips like most side moldings) you can just pop the new part on. If your dealership service department won't touch it, ask the body shop manager. That's what they do for a living. I would be surprised if they turn you down.

They will probably even throw in a fresh roll of minty floss. :D

Are the wings as upward slanted as the front emblem? Based on the pics on their site it looks like one emblem has a more flat wingspan.

I don't recall a drop down menu on their site when I ordered, but who knows. I'll give it a shot when I order my center caps and chrome door trim later this week. Wish me luck. :)

Good luck. Looking at the emblem, it does appear that on the one for the decklid the wings are not quite as upswept as the one for the hood.

NOw that the tabs on the rear emblem dont have to be cut off and seem to fit in the holes how are they attached...Is the Emblem screwed on or is there a clib you have to buy?

FWIW, I called Korean Auto Imorts last night. They are back ordered on the "small" wing emblems (the one for the trunk), the chrome door moldings, and the 18" wheel center caps. Estimated wait time is 3 weeks. :( Some dealership snatched them all up! Ed, would that be you? ;)

No luck on getting any reimbursement for my expense, but I was too tired to really push the issue. They even admitted to not offering the "small" wing emblem when I originally purchased them as they said they weren't available for purchase at that time. IMO they should have at lease offered to sell me a small emblem at their cost (e.g. no markup), especially since there was no disclaimer on their site that these emblems are not intended for the trunk and therefore do not match up w/ the existing holes.

Wow, good pricing! Thanks Hyundai Genesis.

It is true, us early adopters always pay the price, pun intended! ;)

As for KAI pricing, I can't believe what they want for the premium Genesis floor mats....well over $300!!

So BWRic did you order the wheel caps? Too bad they are not on E-Bay...

Yup, on order with KAI. Think I'll keep an eye on eBay too, since 50% less for the wheel caps would be a good deal. KAI advised today caps will be in 8/21. Just debating whether to spend the $15 bucks to do the rear wings right. Kinda like what I got so far.

Need Your Opinions on The Wing Badges - Tonight!

Alright guys, I am the proud new owner (technically a "leasee" - not an owner) of a Genesis V-6 w/Tech package!!! I will do a proper post in the General discussion board later but I need your opinions asap.

Got the vehicle at about 8:00 pm last night. Had the windows tinted at noon today. Had radar detector hard-wired at 3:00 pm, and installed badges at ... Oh wait - I was going to install the badges tonight until I peeked at the forum today and see that THERE ARE DIFFERENT REAR BADGES!!! :mad:Great to have the info but this is really trying my patience as well as my OCD.

Called KAI today about 57 times between noon central and 4:00 pm. Finally got someone and asked for them to overnight the rear badges to me. Similar to jwaters, they would not work with me at all (despite the fact that I have another $300 worth of stuff on order with the chrome accents and wheel caps). They acknowledged the error but their idea of working with me was giving me the privilege to return the other emblems and get the correct rear one if I choose. Wow - what an honor. So.... here is where I need your advice:

KAI said that the rear emblem is "quite a bit smaller". Do I just go with the curved badges on front and back or would you guys wait for the "correct" rear flat badge if you had to do it over?

I am heading to the garage with my blow dryer to remove the rear emblem so any opinions would be much appreciated!
