  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Has anyone taken their G70 to a track day?

Might I suggest you test driving a Veloster N with PP for around $29k - negotiations/incentives. No it is nowhere near as lux as the G70 but all the driving components are in place for track days and street use. The 10 year warranty on the N is good for track use as well which is not common. A simple JB4 + downpipe will add +100hp/100lbtq to stock and you'll be having tons of fun.

Lightning Lap 2019: The Hottest Cars on America's Toughest Track

fyi.. Here is an article on the relative performance of the G70 and Veloster N around VIR. The VN is within a half second of the G70 and is $20k cheaper; still the G puts up a decent time for a sports sedan Way off the M2 and Supra pace but still decent none the less.

Thanks for sharing! I can't believe I hadn't heard of the lightning lap comparisons until now. It's a pretty respectable time for the G70 and the fact that it's so close to the veloster N just makes me want the G70 more, due to the extra room and 4 doors. I think the dynamic version they tested has upgraded brake pads - why don't the sport models come with upgraded pads?

Yup. Dynamic includes semi-metallic brake pads, whereas all other models (in the US, sans maybe the 6spd) has ceramic brake pads. You can buy the semi-metallics online or from your dealership, but they aren't cheap! Anyway, I wish the Sport trim came with those pads... :c

Personally, I'm still holding out hope for the aftermarket to come out with BOTH front and rear upgraded brake pads. So far only front pads are available which makes zero sense to me.

This. If and when one of us finds font/rear aftermarket pads from a good brand make sure to start a new thread and inform us all. I can't wait to ditch the ceramics, between the vibration high speed braking and variable stopping depending on level of glazing these are the worst brakes I've ever had on a vehicle. Still functional, but flawed.
