  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

GV80 Reviews

A four-wheeled wallflower this ain’t. During my week with the Korean luxury brand’s very first SUV, the GV80 drew admiring glances on the regular. You can at least partially chalk it up to the newness of the shape, but even still, the amount of neck-craning and thumbs up it receives is typically reserved for something lower, louder, and with an Italian badge.

It’s likely the wow factor of the Genesis GV80’s styling will eventually fade, at least somewhat. That’s just how time works. Thanks to those looks though, plus a swanky interior, calming driving dynamics, and a hugely appealing price tag, I predict another reason: you’re going to start seeing a lot of GV80s around.

- Doubt we'll be seeing a lot of GV80s around until Genesis can increase production capacity.

The 2021 Genesis GV80 is a game-changer in the luxury segment. I’d even go so far as to call it the mid-size SUV equivalent of the original Lexus LS. It doesn’t do everything perfectly: it’s thirsty, the third row is tight, and it misses a few ultra-lux options found elsewhere in the segment. But what it does do well—stunning looks, that peerless cabin, an overwhelming sense of calm—it does very well indeed, blending all its strengths into one hard-to-resist package. This is every inch the competitor to the German establishment, and that’s before you factor in the dynamite savings it offers when specced like for like.

- The tight 3rd row complaint also applies to the GLE and X5.

Don't know why Hoonie's (Jeff) channel isn't more popular than it is (esp. in comparison to some other auto review channels), but at least he has another gig doing reviews.

Do we know if won't need USB cable for Apple Play and or Android this new baby?
It’s not wireless and when I test drive it, the charging pad wouldn’t charge my iPhone 12 Pro Max. The Kia Telluride’s wireless charging pad worked just fine (didn’t test CarPlay, though).

I agree. I purchased the Prestige Package, paid $72,000+ for it. I was treated like I was buying a bargain basement price Hyundai. Genesis really needs to correct this if they want to seriously compete with the big guns out there. Honestly it was a real turnoff. As soon as I signed all the paperwork my salesperson said thank you and saying goodbye. I said hold on, aren't you going to go over the vehicle and all the features and controls with me? She said of course but it was obvious she was rushing and just wanted to be done with me. This is my first Genesis and besides this GV80 I've been buying Infinitis since 1998 and it was a totally different buying experience including the showroom and waiting area.
This will be my first car so I don’t have a point of reference, but as with all my technology I much prefer to discover the features myself than have someone show me as that’s part of the joy of discovery for me. So if my dealer rushes me out the door once the vehicle arrives, I’ll actually be super happy. :)

That's cool if it's your decision to refuse their offer to go over the vehicle but the assistance should definitely be available. I've find that I typically know more about these cars than the Hyundai people selling them!

100% agree. It’s bad when a brand is trying to compete with Lincoln’s Black Label experience and does such a poor job (from what I’ve been reading and my own initial experience with both Genesis Concierge and the Bayside dealership). Maybe they figure that the car is selling itself so they’ll focus on production now and on customer service later?

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!

totally agree. Purchased the prestige in Jan love it and tons of YouTube by genesis to get you thru the tech at your own pace . The vehicle is very user configurable. You will love it I came from a mercedes s-550 and the gv80 continues to exceed my expectations. Enjoy

Lincoln Concierge Service is amazingly great. I currently own a Lincoln Nautilus and went to them twice. Once in the buying process and once needing help accessing one of the Black Label benefits (one week free car rental when traveling), and both times they were knowledgeable, immediately accessible, and went out of their way to solve a thorny problem (and not one of their own making). This, along, with pickup/drop off for servicing and test drive at home, are things that make the Lincoln brand really stand out. They went with these services for the same reason Genesis did. Too many Lincoln dealerships are comingled with Ford dealerships (though their situation isn't as dire as Genesis') and this was one way to allow their potential customers to largely bypass the dealership experience if that's what they want to do.

I plan to move into a GV80 when my Nautilus lease is up, and I dread having to cope with a Hyundai dealership. Here's hoping that Genesis gets these services working properly by then.

You’d be wise to learn as much as possible about a ‘21 vehicle before driving it off the dealer’s lot. This forum is littered with questions like “how do I lift the wipers off my windshield to clean it,” “how can I get into the door with the key,” and many similar simple problems. Want to rely on the manual? Good luck finding a subject easily. Be smart, pump the dealer for as much info as possible. Hopefully, you won’t get a flat tire on the way home, or get a warning light on the dash. And, good luck using the nav/audio system.

Have fun with learning all the cool features . Tons of things to discover while sitting in the parking lot waiting for the Mr.s finishing up her shopping spree . make it enjoyable. It’s not like flying a gulfstream with pre-flight check lists ; but close.!

Whether it's this or waiting on them getting ready before going out, or anything similar, it's absolutely essential to keep oneself occupied during these times. It's a lot easier now that we all carry around portable computers.

I used Genesis Concierge with my G70 and was very satisfied with it, except last time I used it the Service Tech forgot to reset the Service Reminder Indicator. I live about an hour and a half from the dealer so this service is appreciated.

They are being very generous for you. Genesis's maximum limit for valet services is 50 miles or a one hour drive time with traffic. Sounds like you have a good dealer.

Buzzscore - 9 out of 10

There is also a separate review of the interior.

Just use the electronic manual and the search function. All three manuals are available electronically for download and will easily fit on your phone. Also the touch screen has built in manuals and the Help function is very handy for learning the voice commands.

Agreed. Just downloaded the PDF. Ctrl-F to search and I can find pretty much any subject easily. Plus - YouTube. I feel like I already know 90% of this car. Picking up mine on Tuesday. :)

Good points, but things aren’t always where they should be in the manual and the instructions are often vague, or just obtuse. The indices are dreadful. That was really my point.
