  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hankook tire recall

Keep complaining to your dealer about the vibration and make certain they are adding your comments to your vehicle service file. Contact Hyundai Canada and complain to them also. While your dealer has little or no influence on changing the Michelins for another make/type, Hyundai Canada does.

I'm in the Chicago area, so I'm thinking that Hyundai Canada won't be too receptive to my issue. :D

I will give the dealer a chance to handle the issue, but I won't hesitate to escalate if needed.

P.S. I read a post somewhere on this forum, IIRC, in a thread about Tires and Vibration. That poster said he as able to replace the tires with his choice.
I'd agree that as part of the recall, there would be little chance of a different tire, but if I just have a defective set of Michelins, there could possibly be some latitude. Again, my vibration is slight, and has improved a bit with added miles. If it persists at 3750 miles, I'll expect it to be solved regardless of tires, or other remedies.

I got a call recently, telling me that either I change them or they cancel the order and it cannot be reinitialized. I am then, "out of luck".

I say BS. It is a customer-directed option as to if and when per Hyundai. The dealer jumped the gun and its their problem. Ask to see the service paperwork which says, "customer stated they wanted the tire replacement per campaign XXX". Tell them no thanks, not now. When the time comes when you are ready, go to another dealer if you need to. The dealer is reimbursed for the service they do, so they may simply be trying to boost the service revenue this month.

I suspected as much since the phonecall came right at the year end which is a generally a push time for total numbers. I'm going to elevate and get them to put it in writing before doing anything.

I run my tire pressure 1-2 pounds above the factory recommended amount. This may reduce flat spotting.

Same - Recommended pressure for the Michelin's is 33, my TPMS usually reads 35 for each tire when they register each morning, and I have not experienced any flat spotting.

Same here tires have performed admirably absolutely no sign of flat spotting and very comfortable ride.
