  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Get the map updated - cheaper / easier now

Disabling connected services: Map routing still works fine. On particularly complicated routes like navigating dozens of back streets it takes about 15-25 seconds to calculate a route. It's running at extreme system load (8-10) and probably won't get any faster.

Enabling connected services: Map routing works better. On the same route as above calculation time is just shy of 5 seconds.

My guess is they brought this out because they are reaching the limits of the older hardware. Even though the changelog for my version doesn't include it, I'm guessing it's actually there.

Thanks for the detailed explanation. Your using some terminology that I don’t understand. What does 8-10 refer to?

Also guys be advised I have an open ticket with map n soft they discovered a error in some Sd card where maps will not display roads below .25 view they are working mine and said the fix has been sent to them from Hyundai and will get users affected replacement asap it’s noted it causes traffic to not be displayed on the map over lay also
I'm having the same issue. All roads disappear below 0.25 miles view.

OK...I need some help with the math here. Given that:

1. I ordered my SD card on April 27th
2. They shipped my SD card on May 1st
3. To date, I have received four automated notices from USPS that my SD card has moved from one unnamed facility to another.
4. Eventually, it will be transferred to Canada Post for shipment to my home

AND

5. The movement of the tectonic plates creates three types of tectonic boundaries: convergent, where plates move into one another; divergent, where plates move apart; and transform, where plates move sideways in relation to each other. They move at a rate of one to two inches (three to five centimeters) per year.
6. This tectonic movement will make the maps inaccurate......

then the question:

7. Will the maps still be accurate when they finally arrive in Canada???????

Given the time lapse from shipment to today, I'd think your SD card is sitting in a deep gorge where the tectonic plates moved apart.

Go to the nearest gas station and ask for a paper map. It worked in 1960, it will work now. You can cut and tape it as the plates shift so it is always up to date. Add new roads with colored pencil

Processor load average in Linux (this is a Linux radio) refers to how close to process queuing a processor is. Each processor core equals 1, while utilization can range from 0.xx to X.xx- where <1 numbers refer to less than full load, 1 = full load without making things wait, anything >1 means there's a line building up waiting for the processor to handle them. The radio in this car is a single core model, not very fast, so easy to wipe out with complicated instructions. The load average reaching 8 means that single core is handling 8 times too many operations, which directly translates to delay calculating routes.

That's impressive EdP! Riding in a Vega ,that many miles? WOW!
Only one way. Flew back. My brother moved out there and they shipped one car, he drove one, I followed a couple of weeks later with the third. My wife would not drive since my brother was rather fussy with his cars.
It would be more comfortable in a Genesis, but it was a fun trip, Did it again in a '68 Impala towing a trailer with a '29 Model A. Two drivers that trip though.

I love the looks of them old impala's. That's one hell of a ride . Coast to coast! Back in the day that's what we used to pull trailers. Cars or station wagons.

How are you liking the new update skipgen?

I like it. Seems to work well enough. The new colors & graphics for the maps & streaming music really spruce things up - almost like I'm driving something newer. Doubt it would be all that worth it @ $170, but for the $25 or so, ya can't beat it!

I am yet to do my install. After reading some of the posts about them changing stuff to a cloud base server, well I dont know much about this stuff and I am just thinking it over I suppose. If I drive the car this weekend I might install it?

Doesn't really matter to me - it could have gerbils running on a wheel inside the dash, just as long as the thing works as it should.

My understanding is that having some of the computation offloaded to the cloud would allow it to do more things at an acceptable speed - extending it's useful lifespan... At least until it's time to trade!

Hi. I will appreciate some help from anyone. I tried to buy the map update but it does not give me the option to add to cart. I tried both USA and Canada options. I have a 2015 Technology pack in Canada which comes with the smaller screen (touch only).

I know most people have already ordered it but it doesn't seem to be working for me. If anyone else is facing the same problem, please let me know.

Thanks

I believe some Canadians in this post have ordered it by selecting the US option but gave a Canadian Shipping address and it worked.
