If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Based on all the valuable and much appreciated feedback from forum members here, I'm going to take the first step toward getting a Genesis. My wife and I will test drive a 2010 4.6 Tech and, if we like it (and I have to assume we will), I'll be trading in our 2006 Lexus IS350.

First of all, can anyone recommend a dealer in the So Calif area (preferably the SFV or Ventura county)?

Secondly, there are a few new ones on ebay from a dealer in Kansas for just under $39k. Interestingly, yesterday carsdirect.com had 2010 models and a 4.6 tech was right around $40k. Today, they only list 2009 models. Anyway, is this about the target price I should shoot for (before T&L)?

Finally, I'm aware of a lease deal on the V6 model. But, are there any incentives on the 4.6 (interest rate, etc.)? I would really prefer a purchase over a lease.

Thanks again for all the great feedback!

Re: Try Costco... Really! ...Gonna shop this weekend for a 2010 4.6 Tech

Although I didn't get my Genesis thru Costco, they do have an excellent buying program. Once you have a fair idea of what you want, give them a call. They will put you in touch with an "internet sales manager" or some other strange title at that dealer.

You talk to him. He gives you a good price, with virtually no add ons (unlike most dealers).

Your car is delivered thru his Dealership, which is usually not far away.

Give it a try... couldn't hoit!

I have been happy with my dealer - Ladin in Thousand Oaks/Westlake.

Keyes Hyundai in Van Nuys. Their website actually lists the inventory and the pictures of the actual cars, not the manufacturer's pictures. Check it out. Let me know if you need the name of sales person.

Ladin and Keyes are probably the closest. I bought an RX7 from Ladin a million years ago. I had an ok experience. And, I got an MDX from Keyes. It's a huge operation. Good to know you had good experiences.

Thanks.

Yeah, as you're aware they own Van Nuys Blvd. They usually have very good inventory. Keep pressing them on a new car, remember dealers will sell cars at cost and at a loss, hoping to make money on the back end (service, financing, parts, maintenance). Good luck. Let me know if you need anything else.

A bit further away is Hardin Hyundai - just east of the 57 freeway, north of Anaheim Stadium & the Honda Center. They do the CostCo program too. Salesman Ryan is a younger guy, doesn't try any of the underhanded sales tactics either. The finance guy didn't try shenanigans with me either.

Good luck with the test drive & shopping. I tried to go the Costco route (in South Florida), but that dealer seemed pretty clueless. It's a shame because I previoulsy bought a hybrid thru Costco and that worked out well.

Anyway, when the dealer in the Costco program didn't pan out, I went onto the American Express program (thru Zag.com). The advantage of that program is that you see the price before you submit your contact info (includes the ability to choose your option to make the price as accurate as possible). It allowed me to have up to 3 dealers to contact me. In the end, I did buy a 4.6 tech this month at the price Amex promised.

Best of luck!

PS - the Amex link is http://amexnetwork.zag.com/main.html... no one asked to see my Amex and in fact I used my Visa for the down payment.

I bought 1 of those 2010 4.6's on Ebay from the Mission Hyundai in Kansas Cityl Flew out and drove back east. Bought it with tech package for approximately $39,750.00. Very Pleased with purchase and car

Stay away from Hardin

We agreed on a price for a 2010 4.6 with tech over the phone. I gave them the opportunity to match a Costco price from another dealer. They said they would match it. Got there and we agreed again on the price with the salesman, then the finance guy comes out with paperwork for a price of $5000.00 more than agreed , they said it was a misunderstanding, the next time it was only $3500 more than agreed, I should of walked but the color was hard to find at the time in so-cal. On the third try after nearly walking out they finally came out with the right contract.... very crocked.

will never do business with them again

Although I don't belong to Costco (none close to me), a few years ago, I purchased a car using the AAA program. AAA negotiates a price with various dealers on various cars. I contacted AAA, and they told me what dealer to visit. (They only give you one dealer, and only if that dealer does not have the car [color, equipment] you want, will AAA send you to another dealer).
The dealer did have the car I wanted, and the price was much lower than if I tried to haggle. The best part was, after the sale, I sent in the paperwork to AAA, they looked it over to make sure the dealer sold me the car without adding on anything over what AAA said they should.

Only did this once, but it worked for me.

Wow, totally different than my experience. Maybe my getting there very late in the day helped? I arrived about an hour before closing time... by the time I was done with my test drive the dealership was technically closed. Folks had to stay late to do paperwork... a trick I'll remember from now on. I bought mine at the end of the month too - I've heard stories that makes a difference though I don't believe them. I bought the last day of those tax benefits though - that was my reason for finally buying a car after talking about getting a new one for months. Knowing I was buying via CostCo program, rather than "matching another dealer's CostCo price" may have helped too: perhaps CostCo "checks up" on the dealers like AAA does as noted by ctrcbob? Whatever the reason for the different treatment you experienced , I'm surprised. That's the kind of crap I've seen/experienced at "Power" owned/operated dealerships.

Got my 2009 via Costco. I thought it diminished the hassle factor, and plan to use the program again in the future. Hope you love the '10, you'll find it quite a bit larger inside and out than the IS (I moved over from an ES, without a shred of regret).

Just bought 4.6 with tech pkg , I-Pod, and trunk liner for 38,500 OTD in OKC. 2010 model. Best I could do

Wow! That's an amazing price OTD. What's the sales tax rate in OKC?

^ That's what I got on mine, but I had to go to Texas. Hyundai had a $1500 competitive rebate that I was told ended last year. You might check into that. My prices were before taxes.
