  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

GV70 2.5 rear end noise

Update. I just got my gv70 seen today. Almost 1 month of phone calls and using concierge service. Worthless. Dropped off vehicle and dealership agrees needs new differential. Ordered today and now I wait again for the part to arrive.
Taking my gv70 back in for a second rear differential replaced. Any advice on other parts that need replaced to stop this issue for occurring.

Sorry I do not. I only have 4k miles on my GV70. This is my 1st time having any repairs done and hopefully the last.

I have a rear differential whine at 70 mph holding a steady speed. Slow up or accelerate it is much quieter. I'll mention it at the 8,000 mile service and I'm at 6,000 miles.

I'm in Oklahoma also. What dealership are you going through? I'm starting to hear it on mine also.

Tulsa Genesis the only dealership that I aware of at the moment.

Just got my GV70 back today after an oil change and the replacement of the rear differential unit to fix the "humming" sound. It appears that this fixed the problem. Dealer had the vehicle about 1 week including replacement part delivery and install. Too bad Genesis at least doesn't at least send out a tech bullitin pertaining to this issue to their service depts.
My dealer says this is normal! As does Genesis. Weird

What's normal? Replace the rear diff in all their new vehicles? Or the noise? The noise is definitely not normal...

Replaced the rear differential. My dealership didn't even question it...they ordered the part immediately. I had 1200 KM on the first one before it got noisy. I have 13,000 on the new one and haven't had any problems.

My car May 2023 built and i'm wondering what differential they replaced your car with and fixed the problem? I'm glad that it has been fixed but new cars having same issue doesn't make any sense to me if they already have the good part. I really hope Genesis will come to bottom of all these

Mine had 2250 when I noticed the unusual sound as slightly accelerating to maintain speeds of 55-65 mph. Only 3 days dealer says they replaced differential to fix. Had metal in oil pan. Picking up Monday Aug 7. Well see

I think problem is, what do they replacing with. Seems like they keep using these faulty parts keep changing them with another one.
Originally i thought this was 2022 problem but my car built May/23 and hearing same thing.
I wonder if they put anything different than what originally you had.
That is why i'm waiting to rush to replace anything. I wish Genesis can say something about it, they making a big mistake not recognizing and clearing the questions people have instead they keep quite and same time changing many differentials and other parts related to this doesn't make any sense.
Just come out and say, recall or something.

I didn’t think I had this problem but driving this weekend without the radio on told me otherwise. I have some kind of noise from the rear end around 80-90kmph. It’s going in for service in a few weeks anyway and I’ll make mention of it.

Guys, I said it before- and will say it again. Genesis uses the part with high failure rate. That’s it, no miracle to it. When you’re lucky - you got good part. But many of us are unlucky, hence the issue. Genesis refuses to acknowledge recall for whatever reason it is…
No matter the model year, they keep using same rear diff part. Again, as it has high degree of failure, way above average - many end up with the problem. Genesis knows it, which is why they authorize replacement without the hassle - most of the time.

My mechanic recommended to change the oil at about 1,000/ 1500 miles after changing the rear differential. Was wondering if anyone did it and knows what the gaskets part numbers needed to do this job ?

Update for my car. Built in June 2021. Tech confirmed he heard grinding today from the rear end. Differential replacement. Car has 15,000 KM on it.

I hope I am not going through one of these every 15k.

After replacing the ESD at 5k miles. The whining sound is back again at 6k miles. Have an appointment again to have it checked iut. It is just starting but it is the start of that same old whining sound at 50 mph. If I give it gas it goes away bit if I coast it whines it's ass off.

What part did the dealer replace during the first visit?
