Get the map updated - cheaper / easier now

Got the map update for 2015 Ultimate. It came with both the SD card and a USB. Needed to plug in both to perform the update.

I assume that the instructions are included with that... It's not clear what you do with both pieces of media.

Still waiting on mine:-( Keeps getting delayed by FedEx. They said they tried to deliver it 2x but access to my home was blocked? Guess the FedEx guy or gal is scarred by my kids drawing with chalk on my driveway LOL. They are trying again today so hopefully they will actually deliver it. I have the original map and firmware that came with the car and I hope this will include my families houses in Iowa. My 2015 Sonata could find them but my Genesis blocks out the entire neighborhood even though the one home was built for a Civil War General so I'm pretty sure it was there while they mapped out the area!

Seems like the folks whom used FedEx get some bit of run around with delivery times and such?

Yeah. I ordered the 27th and paid for 2 day delivery & FedEx didn't even pick it up until the 1st - that's the day the it was supposed to arrive. It spent all day @ the Houston facility yesterday before they decided to put it on the truck for delivery today.

FedEx seriously dropped the ball - but complaining to them is pretty useless.

Good to know that! Mine is out for delivery too. I can't wait to update mine! I am so excited like I just won the lottery lol. I will finally be able to see my house and the street on the map!

Maybe. My street is about 3 years old and it is not on any maps. Reported but made no difference.

I have finally updated mine. Previous version was 07. I have 2015 Ultimate and got the usb and a card. The update took 37 mins. Wow, I love it! Looks sharp and I like the new Milk color. The best thing is that if I shut the car off while listening to BT music and turn it back on, it automatically switches mode to BT so I don't have to trigger it anymore when returning to the car yay! Also, the show speed on display is great too because if you change mph to kmh, it shows your current speed in kmh. It will come in handy next time I visit Canada.

Keep an eye on it... If the tracking stays on "Label Created" for more than a day, you may want to look into it. FedEx hasn't even picked mine up yet.

Bought on Friday 5/1, didn't expect any activity over the weekend, was going to login today, 5/5, to check the status, but Fedex already delivered it! So with my paypal credit, I got it with 2 day shipping for less than $22!

Just noticed that music volume turns down when you get into reverse. So happy that the previous owner never upgraded the maps. Now I get to enjoy all the new features and the look instead of just a few new things.

Did the sound quality change? Music/cd/Bluetooth I had original software in my car when I purchased. I was really happy with the update. The 170$ one. I hope they stay at the current price.

SirusXm seemed to sounds crisper, better quality but I only listened to one song and it might have just been the song or reception. I have no idea. I will keep and eye on it and report back.

Oh crap , l really don't have a clue what happened there? They were lost in transit. And the one package had 2 tracking #s? Took like 3 weeks to get the stinking things.

The documentation said that the USB was required for 2015's - I didn't end up needing it, just the SD card. However, my H/U was replaced by the previous owner.

I haven't listened to much music yet, but it seems unchanged.

The 3D buildings show some impressively accurate details - here's some buildings in Downtown Houston...

I’m digging the new media screen.



They changed the drive mode color scheme a bit. Now it’s in line with the new model years.

The map got a huge overhaul, although it might not be perfect since the new features are really taxing on the wimpy processor in the H/U. So it has some lag compared to the previous version. The RAM is pretty much maxed out too so making mods is pretty much out the window for future revisions- at least not without gutting system modules.

Audio received no processing changes this revision, so if you hear a difference you likely missed it a couple updates back. It wasn’t much anyway, just a tweak to Surround EQ.

Yeah - I have a '15 but according to the Carfax the H/U was replaced sometime in late '16 under warranty.

Didn't need to do it in my '15. Guess it was because the H/U in mine had been replaced.
