  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Regarding the infotainment control knob, has anybody tried this fix?

Is it broken? Mine works great...a simple spin...

One of the minor annoyances for me since my first 2011 Genesis Tech my 2015 Ultimate and my 2019 G70 was that I always had to change the distance adjust in cruise control. I use the cruise setting frequently and changing it from one setting to another according to driving conditions had become a normal task. When I learned about this cruise learning option in my new car I said “can this really work?”. So, I set it on. It took a while to actually see results but I can say now it works. I don’t have to touch that feature anymore it’s pleasure to see it change according to how I would have set it. Go figure.

Seriously? If my dealer had another GV80 I'd go and check it out but they don't.

Does anyone else out there in GV80 land with a vehicle hear the loud radiator fan noise when standing in front of the car or am I losing it?
Yes. This is true. It sounds like a loud hair dryer. It’s the fans cooling down the engine. I just got it this past week. But, really not a big deal IMO

Do you mean the car adjusts the distance between you and what is in front of you automatically now? If so is that as in changes from position 1 distance to 2 or 3 or 4 or alters what each setting is. I noticed the cruiselearning setting but did not understand the explanation.

Yes the machine learning feature is for that purpose. Like I said I had my doubts I set it and just kept adjusting the distance while local and highway driving the way I usually did then I started to notice that after a while it was mimicking what I did without me making any adjustments. I'm pretty sure I'm not imagining it as this is my forth Genesis with car to car cruise adjust.

I was given a Santa fe loaner with the 2.5T(got a g70, but to small so they gave me a SUV) and have noticed the gear shifts are alot smoother than my GV80, and seems to drive smoother though I'll chalk that up to the drive shaft.

How are you guys noticing the gear shifts in your GV80? Also if you give it some gas/ lead foot it does it seem to hold gears longer than it should / jerk a little?

I average around 13.5mpg with the 3.5TT Prestige but I am sure I drive harder than most, and I am still having fun experimenting with the power. Bought the car November 25th, and have about 1300 miles.
I have the 2.5T. Advanced here in Canada. Only drove about 450 miles almost all city and its winter. I am getting just under
20mpg. Mpg is always bad in cold winter weather. This should get up to the 23-24 they say as it gets warmer and the car gets broken in. It will be very close to any other comparable Suv. BMWx5. Mercedes GLE. Lexus RX or Audi Q7

Update:
The vibration issue came back and my VIN was not under the recall for the drive shaft.

Dealership found that my drive shaft needs replacement. There is supposedly a recall for this however my VIN was not one of them but still needs replacement. If you guys get vibration issues make sure to bring it in! Also I had a temperature senor that was faulty (reading like 30 Celsius when it was not). All these issues but service is in the process of the warranty work, just waiting on Genesis Canada.

Hyundai service level: They were amazing today and very helpful, thanks Country Hills Hyundai. They did not jerk me around and after we did a ride-along that I asked for with a mechanic, they witnessed the issue first hand and found the issue within a couple hours.
My GV80 AWD with 2500 miles started vibrating after driving after about 25 miles at highway speed. It was so bad it was making my wife car sick. It's now been sitting at the dealer for almost 2 weeks. They said Genesis told them to check the drive shaft bearing torque, but that was several days ago and no word, so I assume they still don't have a fix. They said no recall or bulletin on this. Sounds similar to a problem with a number of Palisade AWD. Did you get a new drive shaft, and did it work?

They are replacing the full rear drive shaft. Part is coming from Korea. Just waiting for the part could be 2/3 weeks. They estimate I'll have the car back mid April. It's a bit ridiculous, but nothing I can do at this point.

Concerning....Beautiful vehicle. The issue with vibration appears to be a prevailing theme. Hope they figure it out.....

Thats what I was afraid of...Driving their $30,000 Hyundai loaner while paying for a $60,000 Genny. At least it rides smooth.

In fairness they gave a beautiful G70 to drive as a loaner but I asked for a bigger vehicle. Would have loved a GV80 but that was unrealistic.

I've noticed mine holds gears a bit too long after coming off gas pedal. Driving in Economy and using the foot more helps a bit (not that it makes sense to me).

Also noted that you must be in Economy and also enable coasting in menus to allow car to really coast and benefit from a downhill glide instead of the motor and tranny revving and holding you back (again, does not make sense to me). Mileage improved 1-1.5mpg. You should be able to coast freely in comfort mode as well but you currently cannot.

Mine sounds to be about the same, holds the gears to long. I hope even though we buy this years model they still update our transmission software. This would be an easy torque curve fix. I just hope it is not foreshadowing a bad transmission.

I noticed the coasting option. Works great, I like that the vehicle has a message stating that I am coasting. By using ECO and coasting features I get just over 700km per tank which is awesome.

Hey did you ever get your driveshaft? If so did it solve the vibrations? My vehicle has been at dealer 4 weeks now and they just told me they are trying to get a driveshaft (like from NJ). Not really enjoying my Santa Fe although some things like the lane assist and driving assist work better than on my GV80. Also, curiously, the Santa Fe supports bluetooth Android auto connection.

Is it bluetooth? Wireless, yes, but I thought Android Auto required a wifi connection and since the GV80 doesn't have that it had no wireless AA. Though maybe I'm confusing it with some other feature.

I will keep you guys updated. Drive shaft is supposed to arrive at the dealership today. Replacement hopefully today or in the coming days. Once I get the vehicle I will update. I'll aim to update two weeks later if the issue was addressed, worse or better.

Maybe this. I think you are confusing a car hotspot feature with Android Auto. The technology AA wireless uses to function is the wifi/bluetooth from your phone not car. To support AA wireless a car needs to support the updated technology(an updated android auto module), that does not mean a car hotspot feature is required if implemented. AA Wireless uses Bluetooth for a handshake and the wifi to transmit bigger data. AA wireless is like setting up a router that only a certain handshake (the AA app with Bluetooth) can understand and thus allows the connection to AA.

Yes best I can tell, to connect "phone projection" it first disconnects bluetooth then connects wifi and runs my Android Auto on the display.. Anyway AA seems to work well wirelessly on the Santa Fe. Just not, unfortunately on the GV80 I have.

Have had my GV80 for about 4 months now and love it. But at 3800 miles, started to get the vibration issue. The dealer has diagnosed it and is ordering a rear driveshaft. He said this is the second GV80 they've had in for the issue. I've had the same symptoms as others - after driving for 10-15 miles, vibration starts. Only noticeable in the 35-70 mph range.
