So I got to spend some real time in my Genesis's back seat t oday. We had to take a 2 hour road trip to my brother in laws to see him off to Iraq again, so we picked up my father in law and I let the wife drive while I stretched out in the back.
All I can say is that I'm envious of my passengers! And reminded why I bought a large car. Sitting in the rear seat when buying the car is one thing, actually spending real time back there really shows off how well appoined this car is.
First, plenty of room for me to stretch out and be comfy sitting. My knees didn't come close the front seat back, nor did I feel hemmed in by the ceiling or between the arm rest and center console. It was about 80 degrees today, so I adjusted the rear vents in the center console and on the b pillar to ensure I'd stay cool. When the sun came through the back window I had my "Chauffuer" raise the sun screen, and I was never uncomfortable, but wouldn't hav minded shades for the side window as well.
Of course, the windows are large and the whole rear of the cabin has a nice, airy feel. Without having to pay attntion to the road, I was free to car watch, and take in all the stares by other drivers. People still ogle this car, and Sterling Blue on a sunny day certainly demands attention.
The seat cushioning was great over two hours. Good thigh support, easy to relax and settle in, and the car ride was buttery from the back seat. It really reminded me of my old 745iL or my friend's s320 with the air suspension.
The more I experience this car, and the more I see what Hyundai has done with this car, espcially compared to other "luxury" cars, the more I am impressed with the Genesis and just how much bang for the buck I got!
