  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

GV60 Canadian Deposit - Local Dealer Information & Timelines

While we are all playing the waiting game, I am curious to hear your thoughts on this question : If one cancels his preorder, does the car go back in the main pool or the dealership can keep it to sell. If it goes back in the pool, we then have a bit of leverage to negociate for a few perks. If the dealer can keep the car, then no leverage at all.

That's a good question.

Do we know if the "pool" is National, Provincial or by Dealership?

Michel

I would say, it depends where the car actually is, or build stage is.
If the cancellation happened before the car being built, in the container shipping across ocean, at the dealership, it all depends.
Then dealership will call the next in row, if someone wants to move up (possibility changing their order).
Hoping stealership doesn't charge you extra for that early up.

Apparently Hyundai is doing that with the Ioniq 5. Family members ordered theirs and were told if someone cancels and one comes early they will be selling them for a $20k CAD markup

"Apparently" Nothing bothers me as much as complete and utter unfounded speculation. So Hyundai says we've got your order and it will be at MSRP but if you move up because of a cancellation is $20K more. That is ridiculous.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
It’s worth pointing out that since in Canada Genesis dealers are also Hyundai dealers that mainline Hyundai salespeople are able to talk to customers about Genesis orders (but aren’t supposed to do sales I believe). The GM of my dealer has been dealing with me primarily and the other two salespeople that are “Genesis” have had some holidays and on occasion I end up talking to somebody not listed on the Genesis website- they have access to basically all the same information and you shouldn’t regard that as shady/scam/not-legit/etc. No issues there.
In Quebec, we have seperate Genesis dealers. My dealer is a new establishement selling only Genesis cars.

More along the lines of if you never ordered one and dont wanna wait you can buy this cancelled order for 20k more. Which apparently they have done cause people dont want to wait.

I use "Apparently" because its not first hand experience and just conversation with others who shared their experience

Sorry Correction Dealership was marking it up $5-8k then people were selling privately for 20k more.

Wow if I didn’t know better I would think this forum was on FB or some other conspiracy theory based online group, and we were discussing a divisive subject like Covid! We have people accusing others of lying about who they spoke at the dealership(Josh) and others accepting as gospel their dealers assertion that information on build numbers provided by other dealerships is “trafficking in false information”! People need to chill alittle here - first and foremost we are talking about a car here something that in the scope of things is pretty inconsequential when you really think about it - don’t believe many in Ukraine would appreciate our indignation and outrage regarding not getting daily updates on price, availability and delivery of our precious GV60! Secondly while I’m sure people are tired of hearing it the new normal is that there are significant supply chain issues which impact all areas of our life in particular in the area of manufacturing - if anyone has purchased a major appliance or furniture over the past two years they can attest to their lack of reliable information from salespeople to corporate personnel on when or if their purchase will arrive! Our experience with Genesis/Hyundai is no different than any number of forums I follow in the automotive world whether it regarding mainstream gas or ev offerings like Ford to other non mainstream startups like Vinfast or Fisker. The reality is no one from the CEO to the frontline salesperson really knows till the vehicle shows at the showroom truly when your vehicle will be arriving and what features may or may not be deleted due to chip shortages! While I agree information sharing from dealership to dealership and one corporate entity to another could/should be better, the reality is consumers don’t want to hear “we don’t know” so while some in the auto industry try to give the best answer based on the information they have available, others don’t! - godforbide a car salesman not being honest - who would think!
Interestingly enough the one auto manufacturer who is able to give relatively accurate info on current delivery of their product is Tesla who is unique in ensuring parts availability much farther down the supply chain than other manufacturers! This from a corporate entity that has a significant history of never delivering new designs on time!

The point, is. Was it sold at 20k$ more? Sold or selling at 20k$. Rumor stay rumor. We try here not to speculate and spread wrongful rumor. I would say, no one is paying that much. If so, they will buy a Tesla Y at MSRP. And they deliver quicker than any body else.

I love you response. However people are free to rumor. But should not spread if the information are not accurate nor verifiable or second handed. No one should rumor unless they really being the one really purchase that at 20k$+ markup. Too bad for that dude that can foot out that much more. But no one here would expect that in Canadian dealerships. I cannot say for us, but my dealers are telling me. No extra markups.

okay have been lurking here and finally registered.

Let's all calm down here. Irige simply mixed up information he received from his family member. I agree he should not have shared information that he "believed" were facts without fact checking, when really he just remembered it wrong. We all have flaws. Slap him on the wrist and move on.

The parent dealership has to be a Hyundai. No way around that.

Sorry Birdman was not accusing you of lying about who you spoke to, was confirming you were indeed talking to someone in the Calgary dealership as I cannot find their contact information. I was hoping to see if I could get more from him then I got from my contact at the dealer.

This.

Also, Genesis/Hyundai and (even) dealers can't be happy with the situation and uncertainty. Being honest and sharing 'We don't know' is hard in most relationships.

It is a frustrating time, but these are first world troubles. Of course I, too, want my car to arrive tomorrow. Enjoy the weekend everyone.

We did a kitchen renovation last spring. Our fridge was order in March 2021. Still has t arrived, still no ETA, although every update we get is like pulling teeth and we keep hearing, sometime in the next 4-6 weeks.

I ordered an appliance accessory in August 2020 and I am still waiting for it. I know the feeling and that's why I am not concerned about vehicle delays. It's a worldwide issue and not exclusive to Genesis or the GV60.

Irige - my rant was not directed at you, it was just about where this forum appeared to be headed to And the need for everyone to put things in perspective is all! By the way I was not the one who spoke to Josh believe that was rickcinyyc I am dealing with Genesis Edmonton😜
