  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Here's what I'm driving for the past 2 days as a rental while my car bumper is being repainted....this will fix anyone's criticism of the 2015 model! The Toyota Yaris! Ugh! :-) It didn't have to be just ugly...it had to be BRIGHT and ugly.

the "bright" side of this is you will appreciate your car even more when you get it back.

That is toooo funny! Yes, you will never take Genny for granted. hehehe

Don't tell me, you park that thing on your driveway? .... I know I wouldn't :D

Is that really any worse than a POS red Hyundai Accent?

Sweet ride! LOL. At least it looks clean!

It could be worse, I had a filthy Sonata Hybrid loaner the other day while the dealer was installing a bumper protector film applique and mud guards onto my wife's Genesis. It looked like a dust bunny had exploded inside and I was afraid to touch anything for fear of unleashing a thick cloud of dust. The suspension on those things is pretty terrible... I felt like I was going down the road on a pogo stick...

Then I got an even more filthy Audi A8L loaner while my Audi was in for replacement of some malfunctioning interior bits. There was a sticky residue all over the center console and gauge cluster, food crumbs on top of the steering column, deodorant stains on the front seatbacks, pooled liquid stains on the back seat cushions, and sticky fingerprint smudges all over the navigation screen and door panels.

Seriously, don't dealers clean their loaners after they're returned!?!?

And, conversely, I don't understand how customers feel that it is acceptable to mess up the loaner vehicles so badly.

Yes. Right before slapping the CPO sticker on it....

Great car compared to the Dodge Caliber my Lexus dealer gave me for a loaner a couple of years ago (to be fair , it was a rental - dealership was out of Lexus loaners).

In any case, worst car I'd ever driven.

This is a rental too...the dealership is paying for it. I'm told I may get my car back today. I'm sure I'll fall in love with it all over again. :-)

One thing I need to give props to Acura.. Their loaners were immaculate. Had a TL for 3 years, always had a loaner when bringing it in for service. Either had a TL or TSX for a loaner, always clean, washed, vacuumed.

Funny that the dealer is an Acura/Hyundai dealer (bought both cars from them). The only time I needed a loaner from the Hyundai side, I was put into a dirty Sonata. It only had 2000 miles, but looked like 20,000.

I heard they put Equus owners into Genesis loaners. But Genesis owners? Meh.

Would be nice to see all dealers offer loaners that at least are in the same size class car that is being repaired. Obviously, helps if they are also clean and in good running order, but no reason to be crammed into a Yaris if one is driving a large sedan.

Really? Do you own an Accent? Do you own a Genesis? Have you ever owned a Hyundai?

Again w/ your baseless conditions (have you ever owned the current Accent?).

The Accent is a pretty nice sub-compact as sub-compacts go these days (tho, I'd rather go w/ the Rio or Sonic or maybe wait for the new Mazda2).

The Yaris is a PoC which is why Toyota lags way behind in sales in the subcompact segment even w/ over 50% of Yaris sales going to rental fleet.

That's one thing Hyundai should have done w/ the new Genesis is to guarantee at least Azera loaners (even if that meant raising the price a little).

Going forward - w/ each new launch of a luxury model, Hyundai should guarantee loaners (in the future, at least an Azera or the upcoming RK sedan).

Rental companies are not incented to rent cars to customers that can't stand to drive them. They are in the business of satisfying customer demand and getting repeat business. They also appreciate reliable cars, since they get very heavy use.

Based on listings a used Genesis cars for sale, a very large percentage of them are former rentals, so lets not talk out of both sides of our mouth.

fwiw i've been in and driven both (rentals). the accent is (in all aspects) a predictable but peppy subcompact.

the yaris is a rattling can of untightened screws - looks like a tin of tuna and handles/rides worse.

OP - good luck getting your ride back.

Gee, then why are so many of the old Dodge/Chryslers rentals?

Why is the old, way outdated Impala now a rental fleet special?

Yes, some Genesis were sent to rental lots but we're talking about 17% (for 2012) - and that was on purpose by Hyundai to get more drivers to basically test drive the Genesis.

Otoh, in 2012 - 54% of Yaris sold went to fleet.

Compare that w/ 13% for the Accent and 10% for the Rio and both outsold the Yaris w/ Hyundai outselling the Yaris by a 2:1 margin (and by retail sales - closer to a 4:1 margin).

That's hardly talking out of both sides.

As usual, you have just a superficial knowledge about these things.

fwiw

I got it back yesterday and it's nice to be back into the car. Coming from a Yaris rental, it really makes this car feel soooo nice! :-)

A Chevy Vega would feel better than that rental
