  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I think so.

Anybody have this issue on a 2023 model? Though I doubt they changed anything for 23.
Yes, in for the second time after replacing the rear differential. The original whining noise was during deceleration between 45-52 and is now occurring between 65-70mph. Technician claimed it was an AWD normal sound. Currently driving an AWD GV80 that drives perfectly with absolutely no differential or sound issues.

Called service, appointment set for 22nd… I brought new part number to their attention, so hopefully this is what I’ll end up getting.

I have the whining noise between 50-60mph and a deep rumle around 35. Both are faint. The tech claimed he did not hear anything.
Will it typically get louder in time?

Yeah, bad tech - they won't find the problem if they don't want to. Try again and be more insistent - go on the test drive with them if you have to. Usually just very gradually accelerating will highlight the noise. I assume you have the 2.5T? It will need the differential replaced.

In my case they had two technicians doing the trouble shoot, one driving while the second sat in the back and listened. I think that is best way to do the analysis. They also sampled the differential oil and found debris. Anyway, replaced 2 months ago and so far it is OK.

Well, my wife traded her 2022 with 25K miles and no whine for a 2023 2.5 SP with a whine. What to do?

I rarely drive or ride in her car, but it has a very noticable whine at 50-55mph with just enough accelerator to maintain speed. Sound goes away with more acceleration or coasting, but is very easy to reproduce with slight accelerator pressure.

Rear end or transmission? Is there anything official from Genesis about the rear ends to point the service manager to? I will schedule time for them to ride with me to listen, but will they do anything about it?

Get service appointment for it, they should be able to easily diagnose it and eventually replace rear diff part. It may take time, but should be handled.

My 22 2.5T Advanced goes in for its first 8k service, and will be checking out the whine noise between 45-55 MPH. I will enclose the replacement rear differential part number info supplied previously by an owner in this forum.

I am having my rear differential replaced next week

Just got the car back (took them 3 days to finally look at it, service sucks) and as expected, rear differential needs replacing. No word on when the part will come in but they say I can keep driving it until then. Should be a recall at this point based on all the people having this issue.

Update: appointment for 22nd was cancelled due to weather conditions…. Set for 27th now, update to come
