Has anyone here compared the 15 Genesis 5.0 to a Chevy SS?

Geez.. Bet he is in low 11s already on stock tires? And the "moving street sweet spot" I bet is torrential. Amazing... As mentioned earlier, that is cool about the SS. Supported add ins, and Large performance options.. More I think about this, time to move the 2012, order a 2016 SS? Unless .gov motors makes me sign a license agreement for their "IP" with all the data network and critical software in the car.. I bet his 2014 is free from that.. Off to a dealership in next few weeks. Almost sold on a SS.. And add some bolt on CPU upgrades, breathing and blower options.. Or factory Hellcat? Modified SS seems to have something special.. 😎

Nah, High 12s stock, but once he gets the motor done with some MT tires I can guarantee a at least a 10.9 run

Heres a quick link. Its complete now. This thing will be wicked angry

i have a friend that bought the 2014 SS. He took it to the track for some base runs before he add the CTS-V blower onto it. It ran a 12.9 stock

Hes now shooting for a 10 second pass

Yeah, can't wait. Now that GM announced the 2016 model i coming out, that has my hopes up to get an SS possibly now. I will be driving them both back to back again in a few months to make sure thats the way I want to go.

The Hellcat is awesome, but it's still an overweight pig. The SS is pretty heavy at 3800 lb, but it has one of the best v8 engines to date for performance.

I'm pretty sure Chevy has a package for the SS bringing it to 450hp with full warranty intact. Personally, I'd take the Hellcat and leave it alone - stock. It's already fast as hell (with better tires - okay, one modification) and I don't have any twisty roads to worry about around here.

I get that opinion.. Makes sense for a stock Hellcat.. Yet, there is something to this SS. The Impala SS over time has a great name.. The entry price is low (in the 40s) compared to Hellcat.. Use the difference to send up the road to Ligenfelter... Yes, he died, but the family biz moves in.. Like. Shelby for Chevy.. Bet they would get all the HP to the ground needed to equal or beat the Hellcat or so many others... Would be a rare and valuable car.. And lighter, better handling. It is reported that Chevy, like Ford, honors warranty claims for drivetrain and suspensions when modified by certain companies. Ford has honored Shelby American modified cars unofficial (and official up to 650hp) up to 750hp. I saw one in Midwest being replaced under warranty with 750 HP pulley. They said Ford wanted the motor "for research". This was before the two year run of factory GT500 650hp versions.. Many reports of Ligenfelter modified cars getting warranty support (not many/any were for total melt downs)..

Anyway, choice is good... And going across Mecham auctions 20-30 years from now, Hellcats Chargers, and Ligenfelter Impala SS will company prices into the stratosphere. IMO

The SS is freakishly light for its size and the fact that it was over engineered for both performance and use. The SS it's bigger than the M5 and used to tow caravans and boats in its home market.

I might favor the SS over the Hellcat for comfort and sleeper-factor if it could be modified to be in the high 10s or low 11s on good street tires with a warranty...

I can't believe you people are making me want a Chevy other than the Corvette! :p

Funny... I get exactly what you are saying... However, what is, is... Time to visit a Chevy dealer if looking for this type of vehicle. :)

But get ready for drive by forum sign ups and drive by yapping from the M4 forums if you ever dare to say a Lingenfelter Chevy can take on many Bavarian models. And it will not sound like a 1965 step van with a straight 6, no mufflers, and nitrous injection..

I test drove an SS last year and on the same day test drove a Genesis with the 3.8L V6. They're both nice cars, but they have different missions.

If I had to choose, I'd probably go with the SS since the wife liked it more than the Genesis and it was a lot more fun to drive. What shocked me was just how neutral the chassis is in the SS, you can pitch it into a turn (hard I might add) and it just sticks. If you want it to scrub wide just a tad ease off the throttle, if you want to tuck the nose in or step the back out just feed it some throttle. Car likes to change directions too, which is nice. Then of course there is the little issue of power, and the LS3 makes a lot of it in a pretty light car for its size.

I drove both within the past two weeks. Just drove the Genesis both V6 and V8 yesterday and was seriously impressed by it so much that it made it to the top of my list with the SS so far. If you guys compared, what were the reasons you went with the Genesis? The SS to me maybe more fun of a car, has the Corvette LS3, more mods (aftermarket) available. It has probably the best interior of any GM car inside of it other than Caddy.

I also thought when I drove the V8, it felt more solid and sure footed than the V6. Obviously it had more power than the V6 and you felt it. It wanted to get going much faster. Now the one Genesis I drove, didn't have the trunk auto close. So I assume it didn't have the Ultimate package. The v6's had the Signature and Tech, and they were asking $39k-$40k on those discounted. The V8 had no price yet.

What should someone pay for a V8, with Ultimate (all packages) basically and a V6 with ultimate (all packages) but no awd?

Thanks guys.
Not sure what the torque is on the ss, but I have a 2012 5.0 Genny and it has 429 hp, vs 415 for ss. Way heavier and not as fast, but if your talking straight hp, the Genny has more unless they took some away in the 2015 5.0

The V8 has a lot more passing power available & there's not much use for AWD here in South Texas... I'd rather have the SS as a performance car. But I find it's more than passing resemblance to a Malibu a deal breaker.

That being said, I'm getting a little tired of my 5.0 Ultimate - I'm now looking for something a bit more nimble.
