  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Well... this came a bit of an unexpected turn lol.

I was ready to get rid of the Genesis and go for the 2015 Genesis at first, then I cross shopped other cars and went to the BMW dealer today and..... decided to go with the brand new 2014 BMW 428i Full Loaded w/ M Sport.
It won my heart after test driving it, and also has a much better Navigation and touchpad where you can draw on it (similar to the Audi). Also a lot of other options compared to the Genesis although there is a price difference so I can understand that.

I loved the red interior and told myself I would not go with another black car after this one so I chose the white instead. Which looks great with the red interior.

OTD price was $62,000, which included my negative equity of $3,500 and Wheel / Tire Warranty for 5 years (covers replacement of all tires for 5 years if any have nails, etc in it).
The LED headlights are a nice touch and love it, I was a bit disappointed that the new Genesis did not come with LED headlamps. These ones are nice and bright!

The drive is very fast, and I love the sport mode option where you can actually truly feel a difference in the drive.

And here are some pictures:

Traitor! NA jk nice ride i hope you enjoy it.:D

Thanks lol, I would have kept my Genny a little longer but it was just depreciating a bit too fast.. and I wanted to try out a coupe this time and have some fun with it!

Or at least until I have any kids :D

Assuming that the OTD price includes tax, then (and with negative equity on trade-in) that makes your BMW about same as MSRP for 2015 Genesis V8 Ultimate RWD. The BMW should retain its value better than the Genesis.

Looks like the BMW wheels are good enough to keep without having to replace them.

Lets race!:D

You got that right - wrestling car seats, kids and kid paraphernalia in and out of the back seat of a coupe is a major pain. I bought a coupe (Toyota) after my kids were gone, and even then I came to hate it within a few months. Direct access to the rear seat makes a huge difference, and coupe doors tend to be wide and heavy.

Thankfully I don't plan on kids for the next few years! Lol

Congratz on your new purchase!

You're comparing apples to oranges here with genesis and bmw 428. One is a large sedan and the other one is a small coupe. That coupe is also slower than the genesis 5.0. If I ever would've decided to go with a bmw it would be the 550 but I don't think paying double for almost the same thing is worth it. (yeah, quicker transmission but so what)

Congrats on your new car! It'll be a wonderful ride for 4 years, 50,000 miles. :)

Congrats!!
Also, it's impressive to see that you're 24, own a (web design?) business and can buy a brand new BMW. I should have paid more attention in my HTML5/CSS/JS classes ;) Rock on!!

For a 24 year-old, the BMW is going to be a much better chick-magnet. Unless he wants to drive on the Daytona International Speedway, the difference in HP is not going to make any difference whatsoever. At 0-35, I would bet the 428i is quicker.

I guess you're right about the chick magnet part - it does look really cool. About acceleration - you're off the mark. The 428i's power to weight is quite a bit lower compared to the genesis 5.0.

I never had the Genesis 5.0, only the 3.8 so in compared to my previous car it's faster and feels faster too. I'm happy with it

The V6 Genny and the BMW 428i have the same quarter mile time of 14.1 seconds. The V6 Genny (and even the 2013 RSpec) is cheaper but with the Bimmer you get that pretty little hood ornament, which is like a license to ignore all traffic around you.

Ouch.

I too have a pretty hood ornament.

(not my car, but you get the idea)

I was talking about normal driving in areas that have speed limits. As far as 0-35 time (not a typo, I mean thirty-five MPH) I would still put my money on the 428i. It is lighter, quicker off the line, and more responsive tranny.

Looking cool is part of it, but most chicks respond to a BMW because it represents money, success, security, etc. Has some to do with evolution and nesting, etc. A Hyundai Genesis might even cost more than some BMW's, but most people don't know that.

I've only had my car for a few months, yet have seen many people walk by my Genesis (while parked), stop, walk around, and wonder what kind of car it is.

Never with any other car I've owned.

Well, now you have no excuse to not have a trophy babe in the passenger seat. Good luck with the new BMW!
