Yeah, I've heard that a few times...dealerships don't want to take responsibility for anything. That was my worry but the service here has been great and they confirmed it was the rear diff and ordered a new one within 3 days of my initial complaint.Absolutely awful experience this time with the dealer! They claim 4 people drove the car now and no one can hear whining noise… Their suggestion is to get second opinion at different Genesis dealership. Now I have to take time off from work to be able to do that, as all other dealers are further away. I’m just disappointed… this supposed to be “piece of mind” ownership experience and it turns into little nightmare.
I’m just worry rear diff will do some serious damage to the car, as time goes by.
2023 MY SP 2.5 started to hear the noise today.Anybody have this issue on a 2023 model? Though I doubt they changed anything for 23.
I would think there should be a technical bulletin but I'm not sure we can see those?I've searched through here but can't find it, has Genesis put out anything official about the rear diff issue? My dealer is nice but clueless. I don't think they sell enough to have had anyone else complain about it. It would be nice if I could just point the service manager to something specific from Genesis detailing the problem and the need for replacement.
My 2022 GV70 2.5T manufactured in spring 22 is currently at the dealer for the rear diff. replacement for the hum sound. I asked the service rep last week when they picked up the car for the 8000 mile initial service if there was any Genesis tech bulletin for this issue, and he said he was not aware of one. The service mgr test drove the vehicle last week and could hear the sound, so a replacement part was ordered. I had put a copy of the repair summary that was added in a prior post in this thread, but that rear diff p/n was for a 3.5 Gv70. The service rep told me the p/n difference, and that the replacement part would take 1 or 2 day delivery to dealership. Maybe the part is now stocked at the Alabama plant. I will update when I get the vehicle back this week.I would think there should be a technical bulletin but I'm not sure we can see those?
I took a video of the sound, showing the speedo and tach. With me controlling the car, I was able to optimize the sound.Thanks. I'm going back next week and hopefully get the service manager to ride with me until he agrees the sound is not right. I just might have to take him on an all day ride, but I'm pretty sure I can make it whine whenever he talks, and then I'll ask him to repeat what he said. I'll do that a couple of times to stress the point if he's not coming around. I rarely drive the car but find it very annoying when I do. The 22 model we traded in with 25K miles on it did not have the whine.
Just got my GV70 back today after an oil change and the replacement of the rear differential unit to fix the "humming" sound. It appears that this fixed the problem. Dealer had the vehicle about 1 week including replacement part delivery and install. Too bad Genesis at least doesn't at least send out a tech bullitin pertaining to this issue to their service depts. My 2022 GV70 2.5T manufactured in spring 22 is currently at the dealer for the rear diff. replacement for the hum sound. Does anyone have a "video" with the audio of the noise?
Same started around 2-3k they are replacing diffCurious if anyone is having this and if we should take it in.
Our gv70 is 2 months old with 2k miles currently. We have noticed if you are barely touching the gas pedal to Maintain a steady mph there is a very slight whine from the rear end. Once you give it slightly more gas it goes away. Same happens when letting off the gas, if you ready to brake and slowly let off the gas at the moment of neither acceleration or coasting the whine appears again until you either give more gas or take your foot off the gas pedal completely.
I have read the gv80 is having this issue and it’s the rear diff.
Thoughts? Or is anyone having this issue? We have the 2.5
