GV70 2.5 rear end noise

Same here, between 80-90 km /h on the highway and only if I slightly press the acceleration to maintain a steady speed . Over 90km it goes away . The best part I started the car (cold start) one day and a loud knocking noise was present , got me worried. Same thing the next day I recorded audio and video , went to the dealer and apparently it’s normal !!! And they mentioned a video is not representative to point out there’s an issue and as far as they are concerned all is good. . Unfortunately the service after sale is quite dismissive… and I also have a rattling noise at low speed. Twice in service and same answer all the time , cannot reproduce the noise. One morning I jumped in the car , drove to the dealer , took for a test drive the manager from service and he confirmed the noise … what do you know so I am not crazy cause that’s the attitude I was getting from the reps when calling and complaining. Will bring the car back this Friday, will see, but unfortunately for me I became a detractor and I will never recommend for someone to buy Genesis , since they have a hard time understanding that a luxury brand comes with service after sale …

update: the dealer just informed us the 2nd new diff will be here today or tomorrow and will be installed friday. Hopefully this one is good and we can be done with this.

I sure hope so, we have owned this for a little 3 months and only have a month and a half of being able to drive it. We do love the GV70 and hope this is just a random thing that happened to us.

not yet, the 3rd diff we were to get, it went to a different dealer in a different state. so now we have wait all over again.

no idea at all and they didnt have an answer either. yes frustration at this point is an understatement for sure. I just spoke with the dealer and he informed me the next "maybe" shipment will be on the 18th

What year/model is your vehicle? Most seem to be 2022 MY with Feb/Mar build dates...wondering if that sample is growing now?

Add me to the group as well. My GV70 is a 2022 advanced plus. Build date is March 2022.

Pretty much identical experience as the others. Started hearing this rear end noise, similar to a whine, at around 5000 kms when the car is coasting and goes away when accelerating or braking. Sound is most evident at speeds over 80 km/hr.

Brought it to the dealership and they confirmed it as well. Rear differential needs to be replaced and is on order. Hope that fixes the issue once replaced.

I’m hearing a sound that sounds more like a whistle sometimes around 40-50 miles and hour . Normally I would have no concern but wonder if what I am hearing is the “ whine “ reported. Vehicle drives fine .

From what you described, it sounds like it could be the same issue. Even for myself, the car drives fine, except for this whine.

Well our Sept 18th date of getting the 3rd diff came and went, the dealer now says "maybe" next week. I dont understand how no-one knows where or when these things are going to various dealers that need them.

This is getting ridiculous a bit… you can’t drive a car and they struggle with simple part shipment…. Maybe time to call Genesis directly and complain…
I just emailed my service manager about ETA for my diff, will see what he says.

trust me, ive dealt with everyone at the dealer i can, voiced my frustration, all the ETA's we get come and go and we are just told "they didnt send it here, next time might be xxxxx date" Our car has been sitting at their lot for over a month, the second diff that went out in 5 miles is so bad, we cant drive it.

I know you talked to dealer, but maybe try calling Genesis US directly, see if things can be escalated that way. Unless you tried that too and it went nowhere?..

our dealer just called back, they got in touch with Genesis corp. just now and informed them we keep getting bumped on receiving a new diff and our vehicle has been sitting for a month due to this. Genesis informed our dealer that our dealer will receive a new diff on the 26th of this month. We are waiting to see if it happens or of we get bump again, if we get bump again then another serious convo will be happening with our dealership here. Ill keep you all updated
