  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Update continued

5. Voice commands seem to work better! I had zero luck with any voice commands prior to this point. My first test was an easy one: Find Tim Hortons! It immediately returned a VERY long list. I then tried a bunch more, some worked, others didn't. More voice testing to follow.

Well, that is pretty useless advice. Following your lead I tried the same. Sure, it gave me a list of them but the closest Tim's is 840 mile away. By the time I get home, the coffee is cold and the donut stale.

Sigh

I really did try it figuring there was some sort of radius for a limit of say 100 miles but the list was quite extensive. The 840 miles was in Ohio. Others were over 1000 miles. I'd have to stop for coffee along the way to get a coffee.

I really don't use the onboard stuff for that - Since I have my phone plugged in most of the time, I just use the button on the wheel to yack at Siri.... Of course, having an 2015 Ultimate I'm boned if I want to use Car Play.

Hello all, looking for troubleshooting advice. I have the 2015 Hyundai Genesis (8 inch screen). I successfully downloaded the navi update available from the website...

The map update is fine. As many have mentioned the colour scheme will hopefully be updated at some point…

The issue I have is that I listened to my music collection in the vehicle using a USB key. This functionality seems to have been taken away with the navi update. The various possible options to access on screen are in dull text and the icons are "dormant".

Since I have a 2015, I don't believe I can use Apple Car Play or Android auto.

Any ideas to workaround?

Thanks

There is a chance your 15 needs the USB stick to perform updates correctly.?

Thanks for the reply but I am not sure I understand your reference to the "USB stick"...I updated using the Hyundai website and not the Map N Soft option.
The website and/or MapBNSoft is where you get the update from. He was asking how you deliver that software to your car. Some of the older versions require a USB drive to receive the software from the web and deliver it to your car. Most of the newer versions do so with an SD card.

Hope that helps.

Thanks, I did the download from the hyundai website and transferred it onto a 32GB SD card...Over the weekend, I took a nice drive and the system was updated using the SD card.

That clarifies it perfectly. To your original question, there is no way anyone has found to put Android Auto or Car Play on those cars. It is not possible even on my 2017 since it is a "jog wheel" configuration.

I thought the 17's had CP/AA w/ Jog Dial.... But my Map Soft pkg. did come with a USB stick.

Nope. If you have a jog dial, you can not have AA/CP. The head unit hardware will not allow it. Some 17s do not have the jog dial, so they can get AA/CP

Every time I updated my 15 Ultimate I went through mapnsoft. They sent me a USB and an SD card. And depending on what version you currently have it might ask to insert USB as well as SD card when doing updates.

Understood, I hadn't updated the system since purchasing the car. I went with the website option since Mapnsoft didn't have an update available for my 2015 Genesis that I purchased here in Canada.

I think that you need the USB stick if you haven't done an update in a long time... Think I've got a spare, I didn't end up having to use it.

the first time you update a 2015 it requires both a USB and the SD card to enable the grayed out Update button. Subsequent updates no longer require the USB, just the SD card.

Do I write over the SD card I received in June for my 2015 Genesis map update? My preference is to buy a new class 10 32 GB SD card so I can go back to the old version if the update doesn't work. Anyone tried a specific SD card? If the update works, I can switch back to the "official" SD card for my next update.
